Make it easier to filter events that occurred in a particular folder (including subfolders)
Use Case:
- There's a parent folder with multiple levels of sub folders.
- This parent folder is shared out to a group or some external collabs
- Parent folder's owner wants to know how many downloads have happened from the parent folder
Currently, seems like there's two ways to do this but neither are scalable or easy to do if the folder tree is complex:
Option 1:
Run Usage Logs on all download events over the given time period
Export the report
Use Excel or some other program to filter off of the "Contained in folder" column
This requires knowing all of the sub folders contained in the parent folder so you can filter appropriately
Option 2:
Run Usage Logs on all download events over the given time period
Find a download event on a folder that's in the parent folder. Add the folder to the Usage Log filter.
Repeat for all folders contained in the parent folder
Re-run the Usage Log report now that you have all the folders added to your filter
This requires finding a download event for every single sub folder so you can add the folder to the filter

Agreed! And there are at least two other Pulse items open for this "report on folders & subfolders together" functionality, so this is likely even more in demand than shown in this one request.

This feature is particularly critical for my organization as well as other Life Sciences' organizations who may participate in an inspection from a health authority. We need to be able to provide a history of our Box GxP content which tells a story that we have control over our data. Please make this available ASAP!

This comes up all the time for us where a user thinks something may be missing in a folder that multiple people have access to, but they're not sure if it was moved, renamed, or deleted. There isn't an easy way to say, "show me all the activity that happened in the past 3 months on this folder".

One of my construction clients organizes its teams under particular folders, where lots of contractors, subcontractors, and FTE's are collaborating. When something is deleted, edited, or moved, it's very hard with their scale to report on how it happened and by whom to remediate. This would greatly help them in managing these large-scale projects

Also, we would like to be able to include external users in the report

We are unable to run the user activity report due the scale of our enterprise.
We want to run this report (particularly for file copied, download, edit, moved, renamed) for a given folder as this would allow us to get the information of interest, rather than an enterprise wide report that is almost unmanageable to filter after being run.

Include reports to show access into folders such as folder preview (clicking into a folder).

It would be very helpful if there was a report where I could enter a date range and a folder path (or run it from the folder menu) and get the report of actions and users affecting that location.
