Retention policy should be able to remove folders in addition to files.
Currently the governance retention policy only delete files. We are using the integration with Oracle NetSuite and as such we have a folder that then gets a folder setup for each Case as we are sending and/or receiving data from customers via the Case we have with them. The policy is set to get data for 30 days. The files are getting removed, however, the folders still exist. This makes it challenging when you look from the Box web interface. It would be nice to have the ability to set folders to remove if they are empty.

Box for Office templates
We have company letterhead templates we are meant to use for all internal and external files. I would love the ability to open up a new/blank Document or Spreadsheet with those attributes already assigned (header/footer/formatting for headers, bullets, etc.).
This would also "force" users to use the letterhead for uniform documentation.
Thanks for your consideration!17 votes -
If I use Box Drive,my computer's local Recycle is not available ?
Whenever a file is deleted from my computer's local Box Drive, it doesn't go in the trash itself. I am not able to see the file in my computer's local trash, it has synched to Box Driver in the first place.

Easy way for co-owners to see the deletion operations of collaborators in a co-owned folder.
Currently, only the owner of the item and the user who deleted the item can see the deleted item from the Recycle Bin.
Users with co-owner rights will not be able to see/restore deleted items in folders that they co-own.
Co-owners are not authorised to output reports. In some cases, tenants who are managed by closed folders ask co-owners to manage the folders.
One of the key roles of the co-owners is likely to be to ensure that necessary items are not deleted by the collaborator.
We want an easy way for co-owners to see the deletion operations of collaborators in a co-owned folder. Please allows items deleted from a co-owned folder to appear in the co-owner's recycle bin.
This feature would be more useful if the administrator could switch it on and off from the admin console.
Currently, only the owner of the item and the user who deleted the item can see the deleted item from the Recycle Bin.

Nested folders
With the current collections capability, it looks like collections don’t have any organization within them. If you wanted to organize things into “folders” within your projects you’d have to title collections all at the top level with a naming that implied a hierarchy in order to map shared items into groupings one layer of organization down. Something like:
Collections:
Project1-folder1
Project1-folder2
Project1-folder3
Project2-folder1
…I would have preferred to build an arbitrary folder tree and place shared items into specific places in my folder hierarchy.
Obviously it would be more useful if this organization was available in Box Drive too.

Unable to see external items via API
Currently the API works differently than the UI. in the UI a user can see files/folders that were shared with them from an external (to the org) account, however, when trying to query for the visible items via the API these do not show.
In addition - if you try to get the details of specific items shared by an external user you get an error when using the API, which is unfortunate since this causes 2 classes of behavior that are inconsistent between the UI and the API.1 vote -
restrict by file type at folder level
Would like the ability to restrict File Types at the folder level, (with Waterfall rule would be ok, but ability to break waterfall would be a bonus).
Currently we use Quarantine Policies to restrict .msg files in Box, but does not allow us to make exceptions by folder. (eg. to allow certain departments this ability, but block from others).3 votes -
Support the SheetView when using Excel Online by Box Edit
When filtering an excel file on Box by Excel Online, the filter does reflect to the other users. We would like an option to have the independent filter between users. For Microsoft environment, the Sheet View is now generally available so we want the same functionality on Box as well.

Visible Folder Tree Setting
Problem: users often have files/folders shared with them by collaborators, and the titles of these folders can be the same - e.g. 3 folders all named "Photos." Without clicking into these folder, you don't have context as to who owns it/where it came from.
Request: Allow folder owners to decide if they will allow folder tree visibility on their collaborated folders. This would provide context without giving direct access to content they should've have access to.
e.g. They can add Folder Visible on an upstream folder and they would see the folder but no content until they get to the folder downstream where they have a permission that allows access to content.Problem: users often have files/folders shared with them by collaborators, and the titles of these folders can be the same - e.g. 3 folders all named "Photos." Have a personalized name for a shared file or folder
It would be great if we could apply a tag, or rename a file or folder to something private to the user rather than what the original owner named the file.
Today we can move those items into Collections to manage them with our own naming, but that doesn't resolve the issue of individual files or folders with ambiguous names. For example: I need to track certain files that a bunch of different teams are working on as part of "Company Project 1". I don't need to see everything the teams are doing, so they don't grant me access to their entire folder structure. Instead they just give me access to their "Project 1" folder.
So now, I have 27 different "Project 1" folders for each of the different teams, and there's no good way to know which one I'm looking for. I could create 27 different collections each with 1 folder... but that's cumbersome and not really helpful to sprawl.
What I'd much rather have would be a personal "Project 1" collection with 27 folders named for each of the teams. They don't need to see the folder names I use -- it would be a unique name/tag/view just for me.
Today I do this with a personal folder full of bookmarks... but the overall sprawl is still there behind the scenes (and especially when searching, the bookmarks do nothing to help.)

Add 'type' in column sidebar features.
Currently the features at the column sidebar only can sort by 'Name', 'Updated' and 'Size' only.
It would be nice if the column sidebar from box layout features can be add another item on it, Which is I'm looking for 'Type' of folder/file to be add.
This will make the layout neater and more organized because the colors of files and folders in the waeb app makes them cluttered which makes the layout seem not regulated efficiently, and it will also make it easier to search for files and folders especially in large quantities of files in one folder. Looking forward for box team to considerer upgrade this features to be more convenient and handy to all box users.Currently the features at the column sidebar only can sort by 'Name', 'Updated' and 'Size' only.

Would like the ability to set the Data Residency Zone via REST API and SDK
It would be very beneficial for my organization if we could get a handle to the Data Residency Zone via REST API and Java SDK. We are currently incorporating all the "Freemium" accounts that were created before we set the domains that weren't allowed to create as a free user. It would be nice to be able to set their data zone programmatically based on information we gather from our Active Directory as we incorporate them.

We want the ability to display a list of tags.
I'd like to see this kind of feature because it makes it easier to check tags by displaying them in a list.
