Shared With Me - Folder Management for Collaboration Folders
We would like to have a "Shared with Me" folder for any folders we have been collaborated into.
We continually get feature requests for Box to allow a way to organize content shared with me. For example, I'd like to create a "Shared with me" folder that all the content shared with me could be organized into.
I envision this could happen in one of a few ways and there would need to be some determination how much control the end user has....
Option 1:
- Allow end users to check a setting that would create a folder called "Shared With Me". This would also move all folders that someone shared with me into the "Shared With Me" folder.
Option 2:
- Allow end users to manually move folders shared with them into a folder structure of their own design. For example I may create folders such as "Shared from Jim", "Shared from Carol", or "Shared by Andrew

Does anyone else get the feeling that box is a bit retro?

Seriously. The amount of times I've had to sort through folders people shared with me called "Images" is just too many to count. Let us organize folders that get shared to our accounts!

Agree, my main folder is a mess because of this. this should be high priority to fix.

My previous organization used Dropbox and it always had this functionality (at least since I started using it in 2014). I am really disappointed to see that Box doesn't have it. Come on, keep up with the competition!!

This is probably the most important features to improve user experience. As Box is partnered with my university, the root folder is quickly flooded by shared folders with random names, which deters me (and everyone, as far as I know) from opening it unless absolutely necessary. I really want to make more use of Box – but I cannot look at the messy root folder.

Some variety of Option 2 is best, but for Option 1, it would be easy to implement a control in the All Files view:
- Hide items shared with me
- Show only items shared with me
- Show everything -

This is 2023 and why don't we have this functionality yet?
Having a chaotic root directory is idiotic as it is almost impossible to find the directory we need.I would like to suggest a mixture of Options 1 and 2; i.e., all of the shared folders are located in "Share With Me" and end users can manually organize the folders within that folder.
I believe having "Share With Me" is a good idea for clarity as well as the point of view from security. Still, we definitely need the ability to organize shared folders for productivity. -

Option 2!

Option 2 would be best in my opinion. This has already been implemented by Box's competitors, including Google Drive.
This would make it much easier to find items because I can organize them myself. Right now, my root folder is a mess of files shared by other people that I cannot organize. This list will only grow longer as my account continues to receive more shared documents from colleagues.

I like Option 2 best, since it allows for more control over folder organization. However, Option 1 would still be an improvement from the current system.

I prefer Option 2, but Option 1 would be way better than what you have now.

Option 2 PLEASE!
- Allow end users to manually move folders shared with them into a folder structure of their own design. For example I may create folders such as "Shared from Jim", "Shared from Carol", or "Shared by Andrew" -

Option 2 would be excellent (allow users to organize shared folders however they please). I would settle for Option 1 (a "Shared with Me" folder in the root directory that contains shared folders).
I agree with others that this feature is way overdue. Box is a really good tool EXCEPT for the lack of this feature. My root folder is a total mess because I can't currently move or organize folders that are shared with me.
As a result, Box is not currently a product I can recommend to colleagues until some version of this feature is implemented. Thanks for moving it forward.

Option 2 please

Option 2 is needed to be competitive with Dropbox. It's the only reason that I am still using Dropbox and hardly use Box at all, even though the latter is free through my institution. I would gladly pay a premium for this feature.

Simply a switch that'd display what is shared and what I own. Otherwise, store all shared content into a "shared with me" folder, but please do something. I heard it was one feature to be available several months ago.

I'd vote for option 2, though option 1 would already be a big step forward.

Get these collaboration folders out of my root folder. Fire all your UI designers. this is an idiotic way of organizing files (aka absolutely no organization)

Option 2 please!!

How is this not created yet. This is a terrible problem for BOX users when the whole intention is organization and sharing.
