Glad to see this is on the roadmap finally. External groups would really help with managing access and making it easier to remove external collaborators. Ideally our users would be able to create their own groups or at least allow Admins to create the groups and assign a user to be a group admin without giving them any other co-admin privileges.

Side note: in a closed file structure (i.e., non-admins aren't allowed to create root folders), giving a user any co-admin privileges at all would bypass this so they would be able to create top-level folders. So if you are thinking of making external group management as a co-admin function, please keep this in mind. I wouldn't want them to be actual "co-admins" which would bypass that root folder setting. The ability to create groups for external collaborators or the ability to commingle managed/external users would be a huge time saver, alleviate manual processes and reduce errors.

Not being able to create groups with external collaborators has been a huge thorn in my side. It would save so much time and effort while eliminating human error.
This should really be a priority.

This feature will differentiate Box from all competitors.

Adding this feature would alleviate manual work (open to mistake) of adding 10-15 individual external collaborators each time we share an item with board members and other advisory members. In many cases we can't add them as managed users since they are part of another organization using Box along with the need to have our SSO setup for them which is cumbersome for external partners.

This is a functionality I'm asked probably once or twice a quarter by prospects and existing customers. Just last week I've had a global prospect ask for this type of user management. Please put this back on the roadmap . With over 180 votes, it would be great to know if this is something we can expect in the near future.

Alright, Box -- this was placed on the roadmap in 2019. You targeted an update toward the end of 2019. It's now late Q2 2021. What's the status?

'External User Expiration Date management via admin console' has been merged into this idea. We would like to add a feature wherein we can set expiration for the external collaborator access to our enterprise folder. Kindly provide any update on this.

We need the ability to create external user groups

Any update on ETA? "beginning to develop solutions" is quite vague.

We work very collaboratively with our clients and suppliers on projects. At the moment if we wish to assign groups for either of these, then we need to bring then into our Box and company SSO. This is not sustainable going forwards. We need to have the ability to group external users and to allow these groups to be the recipients of workflows. Please can this be pushed through as soon as possible.

A must-have to manage and control access of our external parties to Box folders

This will be a great feature to have.

Security groups can make very effective the grouping of the users who need to have access to all documents under a predefined topic (like e.g. VAT of Austria). It would be great if not just internal, but external users also could be group by topics (like auditors)
This could be a good improvement if we would not need to add them one by one to the folders.

A good portion of user base is contractors that we invite to our platforms, similar to the Box approach of using their corporate address. We may have multiple contractors or contract agencies that need to review the same material but with different levels of permission in and through the directory structure or even within their own agency.
