create folder while making workflow
Allow users when they are building a relay workflow to have the ability to search through a folder structure and create a new folder when they are building a new flow.
This would eliminate the issue of users having to have a predefined folder structure before making the workflow and make it significantly easier to use.

Get rid of the green 'refresh' bar when uploading a new document
Give the user access to disable the green 'refresh' pop-up bar. It’s annoying and requires to be click before you can move on. I challenge your staff to spend a day working in Box, loading and uploading docs – you’ll get tired of it VERY quickly.
Don’t need more clicks in the workflow!

Box Drive Sync Delay Indicator
Box Drive is supposed to mirror the files on the server. But we experience delays of five minutes to over an hour between when we complete an upload to Box and when other users can see the file in Box Drive. We end up having to use the web portal more frequently to download files rather than waiting for them to appear, which creates version issues and nullifies the most attractive feature of Box Drive. The old Box Sync software used red or green dots to indicate if a file had synced. Is there a way to add such an indicator to Box Drive so we can tell if a file is available on Box but not yet reflected in Box Drive?

For files, folders and users name, we need to use U+10000 - U+10FFFF in Unicode characters.
Today, we can only use BMP in Unicode characters on Box.
However, Windows OS supports many Unicode characters(eg, emoji), besides BMP, so this can be a problem in data migration from a file servers to Box.
Also, in CJK, Unicode characters other than BMP are used in personal name, so we consider this to be a big issue.
We hope to have many Unicode characters available everywhere on Box.

Increase the maximum number of Shield Classifications beyond 25 so that we can classify each clients content to prevent mis-sharing
I would like to see the ability to add Shield Classifications per client - with the appropriate access policy (restricting to client email domain) we could avoid any possibility to overshare when inviting the wrong clients into a folder or sharing a shared link - There is a maximum number of classifications of 25 so could this be extended to facilitate this use case/control.
25 votesWe will have a different solution to address the use case.

transferring annotations
Hi. I'm a professor and I created a BoxNote with a text I want my students to annotate collaboratively. I added some annotations, comments, and hyperlinks to get them started. Then I copied this BoxNote to another folder for a second section of the class. The hyperlinks transferred, but the annotations and comments did not. It would be cool if BoxNote supported the total transfer of material in a text, not just the hyperlinks. AND I can't copy and paste all those annotations so now I have to type it all up from scratch. That's a drag. Please design a way to transfer everything when you copy a BoxNote. Thanks.

Ability to see (and if permitted, restore) deleted files
Box currently does not have the ability to show deleted files in a particular folder. Only the owner and the user who deleted files will see them in Trash but not by folder. With large numbers of files in multiple folders, this becomes quite unmanageable quickly and relying on the folder owner to restore files is unnecessarily restrictive.
Folders should have an option to see deleted files and if permitted (editor or higher, or a separate permission) allow users other than the owner and the user who deleted files to restore them.

"File Request Link" report similar to the "Shared Link" report
Would like Org level report on what folders have "File Request Links" very similar to the "Shared Link" report. We need to report on what folders are shared publicly.

Apptec
We use an EMM called Apptec360 to manage our mobile devices. It would be nice if this can be supported by Box for EMM.

Remove shares no longer available after the owner was deactivated
We deactivated one user who retired. The folders he owned disappeared in Box Web for the shared users but they didn't disappear in Box drive, so users could still create files which were not saved in Box.
Could deactivated shares be updated very quickly in Box Drive to avoid that behavior please?4 votes -

