New / Folder Modal Window on Web App - Fields Lose Focus
I'm a creature of habit and don't like change, so there are plenty of grumblings I could make about the new UI.
That being said, there's one thing that absolutely gets my goat, and I'm told that this is "expected behavior" in the new web UI.
When I click the upper right "new" then "folder" and the "lightbox" modal window appears to add information about my new folder, the old UI would focus the cursor in the naming field allowing me to just start typing.
In the new UI, this window loses focus after a short load of some small asset (I can see the status bar updating for a flash), after which, the window loses focus. The old interface did not do this. I could simply click New then Folder, then start typing my folder name. Now, I must first click on the field to regain focus before typing my folder name.
I realize I'm complaining about one mouse click, but old habits die hard. I really hate the new UI because of this new hassle.
(First world problem rant over.)

Improve the UI so that the "Owner" is not displayed when changing the permissions of a sub-folder.
Improve the UI so that the "Owner" is not displayed when changing the permissions of a sub-folder.
In subfolders that have inherited access rights from the parent folder cannot change the owner to collaborators other than the co-owner.
However, after selecting the folder, select the collaborator shown on the right side of the screen and try to change the access permissions, will visible "Owner" in the menu. And if select "Owner" in the menu, nothing works, which is not a good UI as it can cause confusion when changing access rights.
If change the access permissions in the "Manage Collaborators" screen, the "Owner" is not displayed and cannot be selected for collaborators that cannot be changed to owner so, more convenient to the UI can be changed so that the "owner" is not displayed in collaborators that cannot be changed to the owner, such as the "Manage Collaborators" screen, even outside of the "Manage Collaborators" screen.Improve the UI so that the "Owner" is not displayed when changing the permissions of a sub-folder.

Make all "Get link" modals copy the link to the user's clipbaord
In the Box UI, often when you click on "Get link" it not only shows you the link in a modal, but also automatically copies it to your clipboard. This is really helpful, as it saves the user an extra step.
However, this doesn't happen always. Sometimes when you get the share a link modal it just presents you with the URL, but you then have to manually copy this to your clipboard. So, it would be great if you applied the "automatically-copy-to-clipboard" pattern across all "Get link" scenarios throughout the Box UI.

Provide a FUSE (Filesystem in userspace) handler for Box Linux and other *nix support
Linux, and other operating systems, have a mechanism for vendors to provide transparent filesystem access to esoteric file storage mechanisms in userspace, without the need to write a kernel module using "FUSE" (Filesystem in Userspace).
Box would only need to write a FUSE handler, and then that'd open up access to a lot of *nixes.

Ability to Favorite and Add to Collection Read-Only Box Notes
Currently if someone sends me a read-only link to a Box Note, I am not able to make it a favorite or add it to a collection. This makes it hard for me to keep track of those Box Notes if I want to go back to them at a later time. You should be able to save or organize Box Notes even if you have Read-Only access.

Create a Task to provide a notification
Create a Task to provide a notification to a user. For example if a document has been moved, this Task would create a notification to Bob that the file has been moved. He shouldn't have to do anything with this or approve or complete it, just be notified.
25 votesThank you for the feedback. We do not currently have plans to add a “no action required” task type to our Tasks feature. That said, please continue to add use cases here, as we may consider in a future planning cycle.

Sync alias/shortcut files on Box Drive
Box Drive currently does not support syncing alias files (I think these are called shortcuts on Windows machine), which is a basic file organization tool. Alternatively, expose the favorites from the box web app on box drive. At present, it's impossible to organize a list of your truly active files while working solely within Box Drive. Seems like making these file types available for syncing would be a simple solution to implement.
55 votesThank you for the suggestion. We currently do not have this planned on our roadmap. We will place this in our backlog as we continue evaluating ideas to improve Box Drive.
Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Add Relay Trigger action for Folder Metadata
Currently you can trigger on the metadata values for a file. Can we add the same trigger for a metadata change on a folder?
Situation: Parent folder metadata change should cause an action that affects all children. i.e. move the folder and all children to another location.

convert
Is there a way to convert the documents to pdf files in Box instead of downloading them and convert them manually to PDF file? If no, can you consider adding it to a setting where this option is available?

Fix slow and unstable sync behavior
We all use the Web app in my workplace to upload and edit MS Word files. Recently, sometimes uploaded files are not visible to a person on another terminal. They appear about 5 to 10 minutes late which is detrimental in our business which has strict broadcasting deadlines.
Yesterday my colleague uploaded her file several times but I could not see it in the folder at home. When it finally appeared it was Ver.11! But I had not seen any of the uploaded versions until that point.
Syncing also seems to be unstable in Box Drive. I completely gave it up after a few days as it was unreliable and uploaded /edited files were not syncing properly.

Device Trust documentation and error message should explicitly describe encryption requirements for external drives
The Device Trust message is misleading as it states “All internal disks must be encrypted” when it should state “All disks must be encrypted”. In addition, the language under Setting-Up-Device-Trust-Security-Requirements here https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044194993 states "Require all disks to be encrypted: Helps protect against data loss by requiring disk encryption software" but it only describes in detail internal disk encryption. It would be helpful if it stated here that all external disks must also be encrpyted.

Collaboration Auto Accept
Once the external user sends invites to a X company Box user, there is almost no controls on the shared folder by X company there is no “Accept/Reject” stage by default, X company Box user will automatically have the external shared folder or file in his Box space even without awareness. Make the default invitee permission configurable at the instance level.
