I am trying to see if I can lock down folders to prevent people from accidental moving or deletion.
In Box Drive (File Explorer), sometimes our users accidentally move folders into other folders, not realizing what they did. Then people cannot find what they are looking for. Is there a way we can prevent this? Or is there a way we can prevent this for higher-level folders? Or is there a way a user can receive a prompt along the lines of "Are you sure you wish to move this folder?"

Display warning if a document is open
Display a warning similar to read-only if another team member has a file open. Currently this is not possible without code installed at the individual PC level and there is no solution with MAC (just confirmed with support). The conflicting versions can be frustrating for teams and the tiny lock icon is just not a large enough warning when opening from box drive.
21 votesFor Office files stored in Box, we are enabling the capability coauthor in real-time with collaborators. This will eliminate issues that arise when creating conflict copies. For other files types that do not support coauthoring, we do not have a feature planned on our roadmap, to notify users when the file is locked outside of the lock icon that is displayed on the file in the Explorer/Finder view.
We will place this in our backlog as we continue evaluating ideas to improve Box Drive.
Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Ability to display and move the BoxDrive search window anywhere

Pause and Resume Uploads or downloads to or from Box
The ability to Pause Downloads + Uploads so that Resource intensive tasks on other software can be carried out on a single computer/device without being slowed down by Box Transferring large amounts of data to/from the device to cloud. The ability to resume Downloads + Uploads after resource intensive tasks are completed.
Not everyone/every company has the budget to have expensive "workhorse" computers or Gigabit internet (not to mention a lot of places dont even have gigabit internet. (Im lucky enough to have access to both where I work and I STILL run into issues from time to time)

Box Drive support MacOS Monterey
Box does not support Box Drive aliases with Mac OS Monterey. We need this feature back so users don't remove/delete files and folders from Box by mistake.

Allow login to Box Drive from different Microsoft account
It used to be possible to log into Box Drive from my work account whilst logged in as a different Microsoft user on the desktop. This has now stopped working and forces login via my desktop account. This means that Box Drive is now completely useless to me.

Ability to manually update a Box Drive version (menu option)
I would like to see version update added to the right-click menu of the app so that I can manually update when the latest version of BoxDrive is released.
Currently, Box Edit and Box Drive are designed to automatically update their versions, but depending on the user, the timing of implementation may be delayed or there may be cases where the version is not automatically updated.
In order to deal with this, we have to uninstall and reinstall the tool, which is very inconvenient.

Full Image Thumbnail Option
For the image thumbnails, is there a way to toggle the view, so that one can see the entire image vs. a cropped version? I've noticed a recent change where all thumbnails are cropped, and in order to view the full image you need to click to open each individual file, which is a less efficient browsing method. Is it possible to return to the previous viewing option to see the full image within each thumbnail?

Two User accounts on same Windows 10 computer
There should be a possibility that two users on the same windows 10 computer, each user separately logging into his/her own windows account, could each log into his/her own box account and use box drive. BoxDrive is much more convenient that to go via the browser. This seems not possible now.
Additionally it is annoying that the the box drive shows up for login when the second user enters the windows account, and if startup of box is switched off for that user, then it is also switched off for the main user (the admin user who has made the…1 vote -
Save file preferences
The classification of my preferences of how I want the files to appear are not saved and you have to be changing it every so often, it is quite annoying

Dragging files or folders out of BOX makes a copy
With the recent update to BOX Drive, when you move something from BOX to your computer it removes it from BOX. It used to make a copy by default. We use BOX as a shared file server and this change allows for accidental deletion.
Can you please add the ability to make this copy rather than move the file, only when moving out of BOX onto the computer or an outside volume?

Add Ability to view Overflow Files in Box
It would be really helpful and can save us alot time if we are able to view the actual Overflow interaction flows in Box. That way we can provide comments and feedbacks on the file. Currently, we can only comment on exported PDF's since Overflow is not supported and can't be viewed.

Select Upload Limit, Pause Uploads
Hello, I have multiple ideas for this relatively limited featured app:
We should be able to select how many items we wish to upload at a time, instead of this default 10 or so at a time. If I've got a busy schedule, I sometimes want to achieve a few uploads at time and then pause (next point).
We should definitely be able to Pause Uploads, Dropbox has it, OneDrive has it, why not Box. For my work, I need my bandwidth quite often, so currently the only way of "pausing" is closing the app completely, and not knowing whether…

More detailed error handling with sync errors
We have a user who is on Box Drive that has had several sync errors come up on his Box Drive client over the last week, but when he clicks on the info icon next to the s"9 items with sync errors message" it just gives them a generic error message with no details about which files can't be synced or how long they haven't been synced. I don't know if there's an existing solution for this, but thought I'd mention it here.

Improvement to display a pop-up message when a locked file is opened as read-only
When a locked file is opened in BoxDrive, there are some cases where the user does not realize that the file is read-only and updates the file.
We are aware that the pop-up message can be displayed by enabling the auto-lock option or the lock at prompt option, but this option is limited to Office files only.
We would like to improve the functionality so that all users and all files will have a pop-up message confirming that the file is locked and opened as read-only, even if this option is not enabled.（In Japanese）

Box Drive should copy by default on macOS

a change when moving to newer Box Drive, or upgrading to Monterey, results in the serious change of drag and drop is now a move instead of a copy.
If a user ever accidentally drags a file to their local drive, it takes it out of Box, and trashes the original, it eliminates the previous object ID for the file, it trashes all prior versions of the file.
This simple mistake can break every link that a company may have for a particular object in documents, bookmarks, etc. Or, if the user doesn't realize they'd moved…

A snapshot of contents within a Box drive folder
Have you ever looked at a top-level Box folder and felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to dig through and drill down to every sub-folder just to know what the contents are?
Do you get discouraged at the thought of looking for a single file that could possibly exist way down the rabbit hole of Box folders and sub-folders?
