Save Sorting Preferences
When using Box in-browser, create a setting to change the default sorting preference. For example, so you can make the default sorting for all folders Name, Ascending. This is not currently an option and means every time you open a folder you need to manually resort it, as the default sorting is always set to Updated, Ascending.

I'd like to have the ability to create/save/reuse a custom view. In order to adhere to best practices of content management, I'd like to reduce the number of folders and increase the meta data on each file. This will make things easier to find, and will also give me the ability to group, filter and sort to create appropriate views for multiple audiences. Basic ootb SharePoint view functionality is highly effective and would enable usability in Box. This would drive more users to the system and increase buy-in from our end users.

This is incredibly annoying that we can't permanently set the folders to be organized by name or other - PLEASE FIX - we will quit using box if this is not resolved

Yes, there is a file and folder naming convention as follows:
Folders:
<Number>_<Foldername>Files:
<Specific internal speaking number>_<Filename>The date of the file itself has no meaning, for this case. Therefore our 7 customers always need to click on the "name" as a starting click to work with box.com

Yes, my organization uses a format like this:
01 <folder 1 name>
02 <folder 2 name>
03 <folder 3 name>
etc...
This enables us to sort folders ourselves by priority / frequency of access rather than last updated, and allows consistency of organization across our file structure. So to be able to have the default sort be by name would be very helpful--especially since the default sort applies itself every time you navigate away from / back to a given folder such that if you want it sorted by name you need to manually do so every time you navigate to it. Sorting by updated date ends up being pretty chaotic. -

I've learned that subsequent folders will remember the sort order you use in Box's initial "all files" screen. So if you open your folders from a link, you will have less control over default sorting in those folders.
In general, though, I wish Box had as many fields and capabilities as Windows File Explorer. You can't search within folders unless you're a parent-folder Owner, and you can't export lists of files to Excel unless you're a Box Admin. The lowly editor or viewer is locked out of those things.

Sorry for any confusion. I like sort by date but the current setting is that the OLDEST is at the top, it should be that the most recently used files should be at the top and the oldest at the bottom. So the most frequently used folders should be at the top. Can you fix that?

Yes, please! I HATE that it is always sorted by Updated, Ascending. Name, Ascending would be so much more helpful to me. At least make it an option for people to sort by their preferred method, and save that setting!

I agree, for some reason my default used to be 'sort by name ascending' and a few weeks ago it changed to descending and it's screwed up all my folders.

I completely agree. I have such a hard time finding folders and files because everything moves constantly with the last updated. I'd love to select by sort default preference and not have to change everytime I move folders.

Maybe having this as a user setting, for how they automatically view all folders they encounter. And/or being able to set a default sorting for folders you can edit, so viewers/contributors will be met with the correct sorting order.
