Need to be able to run user activity report for Box users that were deleted
Need to be able to run reports for user activity for user account that have been deleted. Once a user is deleted I can't run any historical user activity in case there is any request for that information.

Box sees all accounts created, whether enabled or disabled, as a used license. The options are to either buy more licenses or delete users. When you delete a user, all of their historical data is deleted as well. Buying more licenses just to keep this data isn't a viable and also a costly solution. Most companies have data retention policies where we have to produce data about a user. I would like to see this implemented so I can delete users without fearing data loss.

I'd like to suggest that there be an option in Box Admin, for each Co-admin to store a 'default' user admin report date range. eg from 01/01/2023 to date, or 'last 3 months' etc
As a Co-admin deletes a user's Box account, it should trigger a scheduled/overnight report to run for that period for the user's account that is being deleted.
That report, on completion, would be available in the co-admin's Box reports folder, in same way as other reports that are run.
This avoids a) co-admins having to request Box Support to restore deleted Box accounts, and b) provides an audit report for leavers, in case needed in subsequent investigations/searches

Can we have an update on this?

With the new legislation under GDPR and potential subject access request for unlimited period of time is forcing us to report on specific user and without the ability to filter the parameters of the reports for deleted accounts, the extract of all data is loo great to manage. For a 2 years snapshot, Box generated 144 .csv files which took me a couple of days to search through. I simply do not have that kind of time spare.
We do not process account deletion individually but use an automated method for mass deletion via script based on leavers reports as we deal with 9000+ personnel and high turnover of staff so the advise given so far from Box to generate those reports before we delete the leaver is not practical/possible.We are having to develop more scripts to manage the raw reports from Box such as Shared Link as no filters are available to us to narrow down the search for specific group. But the one for deleted accounts its not a nice to have but a must.

FAO Box
There hasn't been an update on this ask since 9th Dec 2021. Can you advise what is needed for this work to be planned?
Not all app user will report issue or flag when improvements are required, so I am hoping that you triage development workload on more that amount of votes on a particular subject but address the needs based on priority and risk as well.
Thank you in advance -

As part of an in house IT team of a large NGO with over 500 shops and 5k staff globally, we have a high turnover of staff and so being able to run a report for Leavers and Deleted would help us to keep our data secure and safe and would also help with Auditing

Not being able to generate an activity report for a deleted user is a massive issue for large organisations with high turnover of staff.... Takes so much time to filter the mass reports to the point of being unusable for urgent data access requests. If we were not forced to delete inactive accounts because of the licencing model, we will not have that challenge so there is definitely an admin need to get this addressed.

This has come up in the context of research and academic integrity investigations after a person has left. It can also come up in patent law cases, where it can be critical to establishing disclosure of intellectual property.

Not being able to pull reports on specific deleted users makes post-exit audits of user activity almost impossible.

Our organisation would see this as very beneficial. That via the user activity report we could report on all our users regardless of status. The way to do this now is too complicated based on if we have information on a file they may have accessed and a timeline, Or pulling all user activity and then filtering, The information is all there, It would make it much easier that if I placed in there email it should return there activity. Please look into this, thank you

Not being able to continue to audit and filter by deleted user's emailid to pull activity reports is a huge drawback of deleting users to clean up the user accounts for licensing. There is definitely an admin need to get this addressed. It is not practical to download an enormous amount of activity data to then go again filter. Also, there is workbook limitations on how much data you can load into excel. It would be Great if Box still allowed the deleted users emailid or upon to filter to easily pull reports.
