Allow multi-file downloads greater than 20GB by streaming as gzipped tar
Downloading multiple files via the Box web interface is currently limited to a total file size of 20GB. I assume this is due to needing server-size storage to create a temporary zip file for the download. If, instead, there were an option to download the selected files in gzipped tar format, there would be no-need for additional server-side storage (because both tar and gzip are streaming formats) and there would be no need to cap the download size.

Fix file/folder size, counts, dates and storage
I'd like to preface this by saying that this is a bug that needs to be fixed, not an idea. Even so, Box suggested we post this here to get others to chime in and say that this should be fixed.
This is a problem that's been around for at least 1.5 years.
Often, when an account's folders and files are transferred to someone else, the account from which the data was transferred still shows something greater than 0 bytes owned. This becomes a problem for deleting that user, because we can't be sure if the transfer worked, and…
142 votesWe are on track towards fixing this. We have made significant improvements in our Files, and Folder counts and their related sizes. They now happen in a near realtime speed and we also have a redundant process that runs and fixes these counts nightly. The current improvements are visible in most of your folders browsing experience and the enterprise level counts. We are in process of fixing counts that you can see for a given user, this will release in Calendar year 2024'Q3. There are also few minor improvements planned for the last quarter of the year.

View file audit log with "Deleted users" name on files even after users have been removed.
It is not a feature of Box to allow "file audit logs" to persist on files showing a deleted users name as the person who made the changes and currently when you remove a user all the collaborators (non-admins) can see is "user made change" instead of the person's name. Yes, you can pull a file management report, but that is for admins and does not provide the teammates of the file any insight as to who was the person that made this change, nor does it help admins determine it easily either. I would like for the…

upload speed limit
There should be a possibility to limit the upload speed in order to still being able to work during the upload of larger files. Currently there is no possibility to limit the upload speed which leads to Box using all my upload bandwidth.

Shared Links - Ability to Have Multiple Shared Links per Item (Folder/File)
Currently, Box's shared link system is a 1:1 ratio between items (files/folders) and shared links, meaning there's 1 shared link per item.
However, there are various scenarios where users would like to have the ability to create multiple shared links per item, each link with different permissions, etc.
Example Use Case: For File A...
--I want one 'people with the link' link with a password added and an auto-expiration set for 10 days from today so that I can share this link to time-sensitive content externally
--I also want a persistent 'people in your company' link that my…3 votes -

COPY / MOVE API events to include origin file's ID, name and location
Currently there is no way to know which file was copied/moved in Box Events API. It is only possible to see the destination file name and location, and only if the file was copied/moved within one Box instance. This presents a major challenge for customers who want to build custom programs that monitor copy/move activity both inside and outside their Box instances.
39 votesWe have released this change for Copy, and the change for Move is coming in the upcoming months.

separate owned file/folders view from all files/folders view
We need the ability when viewing a users list of files and folders to show only content owned by user. Right now files that have any collaboration at all do not show differently if owned by user or not. Ideally, we could toggle a view filter to show only files/folders owned by user if needed.

Request to add Chunk Downloads, download resume feature
When a large file fails to download, users will have to start the download from the beginning all over again. We would like a retry/resume feature.
10 votesGood morning, Box supports 'HTTP Range Headers' for downloads that allow Browsers or any compatible client to request ranges of the data instead of the full file at once. This allows browsers to pause and resume downloads from Box. More details about HTTP Range Headers here: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/R.

The current upload limit for the email listener in Box is 50MB. There should be options to increase.

Differentiate between Create Files and Create Folders in Collaborator level permissions
For certain cases, we want to be able to allow internal and/or external collaborators to be able to upload/create a file but NOT be able to create a new subfolder.

Python example for "create upload session" is wrong
The Python sample for "Create upload session" seems wrong:
What you provided is:
filesize = 26000000
uploadsession = client.file('11111').createuploadsession(file_size)But it should be:
client.folder('11111').createuploadsession(filesize, filesize).Please check and confirm.

If I move a file, let me leave a hint to the new location in the original folder
When a shared file or folder is renamed and/or moved to a different folder, retain a hint in its original location that it's been moved so that "Search in folder" can helpfully inform that the file/folder has been moved or renamed, and provide a link to the new location. The user does not need to see the current name of the file, or its new location. When they follow the link, they access the file/folder according to how it's shared at its new location.
An expandable "Recently moved" area in each folder could provide a compact list…

Alias files/ links to files
Oftentimes, a file has more than just one "right place" within a folder structure.
For example, if you have a folder for the HR-department and a folder for the legal-team, both teams need to access the subfolder "employment contracts".
On local Windows Explorer or Apple Finder it is possible to create alias-files that link to the "main-file", so you can access a file from multiple locations.
Such a feature is not available in Box. Since it is cruicial for files that needs to be accessed from different locations/ teams, I am asking you to implement…3 votes -
Add ability to batch rename multiple files
I'd like to be able to select all contents of a folder (ex. images taken by a particular photographer at an event) and standardize all file names (ex. EventPhotographer Name (1), EventPhotographer Name (2),...)
This is simple to do in Windows Explorer, but I really do not want to download and then re-upload for something so minor!4 votes -
Allow me to link to other folders and files in box
I can create a bookmark to another folder in box, but the experience and visualisation of these is not useful - links to folders get lost in the file list.
Bookmarks to other folders in box, should be listed as a folder, not a file, perhaps with a different icon to show they are linked folders rather than hierarchic folders.

Add "Last Accessed Date" as a file property
Many cleanup/archival processes could be run via the API if this date was quickly accessible. Currently, one needs to look at events or reports to determine this date which is not feasible at scale for reports and Events API only goes back one year.

Custom Subdomain on Upload API Endpoint
When a Box instance is setup to use a custom subdomain, the upload API endpoint should use the subdomain. For example, acme.upload.app.box.com instead of upload.app.box.com. This will make it easy to setup corporate firewall rules that prevent users from uploading content into personal Box accounts

Disable 'Upload via Email' Admin Setting Globally
Currently, the 'Upload via Email' setting (that's shown on the Folder Settings page) is always enabled, and admins have no way of disabling this setting globally in their instance.
REQUEST: Add a new option to Admin Console -> Enterprise Settings -> Security -> Uploads that gives Admins the ability to disable this setting/option globally.
