Additional Scopes
We have white labelled Box into a ServiceNow product.
The service account at the moment creates the structure for every case that is populated.
From a security perspective, we would like the service account to create content and maintain folder structures but not be able to delete or read content. The best we have at the moment is the Uploader Role which would then allow the creation of sub folders but it means that e have to:
- Create the base folder
- Assign a new owner to the folder
- Change the Service Account to an Uploader
- Create sub folders.
At this point the service account can no longer maintain the structure as it is not the owner anymore.

Copy API to allow copying files from a managed users account to the admin account of the caller
There is no API action to copy or download files that is invisible from the user who owns the content. When copying files, there is no way to copy the files from a users account to the admin account (so that the copy of these files can then be reviewed and downloaded by compliance teams without creating access stats on the original file).
An alternative was to directly download the files from the users account however there is no way to not create access stats when doing so.
I am therefore suggesting the download endpoint have an added input for not generating a download access stat on the file (when the call is done by an admin). Alternatively the ability to copy files from a users account back to the account of the admin.
Use case for this is in e-discovery cases if we do not have an adequate tool but need to audit user files.

Error message when trying to preview a password protected file is not clear.
When trying to preview a password protected file in Box, our users receive the message: "We are sorry, the server encountered an error while processing your documents, "which dos not really explain the nature of the problem (i.e., no explanation as to why it cannot be opened).
When trying to open with Excel Online, the error message is for them slightly better as it mentions that the file is encrypted and that they should follow-up with the author), yet does not explain how to open (with Box Edit via local app, or to download and later upload).
We would like to see a clearer message - I.e., both error messages should state the file is encrypted, to contact the author, and ideally explain that these files can only be viewed with applications on the user's device)

Develop uninstaller app for Mac users
The current process for uninstalling Box Drive on a Mac requires the user to manually remove a number of items through Terminal. This will be very intimidating to the majority of end users and will increase the need for support from Box.

Improve back button functionality after opening a file
If the Back button was functional then users could go back along their File Tree

Mobile Office Editor
Have editor access when a file is marked offline in Microsoft office.
Right now when you mark a file offline, you can only view it, link it, comment etc., the open is greyed out. We would like to have the option to edit the file like we were able to do via Syncplicity.

Open With: Disabling Office Online view for specific users
We only want to disable for some of our users and not impact our entire company.
If users use this option for documents created by content authoring application, they will not be able to properly edit these documents or view the correct content as the JavaScript API will not work at this time.

Support for managed user authentication by unique ID other than email address
Email address is not a reliable identifier in our world because it tends to change for the end user at certain times:
User decides to legally change their name (via marriage or other situation)
User is moved from one business unit to another (which prompts a change in their email domain suffix from person@busunit1.company.com to person@busunit2.company.com)
User goes on a leave of absence (in which case the email address is removed or temporarily disabled in their HR system)
When these changes happen (usually initiated from their HR system), it will percolate downstream to update their other applications. Their IdP manages user identities by a unique identifier called GUID along with the user's email address.
Because of the unreliability of email address they prefer to authenticate into their applications by the GUID instead.

View the filepath of a file/folder in the Enterprise Event stream.
Our Security team is interested in monitoring confidential files (Red CCI), and to do so we need to be able to track the filepath associated with actions taken on content.
