Ability to open a file in Box Drive from a shared link accessed via the web
After opening a shared link in Web App, a user should be able to open the file directly in Box Drive.

Any news on this one? I fully agree on this need

Agreed. This would be an incredible time saver. Every time I'm emailed a Box.com URL, I have to manually browse Box Drive to find the mirrored/'local' file.

This will improve efficiency from day to day work.

This would be a wonderful idea, having so many folks working remote, just sayinnnnnn....

This would be extremely helpful. We have just rolled out Box to 1,000 people who predominantly use Box Drive - I've been asked for this many times!

Having this feature would save a lot of hassle and confusion from opening up the link in a browser first and then having to search for it in Box Drive later on.

"Not planned" isn't at all helpful and doesn't reflect real-world working practices. A shared Box link in a Windows environment requires opening in a browser and subsequent sign in which might also include 2FA. Maintaining an online, unsecured set of Box folders is not good practice. The Box app performs this task perfectly well so why not Windows?

Sometimes it's confusing to know exactly where a link takes you in a browser without then opening the tree and find out where you are at. Opening in the Finder (Mac) would allow you to browse more like a server and make ease of access if you want to open another tab should you need to work in multiple places at the same time (which I happen to do all day long).

Please add this. Not sure how long longer term roadmap is, but I believe there is a strong demand for such a feature, in my firm and others.

It would be great if I could open a Box web folder link in my Box desktop app.
Thanks -

We want to open a file from a shared link received via email, etc. directly via Box Drive without going through a browser.

This would be super helpful in streamlining our workflow! I'd love to be able to open files locally rather than in web since I already have Box Drive installed.
This would especially useful for editing Office files.

I agree, "Yes, now that I've switched to mostly using Box Drive, when I receive a shared Box link from a colleague, I'd like it to open in Box Drive, not in Box web portal. Thanks."

Maybe the reason there isn't more demand is that this is a blocker. At least it is for two folks in my team. They'd rather I send them big PPTs by email rather than them having to scroll and scroll through different hierarchies to find the file.

agree and also needed for MacOs Finder. It's very annoying right now that when a colleague shares a file through a box link you cannot know where it is located in the folder structure of box

It would be great having the option for shared links to be opened in the Windows Explorer directly (if Box Drive / Box Sync is installed). Today, when a shared link is clicked, e.g. on Slack, it opens in the web browser, adding complexity to the workflow (e.g. having to log in, limited editing functionality, etc.). Most of our team today revert to clicking the shared link just to identify the location of the file in the browser, then finding and opening the file manually on Box Drive.

When opening a box.com link, the site should detect that I have box drive installed, then prompt me to open the file locally or go to the folder in finder/explorer.
Better yet, Box drive could intercept the url, check if the file is local and open it seamlessly if it finds it.
