Ability to 'Hide' Folders I've Been Added To
As a user, I've likely been added to numerous folders that I do not need to access daily or even often, but still need to remain a collaborator in. A 'hide folder' option may help with this, where a user would be able to hide a folder form their All Files view, but the user would not actually be removed as a collaborator from the folder. They would then be able to access all 'hidden' folders via a menu option on the left rail (or elsewhere).
30 votesFolder sprawl is an interesting challenge many of us face! To combat this, we’re recommending that users use the upcoming ‘Collections’ feature to group together content that’s frequently used vs. hiding content that’s infrequently used.

Automatic warning when generating "people with link" shared link
Generating a shared link with "people with link" settings is very easy for end users, to the point where they might not realize the degree to which they open that content up to hard-to-mitigate, external distribution. An automatic warning, when an end user selects" people with link," is required per company security policy.
1 voteWe understand the concern and believe the proper way to implement this is to either allow the admins to default shared links to “people in my company” and/or when a user selects “people with link” and admin can select a setting to pop up a warning message. We wouldn’t want to implement this by default to all customers since this is adding friction to sharing which will have a negative effect on that action.

Permanent Folder Tree View in Webapp (Similar to Windows Explorer/Finder)
Currently we have a 'jump to folder' option that provides a modal for navigating by using a folder tree view. Many customers would like this same tree view of their content as a permanent sidebar in the webapp for faster/easier 1) navigation and 2) context for where they're at in any given folder tree.

Ability to change default collaborator level globally
Customer is requesting the ability to change the default collaborator level upon adding a new collaborator. The default level is now Editor, but the customer wants to set the default to Viewer Uploader or something else to protect against provisioning too much access to users.
Additionally, the customer wants to collaborate with many customers (external users) and would like to provision appropriate access to those users (preferably not Editor).

Allow special characters within Box Bookmarks
Allow URLs to contain special characters when creating Bookmarks within Box
1 voteThis is not planned for our near or long term roadmap. We will reconsider with added use cases and/or customer demand.

We would need to do additional discovery before prioritizing this request.
Why would a user be provisioned and blocked?
How often does this happen?
How do customers deal with this today?
How many customers have this issue? -
Ability to block or hide certain Groups from all other users when selecting names or groups to share content
For example, Group A is Executives only so Admin wouldn't want another non-exec user to see that Group name when selecting collaborators.
Not a high priority issue, but one use case is for HIPPA bound groups.
0 votesThank you for this suggestion. This is a resource-intensive feature which is not prioritized for our current roadmap.

Detection and blocking of distribution lists
We use many distribution lists to communicate.
Technically, Box does not stop you from adding a distribution list email as a collaborator to a folder. All members of the list get email notifications but access to the folder is not granted to anyone on the list. This is expected.
This suggestion is merely a protection measure that can be addressed by user education, so it may have a low impact.
0 votesThis is an interesting request and likely something we should look into for future improvements to how we handle distribution lists.
Because there’s a workaround and we have higher impact requests, we will table this suggestion for now.
