Box Drive: Change cache location
It would be really awesome to allow the box drive cache location to be placed somewhere other than C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Box\Box\cache, say on on a separate volume that doesn't consume space on C: (boot / application drive). Ideally I would like to place it on my second ssd D:

I also see it as very necessary because my drive C: is only 1TB and the cache fills it almost all and I have to keep deleting, that is very frustrating.

As per the previous comments this is a critical functionality. Based on the absence of action on this, I will advise my clients to choose a different solution.

I see this is under consideration since 2020. Any updates from Admin. Really need this feature.

I agree with above/others. Additionally, moving the Box Cache location to an external drive does not control the user access permissions, so unless you set permissions to exclude other users on the device, they will have free access to whatever is cached. Oops.

We urgently need this to bring Box Drive into feature parity with Box Sync!
Internal drives, particularly in laptops or Apple desktops, are not expandable.
ONLY Box Sync can save to an external drive, allowing more capacity. Please add this crucial feature to Box Drive.

Even with Enterprise edition we still can't do this basic thing. Box folder itself can be moved to another drive with a registry setting, but the cache still has to be on C: and this fills up taking almost all the space on the drive and therefore compromising the functionality of the operating system and other applications because of the lack of cache size management [Apparently there is a setting but it didn't work for me]. Lack of bandwidth management is also a nasty issue as Box will grab EVERYTHING, throttling out all other applications. I can't believe that these extremely important basic issues have not yet been fixed!

I can't believe that this feature is missing. I just upgraded from Box Sync, where it was possible. It was already on D, but the Box Drive installation put it back onto C.

This is an incredibly important feature that is sorely missed. My school requires me to use Box Drive and I have begun to use Box for my everyday files as well. I currently have over 50GB in Box, and my C: Drive is now almost completely full due to how many files I save offline. Please implement this feature asap!

The fact that this is not possible is why i still use box sync rather than box drive

Most people have rather small C drives, not being able to change the cache location makes me consider your competitors.

we use this on box sync and box drive has so many advantages over box sync but this issue is holding us up. we really want/need to switch, please add this feature!

Box is awful without this must have setting. I have no option but to uninstall it.

OK, for an "enterprise" level program, this basic functionality is almost critical.
This trivial to implement feature should be moved to top priority.

Any change on the status of this feature? Pretty big oversight!

Without this feature, Box Drive is unusable. Common usage is to be dedicate C to system storage and another drive for data storage. We have 100's GB in shared storage, so this would max out C drive in short order.
Not sure why this was dropped moving form Box Sync to Box Drive. We'll be going back until this is fixed.

Only 264 votes... I assure you BOX that this is because people haven't found this post. It's a MUST have feature. Please implement.

How can it be 30 months later and this STILL has not been addressed? As has been mentioned previously, this is basic functionality for managing cloud storage on a remote device. Please tell us, oh wizards of Box, what it is we need to do to get this necessary upgrade completed soon.

Imagine having a C drive that is just for your server OS, and a D drive that's a separate HD for data, and every time you want to backup many gigabytes of files from D to Box online, it first has to copy the files to the Box cache on the C drive... Don't the developers understand how FRUSTRATING this is?! :/

This should also be possible in macOS.
