Box Drive search for specific folder
Currently there is not way to search for a folder name offline. All you can search for is a file name. This can be problematic if you have multiple files with the same name, but just in different locations. Suggest being able to search for file name and then open file.

The ability to search for items in a specific folder was delivered in Box Drive v2.17!

This is a huge setback when looking a thousands upon thousands of documents to search within dozens or hundreds of subfolders. Not having this feature makes the browser search function useless at times. Very disheartening to discover as a new user.
I'm also not clear if the 10/22/2019 update means this item is on the roadmap (flair) or being considered (text of update).

This lack of basic functionality is not only a bummer, it is significant enough of a deficiency that I'm recommending to our IT team that we discontinue rolling out Box until the functionality is provided or to drop Box altogether as a potential solution.

That's good idea. I wish the same as well.

I would like this capability also. In addition, could you make Box Drive searchable from a Mac Finder window like it worked with Box Sync?

Situations are similar to Casey's - several admin teams have complex structures across units and need to search or filter within a 'folder' to return appropriate results, if only 25 items are returned. Too easy for similarly named documents to result currently, and the needed documents don't make the results without several keywords being entered.

I'd like to add to this. Can you please add "Content Filters" to the box drive search app? E.g. File type, date updated, owners.

This is one of the basic feature a user needs. Going online and searching for a file every time is not an easy thing to do. Apart from this, Box Drive is awesome!

The following 3 ideas can probably be consolidated with this as they're all centered around the idea adding the Web UI search filters to the Box Drive desktop search function. If we consolidate them, then perhaps it'll be easier for folks to identify this and upvote it.

The search tool is a huge issue. We have thousands and thousands of file and cannot remember exactly where each file is saved; especially if it goes back several years. We need a search tool that will allow us to search from any main folder, sub-folders, not just a specific single folder. I do not want to search Box as a whole. Even with that, it is not showing the file I am looking for. It took me over 2 hours to find the file I was looking for. It was in one of the sub-folders which while searching Box as a whole did not even find! What Box needs is to allow searches to navigate the folders in a similar fashion to windows explorer and perform a search within a folder.

We want the capability to do a text search within file contents, both in Box web and Box Drive. Users who had used Box Sync previously found this search feature missing and are reluctant to move to Box Drive. It would also be good if the search in Box Drive could be refined to a folder.

I agree with all the other comments and this original post. This is a severe setback to Box Drive. Unfortunately, our users have voiced there concerns and frustrations with the search feature and will ultimately decide to move over to OneDrive which we also offer. If more people decide to use OneDrive then there is no need for us to continue to pay for Box Drive.

This is a serious limitation to the functionality and work flow for using box drive. It is a pain to have to logon to the browser and do this in the cloud interface.

This is a big roadblock for us rolling out Box Drive. Most of the pushback we receive is due to the missing ability to search on a specific folder

We need the ability to filter searches in Box Drive. The current search feature only allows you to search everything you have access to. We are a construction company and if someone has access to 5 jobsites data and need a specific form used on all sites, its very difficult to know which one is which. Having the ability to filter or search only in specific folders in Box Drive is necessary. The search feature should mimic that of what is available in the web interface.

Currently: You can only search Box Drive as a whole. If you search a keyword, every item in your Box account with the keyword will appear regardless of what subfolder its in
Desired: Function more like a native search tool--search specific subfolders, drag and drop files, preserve folder views between uses, and advanced searching (search by date, last modified, etc).

I would like to have more granular search capabilities for Box Drive (e.g. ability to navigate to a folder in Drive, search only in that folder)
