Customize Collaborator Permission Levels
Any chance that we can have some flexibility in the "Collaborator Permission Levels." Can we develop a tool to edit these levels, like check which function the user can have. Having set levels with no flexibility is difficult because every user needs different access.

My company specifically needs the ability to allow our customers to edit documents while preventing them from downloading the documents.

Moderators, please update on this idea and provide comments/feedback.
Many people need this feature.

Agree! Would be perfect to have either customizable collaborator permission, as some permission type is either wat to restrictive or way too flexible. So for example, it would be perfect to have a mid-level permit, between "editor" and "viewer uploader", where the user can edit files, edit file titles but not be able to delete the file...

This lack of granularity is a GLARING omission in the software. The fact I can make people Viewer Uploaders (so they can't delete) is great -- but they can SHARE those documents with people they shouldn't be able to is problematic. Each of those should be a checkbox/bitmask that should be able to be combined
Preview | Upload | Download | Edit | Delete | Share
Each one gets a checkbox and they either can or they can't do each.

My org needs this feature. Our clients have very strict cyber policies. We want users to edit files without downloading permissions. The file would open up in Office for Box and users can edit and upload a newer version of the file directly in Box servers.

We need a way to customize the permissions on single file within a workspace.

Request to define our own permissions & groupings. Allow us to both modify the predefined permissions but also to create our own. (INC4900103)

Agree with jamesey, previewer uploader with the ability to delete. We upload a lot of photos direct to Box and people need to be able to delete the bad ones, but I would prefer they cannot edit the root files names and open links. I am beginning to wish we had gone with a platform that didn't have waterfall permissions! I thought I wouldn't be a big issue but not all collaborators are created equal.

Like the ability to alter permissions on viewer uploader. For instance, want that permission to have everything it has but the ability to share anything.

In folders where Open Links are permissible, only "Uploader", "Previewer", and "Uploader Previewer" are not able to create read-only open links, which can be passed on to the world. I would like to invite external named collaborators as "Editors", but I don't want them able to create an open link.

Box's infrastructure is designed to waterfall it's permissions from parent to sub-folders. It would also be very helpful to have permissions per sub-folder in order to restrict access as needed.

This is a great idea! None of the existing permission levels really fit my needs. I spent half a day trying to go through the chart to figure out how to assign permissions in my team and still have not quite decided. There are some oddities in the current permissions. For instance a Previewer Uploader cannot download files but they are able to print which means they could theoretically just print to PDF which is essentially the same as downloading the files. Additionally, The Viewer Uploader is able to unlock files but would otherwise be a great permission level for subs in a folder that need to be able to edit but aren't the primary folder owners.

My problem is the same - I need my team to be able to move things, but not delete them - I would love this permission option to be added to Box

This would be super helpful. If you don't want to enable the customization of permission levels, how about an additional level between Editor and Viewer Uploader where they are essentially a Viewer Uploader plus the ability to move, delete and rename?

This would be amazing! I hope this gets seen and put on a priority list.

Create custom permission levels. It would be amazing if we were allowed to create a custom permission level. For Example: you can either have permission to move and delete a file with owner or editor, but that's it. No one else can move a file. If we could create a custom permission we could make these small changes that would be hugely helpful

I need my team to be able to move files between folders, but not delete them. There is no way to do this...
