  1. Content manager and folder picker for user activity report

Ability for group admin/Business admin to use Contents Manager (and folder picker for user activity report).
Currently, the group admin or admin of Business license cannot choose folder from picker on user activity report because they don't have the permission to view users' contents (or Contents Manager).

  3. Allow inheritance in folder structure

Windows allows for folders to enable or disable inheritance from Parent folder to Child folders. This is needed in BOX so collaborators who don't need access or shouldn't have access to certain Child folders within a Parent folder can still navigate where access is needed and not expose sensitive data.

  4. Augment existing collaborator permissions in inherited subfolders

    Scenario:

Folder A is shared with User X with Viewer permission
Folder B is a subfolder of Folder A, on which User X requires Editor permission

According to support, the only way to accomplish this in the web UI is to first remove User X as a collaborator on Folder A, add them as an Editor on Folder B, and then re-add them as a Viewer on Folder A

This is clunky, annoying, and results in a lot of extra notifications.

Clearly this is supported by the underlying file system because you can do it directly with the Box CLI:

  5. Collaborator Restriction to a folder.

We need the ability to decide which subfolders a specific collaborator can access. Specifically, we need to restrict access of one collaborator to a subfolder (and all of its contents/subfolders). I was told this is not something Box cannot do. This is an issue. We need to set up an ethical wall in the firm. This associate needs to retain access to everything he currently can access, but legally we need to restrict his access to this matter (folder) and all it's contents.

  6. Restrict Access Right to Sub-Folders

    Hello,

After creating FOLDER A and SUB-FOLDERS B, C, D under A, along with sub-subfolders E, F, G under B, I granted User X viewer access to A. However, I aim to restrict or remove their access to C, E, F, and G. Unfortunately, this functionality isn't currently available with Box.com. Could you consider adding this feature? Thank you!

  7. User Classification

Our organization uses Box to manage our controlled documentation. To access this information people, need to meet certain criteria to access certain types of documents. Box is great for classifying documents, but we are looking for a way to classify users to make it easy to know if we are able to share a specific document with a specific user. We would like to be able to add a property, tag, or some other identifier to a user's profile that would allow us to classify a user as a specific type. We would then like this classification to become a…

  8. Ability to customize collaborator privilege

Want to automate the task of "when the viewer / uploader notices the need to update a particular locked file, ask the editor to confirm and approve the file update"?
To do this, from the perspective of user permissions, you need collaborator permissions that remove one permission from the viewer / uploader and grant one permission.

-Collaborator authority that grants manual workflow startup authority to viewer / uploader authority and cannot unlock files.

By realizing this authority, the following workflow can be automated in combination with Box Relay.

    (1) Lock the approved document managed by the editor.
    (2) The viewer…

  9. Preventing all users with an email address in a managed domain from creating accounts

We noticed that a box.com account was used to create a Box user in our managed domain. Box mentioned that we can turn off auto enrollment which makes all users with a domain email address managed, but we really want to prevent users for which we have not automatically created Box accounts for from making a managed or unmanaged account.

I would like to suggest an additional admin control that could prevent users from signing up at box.com using their domain email address.

  10. Control managed user external collaboration to webmail accounts

Setting that allows admin of corporate instance to control/limit managed users being collaborated into personal Box webmail accounts. This would be a setting to control/limit an outside Box webmail user collaborating a corporate managed user into its personal account.

  12. Office 365 Image profile should be used as profile picture on Box website when Azure SSO is setup

Office 365 Image profile should be used as profile picture on Box website when Azure SSO is setup. I noticed all Box accounts created via Azure SSO have a silhouette as the image. Would be great if it can pull the image from Office 365 profile.

  13. Indicate whether a user is a managed user or app user in Admin event stream

Adding a parameter in the Admin event stream which indicates whether the user that took an action was a managed user or app user would make it more efficient for administrators or analytics tools to separate activity by the different user types. In an active enterprise the volume of events may be very great, and having this additional level of specificity would simplify reporting.

  15. Adding Company Information to Users to Prevent Wrong User Invitations

When I invite a user with Box, information other than the email address is not displayed, so I think it is possible to invite another user by mistake.

In order to solve this problem, I think it is necessary to display not only the email address and name but also the company information that the user belongs to when inviting the user.

For managed users, we want to make it possible to register company affiliation information in account settings and so on, so that it can be displayed when inviting collaborators.

  16. Enable admin settings to customize new user onboarding setup flow

The new user onboarding displayed at https://{DOMAIN}.app.box.com/onboarding/setupflow should be customizable.

Currently new users are guided through a one time onboarding set of screens in the web app. These are Box branded and while they personally greet the user are not otherwise configurable.

This feature should be opt-in, easily disabled by CLI or API (e.g. show-onboarding: False), or allow for customization.

We can currently enable the promotion of Box Mobile, Notes, etc. in the Admin Console. This would be similar to implement and appropriate on the User Settings console tab.

Right now the final screen displays a prompt for the user…

  17. Ability to reject group collaboration by individuals.

The user may be invited as a group to a folder that is of little relevance to him.

If we are invited to a folder as a group, we cannot remove the collaboration as only an individual. If we invite a group, but individuals within the group do not need to collaborate, please add a setting that allows us to de-collaborate (reject) only the relevant users.

  18. Ability to search by "co-owner" or "editor", I see we can "sort by owners" but that doesn't do any good for users.

We have detailers come in all the time we would like to be able to sort at the "All Folder" zone by "co-owner" or "editor" to ensure detailer gets put in all applicable folders. I see sort by "owner" but no one is that high in the group. the highest we're at is "co-owner" . the sorting feature would allow us to find, add and remove person(s) from folder(s) without having to open every folder and sort through all the users.

  19. Group membership retained when an account is deactivated

We have scenarios where user accounts are suspended for a period of time e.g while a person is on extended leave. The business process is to disable the account in Active Directory which in turn deactivates the account in our SSO provider which also sets the account as Inactive in Box.

When the account is reactivated the person retains access to all the folders they were collaborating in but they lose membership to all Box groups and need to be re-added

We've also had incidents where accounts have mistakenly been deactivated resulting in the same issue

    Generally we prefer to…

  20. Unable to see folders users have access to through Group invitations

A group is given access to a folder on Box (ie Project A). When the admin views what folders a specific user in Project A has access to, it does not show the collaborated folder for Project A
