Metadata table(row: files, column: metadata keys)
We are looking for a table type of view of files(row) and metadata keys(column), that allows us to be able to configure their own views of data in Box.
It allows us to...
- configure the view with applying metadata templates(can select the keys to show)
- filter and sort the view
- update metadata directly from this view
- export the view of data to a csv file
This sort of solution helps users to reduce the time spent for searching the content and updating the metadata values(and it would be competitive with SharePoint library view).
A box-native metadata table is not currently on the roadmap, but we have launched our metadata query toolkit alongside a content-explorer element that can emulate the same experience.

Note that the version listed in the video was to showcase and see if there was a market for it. We will have our next version released soon.

When picking templates for assigning to a file they are not alphabetically sorted as it is with folders. We would like the templates to be alphabetically sorted for when picking for file assignment.

We need this feature combined with multiple meta data search. The multiple meta data search result to be displayed in a tabulated view, with file name, meta data as columns. Also allow user to sort by the columns. This will allow user to create filtered view. When files are stored in different folders, but user can create a view with search criteria to have a virtual folder view. So user can access a group of files in one place, rather to navigate to each folder to access the files.

One first step could be,
if there where a visual collumn for the "description" value with a fixed lenght -

We would also want to be able to include the columns of metadata based on the templates such as Classifications to be shown in the users default file view rather than making them have to click on each separate file to see the value.
