Shared With Me - Folder Management for Collaboration Folders
We would like to have a "Shared with Me" folder for any folders we have been collaborated into.
We continually get feature requests for Box to allow a way to organize content shared with me. For example, I'd like to create a "Shared with me" folder that all the content shared with me could be organized into.
I envision this could happen in one of a few ways and there would need to be some determination how much control the end user has....
Option 1:
- Allow end users to check a setting that would create a folder called "Shared With Me". This would also move all folders that someone shared with me into the "Shared With Me" folder.
Option 2:
- Allow end users to manually move folders shared with them into a folder structure of their own design. For example I may create folders such as "Shared from Jim", "Shared from Carol", or "Shared by Andrew

Yes you guys have got to add the ability for an added user to move their folder within their own structure without deleting their permissions. It's silly to require that a shared folder live on the root of the second users system. Feels totally arbitrary. As an end user I should be able to move any folder anywhere without breaking the connection. Box and its collaborative features should agnostic as to where I store a collaborative folder provided it's not put inside of a separate collaborative folder for security reasons (i.e. I should not be able to nest / move a collaborative folder to the root of a folder that I share with another user).
Option 2 above states this reasonably

Please implement option 2. This problem is making my box home folder unusable

Please listen to your users and implement this. Colleagues regularly share folders with me relating to sub-strands of larger projects for which I have my own folder structures. Not being able to simply move folders that have been shared with me into my existing folder structures is incredibly annoying and means relevant information about projects are scattered around in various places - it's very messy. This was requested years ago and nothing has happened - why?

Option 2 please!!

Looks like this request is dead in the water given the last admin response was almost two years ago, but it is baffling to me how at least Option 1 has not been implemented in the eight years since it was requested. This is a problem that any sizable organization has with Box and I find it maddening.

How has this still not been implemented? Please, Box team -- we've been begging for this since 2017, if not before.

This feature is absolutely necessary. -

Option 2 should be standard.

Yes! This is absolutely necessary - my personal Box folders are very organized and it is very disruptive to my workflow that I can't categorize folders shared with me into structures that make more sense to me. I end up losing track of so much because the folders are so disorganized.

Option 2 is absolutely mandatory. This is very much a basic feature and without it Box is almost unusable.
Everyone that I work with hates Box for this very reason. This is a basic Must-Be Feature (Kano Model) and honestly it's wild that this is not a top priority.
Everyone I work with would rather use Dropbox or Google Drive (and does) for this exact reason whenever they have the opportunity.

This is absolutely needed. We frequently have problems that folders are accidentally dropped into shared folders because they are all disorganized at the top level. If the shared folder is owned by a collaborator, the accidentally moved folder often can't be retrieved without the collaborator's help.

Either would be an improvement, but preference to option 2.

Option 2.
I can't believe that this idea was proposed in 2017 but not implemented in 2024.

100% Option 2.
And why is this not a thing yet? There are posts complaining about this lack of functionality since at least 2020!
Most of my folders are shared with me, so whenever I have to use my company's Box, it takes me several minutes to find anything because everything is *so* unorganized. Please implement this soon.

I’ve been experiencing the same issue for years and it’s really frustrating.

This needed to happen like yesterday. My organization is having tremendous difficulty migrating from Google Drive because of this. We're so cross-functional that files become unwieldy.

100% Option 2.

Either option would be a dramatic improvement (especially if one uses Box Drive). Option 2 would be far superior in my opinion, though.
