Enhanced Lock/Unlock on Box Drive for CAD files
I hope the Enhanced lock/unlock experience, which is currently only available for Office files, be made available for CAD files and others as well.

Thank you for the suggestion. We currently do not have this planned on our roadmap. We will place this in our backlog as we continue evaluating ideas to improve Box Drive.
Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

At our firm, we are seriously considering moving our CAD files over to Box because of more and more employees working remote. It would be a significant improvement to our work flow, but we need this to be a feature. Right now it is the biggest potential roadblock to us making this transition. Please add this to your roadmap.

RTM Engineering, is looking to explore a custom document auto locking use case in an effort to stop end users from editing the CAD files via autodesk integration. We currently dont have an OOB solution so we had to come up with a workaround, however, its not great on the unlocking part so if product can come up w something that would be great.
best way to do it automatically. set up a process to check for XYZ thing then when it does on a certain file, hit the update file endpoint and change the value of lock
Very basic solution would be establishing a FILE.PREVIEWED webhook on the files they would want locked/unlocked. Then subsequently fire off the update file to lock it once that webhook is triggered on a file.
although since there isn't a mechanism to find out when a file is "closed" so our past customers have set the unlock at a timer.
2 api calls per file (1 to lock, 1 to unlock) -> Originally thought we'd need more to find which file to update, however, with the webhook providing the file ID we dont need to make as many calls

I can't believe that a company as big as Box is still using waterfall permissions for their enterprise accounts.
In a business setting, it's absolutely essential to have the option to set specific permissions for subfolders within a large data folder that's accessible to all users. This is such a basic feature that every other cloud file provider we've used offers. I don't understand why Box can't provide this.
For example, it's frustrating that I can't set up a system where a file gets locked automatically when User A opens it, and then switches to read-only mode when User B accesses it. I've seen that Egnyte can do this, so why can't Box? It's a feature that can prevent conflicts and ensure that everyone's on the same page without worrying about overwriting each other's changes.
Box really needs to step up their game and offer these kinds of features, especially if their competitors are already doing it. It's time for them to catch up and provide a more user-friendly and efficient platform for businesses.

This is the #1 requested feature by our AUTODESK users.

Please add this feature. It would be especially useful now that many CAD users are remote and no longer working off of a local server.
