1. Box Drive support for bookmarks to files and folders

   Box Web allows you to paste a link to a file or folder as a bookmark to quickly jump to that location. It would be great to have this work for Box Drive as well. The main use case is that we are moving from traditional Windows file shares to Box Drive. The experience is similar in that the files and folders are mapped in a hierarchical structure. The issue we are having is that some departments rely on Windows shortcuts to jump from one location to another in the shared drive.

   The bookmark functionality seems to be able to function as a traditional shortcut, but they don't show up in Box Drive.

2. Microsoft auto-save to Box for Mac users

   For Mac users, it would be great if Box can be integrated as a storage location within Microsoft applications (eg. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.). For Mac users, the auto-save slider in Microsoft Apps is disabled because the Box storage location is not specified. Please find a solution.

3. BoxDrive behavior of files with the “Browser Use Only” classification label

   We are considering setting up a "Browser Only" classification label for collaborative editing of Office applications to enforce download restrictions so that collaborative editing is only possible in the browser.
   However, when a user tries to open a file with the "Browser Only" label, the viewer and previewer will not be able to open the file because of the download restriction.
   Also, when opening BoxNote from BoxDrive, you will be redirected to the browser, but Office files must be opened by right-clicking on Box.com and previewing them, and when editing, you must perform online editing.

   (1) The basic specification of BoxDrive is that the existence of the contents in the invited folder itself is visible, but when you try to open it, if you do not have download privileges, you cannot download the cached data and cannot open it (editing or even previewing is not possible), but if you do not have download privileges, you can open the cached data in the browser. If you have the preview authority, can you take action such as automatically transitioning to the browser to preview the data?

   If it is difficult to change (1), could you add a function to filter files that cannot be opened from Box Drive (according to conditions such as permissions, labels, etc.)? We are concerned that this will cause confusion among users, lower utilization rates, and unnecessary inquiries, which will lower the efficiency of the entire organization.

   Officeアプリを共同編集するために、「ブラウザーのみ利用」の分類ラベルを設定し、ダウンロード制限をかけブラウザでのみ共同編集できるように強制する運用を検討しております。
   しかし、「ブラウザーのみ利用」のラベルが対がファイルをで開こうとした場合、ダウンロード制限がかかっているためビューアやプレビューアが開くことができない挙動となってしまいます。
   また、BoxDriveからBoxNoteを開くときにはブラウザに遷移いたしますが、Officeファイルは右クリック＞Box.comで開き、プレビューを行い、編集時はOnline編集を実施する必要があります。

   ①BoxDriveの基本仕様として、招待されたフォルダ内のコンテンツの存在自体は見えるのに、いざ開こうとした際に、ダウンロード権限がないとキャッシュデータをダウンロードできず開けない(編集はおろかプレビューすら出来ない)状態ですが、ダウンロード権限がなくともプレビュー権限があるのであれば、ブラウザへ自動遷移してプレビューさせるなりの対応いただけないでしょうか。
   ②①の変更が難しい場合、Box Driveから開くことができないファイル(権限やラベル有無等の条件に応じて)はフィルタ表示させるような機能を追加いただけないでしょうか。BoxDrive上見えているのに、開くことができない運用はユーザの混乱を招き利用率が低下及び、無駄な問い合わせが生じ組織全体の効率が下がることを懸念しております。

4. On Mac, Box Drive has problems opening files after install of Box Tools

   I use Box Drive on my Mac. Ever since installing Box Tools, I am having problems opening files. In particular, after a file was recently opened, changed, and closed, the file seems to get "stuck" syncing back to Box. It freezes up and will no longer re-open or finish uploading unless I fully quit Box Drive and restart it. This happens even if I tell it to refresh the folder or wait for an extensive period of time.

   I'm not sure why there is no better way to report a bug, but my "idea" is for this bug to please be fixed :)

5. hidden files

   We use Box Drive for Backup purposes (company policy dos not allow any other product for that purpose). Would be great to have a possibility to upload also the hidden config files which are marked with a dot in front of the filename (e.g. .abc-config) using macbook.

6. Boolean search function to be applicable to tags

   Would love to use my Box as a Digital Asset Manager but the tag system really needs a boolean search function.

   Boolean searching is used to help find search results faster and with more precision. Boolean searching uses operators: words like AND, OR, and NOT.

   We might have to take pour storage else where due the cost of having both a Box account and a DAM.

7. Lack of clear notification of whether BoxDrive is syncing or not

   There should be a clear icon in the Finder AND in the BoxDrive top menu icon clearly showing whether syncing is on or off. Support told em the only way to know if files are correctly syncing is to look at the files in the Finder and if there are NO ICONS then it's working. The lack of something is not a reasonable way to identify is something is working correctly. PLEASE add a symbol that shows the synching status that is easy to confirm!!