Box Drive Accidental Deletion
Since the introduction of Box Drive end users that haven't read the documentation and skip through the walkthrough aren't used to seeing all of the files and folders.
The user without realizing, then believes that all of these files and folders either aren't needed or are taking up physical space on their hard drive. The user then either randomly deletes select files and folder or just deletes everything within Box Drive. A solution is needed to either further alert or prevent this. One other possible solution is to create a process to fully restore all of the deletions and collaborations.
When this happens, it literally deletes all of the files and folders from Box. For the user that made the deletion, it will also remove them as a collaborator from those files and folders the user didn't own.
This causes a number of issues and use cases:
- The user realizes the mistake, stops the deletion and restores all of the data from the Trash via the Box UI. -Since the user was removed as a Collaborator, it is physically impossible to restore the shared folders and files because those physically sit in the Owner's Trash. The Owner or an Admin has to manually restore the data. -Depending on the timing if the restore is done versus the deletion, the user may or may not still be a collaborator on the Parent/Child folders, thus causing Orphaned Folders and Files during the restore. In this case, all of the Orphaned Files and Folders will be restored to the user that is restoring the data without any of the previous Collaborators
2. The user creates a ticket with the Admin and the Admin manually restores the data; however, this can still have all of the same issues as #1 unless the data is all restored without breaking the Parent/Child relationships
Current Admin recommended steps for resolution:
1. Run the Collaboration Report EVERY day
2. As soon as the issue is reported, run the User Activity Report for the user for the last 30 days (this will help when checking the unique ID's of deleted versus restored in Step #10), specifically selecting the "Moved to trash" (under File Management) and "Removed collaborator" (under collaboration)
3. Filter through the report to see what folders the user has been removed from as well as how many items were deleted and from where (specifically looking for the parent folders to not cause orphaning when restoring)
4. Based on that list, take the Collaboration report from #1 and filter it based off of the user that made the deletions email in column I named Collaborator Login. This provides the list of folders and folder Owners that once the data is restored could still possibly have data in their trash
5. Login to the user's account or have the user that deleted the data, change the Files and Folders Per Page to 100 in Account Settings
6. Go to the Trash and select the "Items I Deleted Drop" down and either select the items to restore or select "Restore All" (this could restore files that truly should be deleted)
7. If there were no errors restoring, then run the Activity report again with the same settings from step #2 and also include "Restored from trash" (Under File Management), if there were errors skip to Step #11 otherwise go to step #8
8. Filter the report for "Trash" and take all of the Unique ID's for the "Affected ID" Column G and de-dupe that in a new sheet
9. Filter the report for "Undelete" and take all of the Unique ID's for the "Affected ID" Column G and de-dupe that in another new sheet
10. Compare those ID's, if they data sets are the same then all data has been restored. Please note that if a "Restore all" was done on the trash this could include data deleted before that date and may have restore id since the reports include 30 days
11. If the data sets don't match, then take the Collaboration report from #4 and as an Admin, log into each individual account and restore the deleted file from the Trash just like in #6 or reach out to the user's and have them do this (if files were orphaned, please check the root level for the user that restored the data)
12. To be 100%, the same activity report from #7 will need to be ran for every user that data was restored from but in this case only for the respective day and then compare the same way as step #10 with the existing ID's gathered in step #10
13. Finally, if still this doesn't line up log back into the account that deleted the data and check the root level for the possibly Orphaned files/foldersThis is the only way to be certain 100% everything has been restored

Removing Selected Subfolders
I am a software developer, and I use Box so that I can access my code at work and at home. If there is a folder called Project1 with my solution files in it, the act of opening that solution or building that solution will create both a "bin" and an "obj" folder that both contain several hundred megabytes of data that does not need to be sync'ed. When I stop debugging and change the code to run it again, now I have 2 copies of nearly identical data still being pushed up to the cloud and being downloaded by my other devices.
Is there any way that I can select Project1 to be sync'ed to the cloud and my PCs but exclude certain folders like 'bin' and 'obj' that do NOT need to be sync'ed?
I realize that I can turn Box off on my PC while I am developing, but then I often forget to turn it back on for a week or so, which defeats the purpose of having my data sync'ed.
Your syncing is taking up all of my bandwidth.

Warn users of upcoming web session expiration.
It can be confusing to users that Box does not bring you back to your login page on session expiration, only after you try to complete an action. Suggest adding a notification to warn users they will be logged out in XX minutes due to inactivity. Alternatively, notify users they are logged out before they try to complete an action.

allow Box Drive to be installed on only one profile of a computer, not all by default
I have Box Drive installed on my profile of my laptop, which causes issues when my partner logs into his profile - Box Drive tries to open and then hangs, causing delay for him to log on every time. I stopped it from opening on start-up but this change was applied to both profiles, meaning it is now slower for me to get into Drive on my profile.
I have reported this to Box Support and was told this was the default for Box Drive, that it runs on start up for all profiles and the only way to disable this is to go into the registry.
Please look into this and get a fix. Not all family members may want or need a Box account, so it is crazy to assume that it is needed on all profiles.I have Box Drive installed on my profile of my laptop, which causes issues when my partner logs into his profile - Box Drive tries to open and then hangs, causing delay for him to log on every time. Add additional search filters to Admin Console
There are wide variety of search filters available to end users when searching their Box content. Box Admins, however, do not have the same search filtering options through the Search Content section on Admin Console. Specifically, it would be hugely beneficial to be able to select the user(s) content you want to search via the Admin Console content search and to be able to apply content filters such as date range to the search results. This is essential functionality for e-discovery and for searches related to new GDPR requirements.
