Limit the rights of users who can change classification labels.
■Background
We are currently using Box Shield to control the public scope of shared links.
Currently, co-owners would still be able to use the classification labels even if they are set to "Owners/co owners" in the below settings. We want to make sure that only the owner can set classification labels.
■Details
Classification labels can be configured with "Admin console>Classification".
When the Box administrator clicks on Settings, the following settings are available:
Classification settings
Only allow selected permission types to modify classifications on content.
See collaboration permission chart.

Searching Sub-Folders
We have a user that asked the eblow question. They are referring to Box Drive folders that have been marked for offline use, as well as those in the cloud:
"I would like to see improvements in the Box Search capability within Windows Explorer. You cannot execute a search across sub folders within your Box Drive folder structure, only within the currently viewed folder. If I know what folder a file was in I have eliminated 90% of the reasons I need to search. I get the same search limitations for Cloud based folders and folders saved offline to my desktop.
I understand a search for those saved to my desktop would certainly be easier to program as it could use the native Explorer search in the referenced local drive, but this also does not dig any deeper into the folder structure."

Bookmark File Creation Feature for Box Files: Shared, Editable, and Folder-Selectable
Ability to create a Bookmark file for file on Box quickly:
We'd like to get a feature like creating a shortcut on Windows,
- There is an option to create a bookmark on each file
- People can select folder where created bookmark file is located into
Unfortunately, collection cannot help us out since collection can only be seen by yourself and others cannot see someone's collection.

Microsoft Sheet View
I would like the sheet view that Microsoft recently released for excel online to be enabled. We share online files constantly and its extremely difficult to function when we cant filter without filtering for the entire group.

On PC's there are not many Colour Folder or File Options
Would love for a cross platform of identification of colour coding files and folders. On a Mac unless everything is operating from the same NAS we can see each other's marks. On a PC a lot of apps don't support colour coding for cloud based software which is grinding my gears.
I love that there is now commenting and various ways to communicate. Colour Coding would be a great addition if possible. I mainly use Box Sync/Drive though so this may be a lot more complicated but that would be SUPER APPRECIATED if there was such a feature

Add progress bar on permissions change operation status
When I make changes to permissions for a large, shared folder, it would be intuitive if a progress bar was displayed as to how long the permissions change will take in the background, rather than having to "wait in the blind" and keep guessing as to when the change will fully propagate to the entire folder structure. Shocked that this doesn't already exist and why permissions changes aren't immediate, for that matter.

Full text search malfunction
I can not do full text search on my folder. Does it take a little bit time to be ready to search? Or double bytes character is not supported?

bulk manage Shared Links
Provide a way for all shared links in an account to have their permission levels / access levels / expiry dates modified in bulk, rather than having to change each one individually which is extremely time consuming for large doc sets.

Search, File type dropdown UX
Under search, file type selection, the dropdown does not go away once I select/click a file or folder type. I feel like I have to click away from that dropdown to add any additional filters like that I want to search within the current folder. However, as soon as I click away from the dropdown, the search executes and shows results, without allowing for me to be able to specify that I only wanted to search within the current folder.

Add audit tracking for Folder Settings 'Restrict collaboration to within (company)'
The information in Folder Settings, specifically the 'Restrict collaboration to within (company)' setting information would be extremely helpful if it was tracked/audited.
For example, if a folder was supposed to be an ‘Internal’–only Folder, however that setting was Unchecked, people could in theory Invite external users to folders within it which would pose a security risk.
Thus seeing who modified this setting would be very helpful.

Allow the use of Linux devices as approved devices.
We had Linux based user using Box web console and as of the July update, they are no longer able to access Box. I would like to see Linx OS be added to the approved Operating Systems list in the Admin Console for enterprise settings.

Not have to manually focus box drive search
With Box Drive, it used to be that when I press ctrl-alt-shift-b, I'd get the box popup with the search field focused with the cursor at the end of the last search I did.
Something's changed that now the input field is no longer focused. Now I have to click on it to type.
It used to be that I had to shift-home, backspace and then I could type a new search.
Best case scenario is that the search field should already be focused with the text highlighted so that I can immediately type or press enter repeat the last search or right arrow to then append to the previous search text. Thanks!

The search tool could look up for specific words/sentences inside documents.
When we need to search for a specific word/sentence inside a document, the search tool does not show any results. It is only searching for the word/sentence on the title of the document.
It would be very helpful if it could search inside the documents and also bring it as a result.6 votes -
Custom app to pull Access Stats on files/folders without admin privileges
Goal: Obtain access statistics on files/folders via custom app with no admin privileges
We have an enterprise app that manages one of our Box folders - i.e. the app is owner of the folder while most collaborators are just editors and some co-owners. Moreover, we have the 'hidden collaborators' setting enabled, which means that only owner and co-owners can view 'Access stats' in the browser. For other collaborators (being Editors) to view access stats, we would then pull the stats via the Box API - e.g. using the events endpoint. With our enterprise Box instance, however, we do not have admin privileges and cannot get this. This means we cannot pull access statistics on the various files and folders via the events endpoint with our app.
It would be very nice if
A) Access statistics could be available for editors on a folder with 'hidden collaborator' setting enabled.. orB) The events endpoint is made available for apps with no admin-privileges.. or
C) An actual 'access stat' endpoint is made available (preferably with the python SDK)

About character limit of "description" of file property
Please increase the amount of text you can write in the "description" in the file properties.
I want to add a long description, but it is inconvenient because of the character limit.10 votes -

Add "Edit" permission to shared link options
We needs to share a link of many Word documents in Box with a large number of people, problem is we can't make it editable to the people who have the link. (only view and download or View only)
would be awesome to have this option !