8. Force removal of local copy of item which has been sync'ed

   One of our common workflows on Dropbox was

   • Move large file to the (Dropbox, now Box) folder
   • Wait for (Dropbox, now Box) to upload that content to the cloud storage
   • Right-click on the file and select an option to force it to "Online Only" mode, which would remove the local copy, freeing up the disk space

   It seems that there is no way to do that last bit with Box Drive, and there absolutely should be. For many folks, the premise of cloud storage is "get this off my local disk", and waiting until some random cache times out days later isn't a good, viable, option.

   Right now the only option seems to be the very-kludgy "log completely out of Box" (which is a broadsword solution to a problem that deserves a scalpel).

   One of our common workflows on Dropbox was

   • Right-click on the file and select an option to force it to "Online Only" mode, which would remove the local copy, freeing up the disk space

9. Online-only applied recursively to mixed folder

   It would be great if you could "online-only" a given folder when its contents within are a mix of partially online and offline.

   My workflow often requires me to have individual files sporadically made available offline within folder structures, over weeks and months. Easy to lose track of what's locally stored and what's not.

   I don't seem to have an option available to click on a given folder with partially offline / partially online files and just tell it to all become "online only" in a recursive manner.

   On these types of partially synced folders, all I see is the "make available offline" option. It would be so great if I could select a partially synced folder and tell it to "online-only" all "offline" files within.

   I see other posts here that describe logging out and clearing the entire Box folder structure to make everything "online-only", but I must maintain some folders as "offline".

   It would be great if you could "online-only" a given folder when its contents within are a mix of partially online and offline.

10. Cancel Download(s)

    It's absolutely insane that you cannot cancel file downloads from within the interface. I just started to download a folder locally (make available offline or Download Now option) and realized I didn't need the folder. I cannot cancel it. I have to wait till it finishes to remove it.

11. Issue with File Viewing Recorded as Editing ファイル閲覧が編集として記録される問題

    I would like to request an improvement regarding the issue where simply viewing a file is recorded as editing. Viewing and editing are different activities and should be recorded and displayed separately.

12. Automatic Size All Columns to Fit for Box Drive

    It would be great if all columns in the box drive could be automatically expanded so that file names are not cut off. This feature is available in another product that we used.

13. Upload, copy and paste .DES files.

    I can't paste in my Box Drive folder .des files that come from a software I use. I can upload them manually to the cloud in the web app, but those files won't sync either. This never happened with other cloud service software and I can't work without those files and the program won't run.
    Please accept .des files so I can use Box for my work.

14. Bookmark URL

    It would be nice if “Bookmark” type files were compatible with Windows URL files. Indeed, I have Box Drive installed on my PC and I cannot open URL files from my PC because the extension is not compatible.

15. Requests for additional features in Box Drive v2.33

    We have consolidated our content in Box, and have reduced the amount of space in the user area of our PCs to the point where almost no space exists.
    We also try to keep as little space on the desktop as possible, so the new features in Box Drive v2.33 are not required.

    ■Additional features that were an issue
    Saving unsynchronized files upon logout
    When logging out, users will be able to save files that have not been uploaded to Box.

    ■Functionality Improvement Requests
    Therefore, we would like to see any of the following realized for the ability to save unsaved files to the desktop upon logout.
    Proposal 1: Change the save location from the desktop to another location by changing the registry settings, etc.
    Proposal 2: Change the registry settings so that it is possible to return to the previous specification where files are not saved.
    Proposal 3: The default value of "Keep files that have not been uploaded to Box" can be unchecked by changing the registry settings, etc.

16. Ability to save Sort preference

    Hello! I'd like to be able to save a sort preference for all my folders for the team. So if I number the folders they always appear in name, ascending order. Instead each time you enter a folder you have to sort it.

17. Can't filter search files marked for offline use to unmark quickly and regain HD space.

    NEED ASAP: See file list of marked for "offline use" to quickly/easily unmark to regain HD space. I regularly run low on space locally. Users should have a way for Box to ID files based on cache of local machine—to "unmark all" quickly, AS WELL AS selectively with a list of files marked offline to keep any files "offline available" as needed. A MUST-HAVE feature for managing files, since the whole point of box is file storage and accessibility.

18. Remove the cautionary message at the bottom of file request page

    At the bottom of file request link, the following message is displayed:

    "Before submitting, please make sure that you trust this site, have the rights to the data and want to share this content to the owner of this file request.
    Box Terms of Service|Box Privacy Notice"

    It does not seem professional at all. As we are paying to use the services, this should not be displayed. Okay if you want to advertise that its Box platform, leave the terms and privacy notice. If you are law firm etc, people are already cautious about sending files. the "advice" seems very heavy handed.

    I have been told there is no way to remove this.

    At the bottom of file request link, the following message is displayed:

19. Flag mutliple folders for Offline User

    Currently, in order to mark a folder/file for offline, you have to do it individually. It would be nice to have the ability to drag select folders/file and have the context menu provide the option to mark grouped items as available, as you might with any other native Windows function.

20. Box Drive uses all upload bandwidth when sync

    Set an option to limit the upload (optional and the download) bandwidth when sync is in progress or upload large files, because when devices are connected to slow internet lines, it consumes the entire bandwidth and cannot work properly.
    Note that this is a standad feature of other similar tools.
