Default Search Everywhere
While I understand the need to search only in a folder, my company uses the search everywhere function way more.
Is there a way to make the search "everywhere" option the default instead of search "only in this folder"? It slows us down so much right now having to switch it to find a different folder without going back to the home page, or switching the search feature.

Whilst I prefer the old behaviour, my problem is in Safari the Everywhere button doesn't work. For every search I have to navigate back to the top directory then search (clicking everywhere just makes the search box disappear)

Please, please let us choose "everywhere" as the default search. The change to make the current folder the search target is a major drag on our workflows.

I noticed someone mentioned having a preference for "Only in this folder" as the default. Apparently it saves them about 10-30 seconds per search. So hopefully it become something i can adjust in my account settings, but i imagine thats harder to code. But it also seems like the only correct course of action to please everyone. Okie dookie. I hope i get the option to set the default as "Search everywhere", cus im definitely loosing 5-10 seconds a couple dozen times a day. To be clear, i do care a little bit about the time. but its mainly the frustration of watching my computer waste my time for no reason several dozen times a day. It just makes me question why it was ever changed. and i question it 20-50 times a day. Its infected my mind. I'm not even at work right now, im doing this while im off work. its genuinely disrupting my life. This feels so insane. Please make an update.

I didn't realize the default search scope had been switched to the folder you're currently showing. If that's the case, it seems easy enough to click up to the top of the hierarchy to do an "everywhere" search. But presumably you can add a user preference for this in settings.

Please make the default search options (Everywhere and In "This Folder") a user setting. There is a glitch when you are using the safari browser it make it very very tedious to switch from search folder to search everywhere. On other browsers it still slows down my workshop when every search I have the extra click to choose search everywhere.

I absolutely prefer searching within the folder tree I am in VS all files. I deal with similarly named files and folders across all of my 100s clients and previously search returned what seemed like arbitrary matches. Being within a client folder and having it search only that folder has been a huge win for me in terms of search showing me the right files. Seriously, a game changer!
so please do not revert this change! i'd be fine if it was some sort of setting or toggle, but I seriously NEED to search in the current folder tree vs all files, I can't go back to the way it was where I had to check the box EVERY search and wait painful 10-30 seconds for the results to load.
Seriously, I can't go back to that

ASAP please!! At least put it back how it was, with Everywhere as the default, immediately.
Then you could also improve it. I agree with other's suggestions to allow user to choose their own default, and also defaults for what to search for... folders, certain file types, etc.

Please make the default search options (Everywhere and In "This Folder") a user setting.

+1 to this. It's been really frustrating to have to toggle that option constantly. Our company primarily searches "everywhere" rather than within folders. Could we make it an account option as to what the default is?

It would also be nice to have folders as a default option for search results

We need everywhere to be a default option also. And please make it so folders can pop up in search results as a default option also.

Most employees at my company want "within current folder" to be the default search.
However, I understand that other companies may want "Everywhere" to be the default.
I think the best solution is to be able to set a default search in account settings or admin console. -

Our team relies heavily on the ability to search across all folders, and the new update that defaults to searching within the current folder has introduced unnecessary steps. This change slows down our workflow, especially when navigating through multiple folders. It would be incredibly helpful to allow users to set 'search everywhere' as the default option, or at least provide a configurable search setting to streamline the process.

Make everywhere the default

Please change this ASAP. This is not a helpful feature at all. The default should be set to search "everywhere."

I would be happy if rather than being a default, if it would just remember what I did last time. That would let me change it on the fly without having to go to settings.

Please go back to the old search function. Now, when you search anything it only looks in the folder you are in. So, if I am deep in a client's folder (and folder inside folder inside folder) and then want to look for a different client, I have to type in their name and then click the small button that says "Everywhere". It is extremely frustrating to have to constantly make that adjustment and it also takes away the predictive search function. It is just clunky, time wasting, and makes no sense

The new search feature where you have to manually click EVERYTHING just to get anything to appear is extremely frustrating. I'm always searching through everything, so unless I click this every single time, search returns nothing. I'm losing my mind. This new search feature should be removed please!
It's fine to keep the current folder as a optional button that you could select to narrow down search results, but I strongly feel that the default search option should be EVERYTHING.

The most recent update to box has made the search feature default to files. I prefer to search for folders. Can this setting be implemented?
