Option to disable thumbnail preview entirely or for certain file types
Thumbnail previews of text based documents are not useful. I had a user reach out about this. they would rather have the icon preview for docx/pdf since the thumbnail is too small to give any info.

Box Relay: Action to move file to a folder named after Metadata attribute value
Currently, you can have a trigger based on a Metadata condition. We would like to be able to have the outcome File Action to move the file to a folder that is named based on this Metadata value.
For example, if there is a Metadata template with an Attribute called "Organization" with a possible value of "HR", then you could have a workflow to trigger when the metadata template is applied and the workflow outcome would move the file to a folder titled "HR".

Currently, you can enable features like Mark for Offline and folder-level metadata cascading by adding a user to the setting on admin console. When a user is deleted, the deleted user is left listed in the setting. We would like the deleted user be automatically removed from the settings.

Show Metadata in Box Drive
Metadata is currently not visible in Box Drive. Is there a way to show/apply/change metadata without going to the web interface?

Create collections based on metadata.
Add the ability for users to be able to create collections based on metadata. This should speed up the process of adding files to collections and staying organized. It would be additionally helpful to be able to use multiple tags within a collect. For instance, If I wanted to add all contracts that are from 2012 then I might use two tags: "Contracts" and "2012".

Enhance feedback when a user unlocks a file locked by another user
There is no warning given if a user unlocks a file which has been locked by another user.
Currently we have users who are locking files, while they edit content in desktop Office apps, but other users are unlocking as they also have to make urgent changes. This is causing a conflict of edits and loss of changes.
If a user, other then the person that locked a file, unlocks a file then there should be a warning message displayed that asks for confirmation before the unlock is implemented.

Bring back pagination
Please bring back pagination! I work with thousands of files and continuous scrolling makes it much harder to search for the last file I was working on. Pagination allows me to view a certain number of files on a page which helps so much when working with thousands of files of data.

Where'd the rollover filenames on web go?
Am I crazy or did I used to be able to see the full file name when I rolled over and held the cursor over a file link? I no longer see tool tips of the whole filename.
Long filenames get truncated visually unless your web browser is wide enough to show them. The only way to see the full filename now is to click the rename pencil and view it there.
This is really inconvenient. Can we have our tooltip filenames back, please???

Retain modified_by field on GET calls on content for deleted users
Right now, when using the API to make GET calls on content, the 'modifiedby' field will be NULL if the user that made the modification is deleted. For reporting purposes, it would be ideal if this information is retained. The 'createdby' field is retained, so it seems strange that modified_by results in a NULL result

version tracking between multiple files
It often happens that multiple files relate to the same product and therefore need to have the same version tracking. In this case if a version is created by mistake (the version number is incremented on a file) this can offset the version tracking between all the files related to the same product. Some solutions include:
1 - Give more flexibility around version numbering (be able to do a hard reset of the version number - i.e. reset version number from number 30 to number 25 and delete all versions in-between)

preview adds no value just adds clicks, tabs, and frustration. Either a button to open in a preselected app or just an option to do it on a double click

Please remove the "/" after 'content' in the "File Upload" API URL from the official documentation. When triggered from Postman, the current API generates HTTP Error 400.

Folder Setting Limitations - Box Drive
We have folders for each office where they store their active and archived (old) jobs. These folders can can contain many hundreds of job folders (sub folders to the parent folder) representing hundreds of GB and even over TB in some cases of data. It is way too easy for users to simply check ‘mark for offline’ in Box drive or attempt to sync the folder in Box Sync.
