Classification Reporting - Add Details of Classification Changes to Usage Logs
Currently, when a file's Classification level is changed, a 'Metadata -> Edited Attributes' event is generated in Usage Logs. However, this event entry doesn't say WHAT changed (aka, it could be a Classification change, it could be any other metadata change - the admin can't tell).
REQUEST: Add information to the 'Details' column of Usage Logs (and the Excel export / API event stream) about what Classification attributes (aka tell the admin what the Classification WAS, and what it is NOW).

Easily identify folders owned by an individual user via Content Manager
I have a need to determine what folders are owned by a certain person and wanted to know the easiest way to get that information. When viewing under Content Manager I see all the folders the person has access to but cannot filter it for the one she owns. I also tried running the Folders and Files report but am getting an error.
For example, I need to look up all folders owned by one user in order to change them after a name change.

This is an interesting feature! However, it does not have enough demand in order to be prioritized.
We are happy to reconsider with additional feedback.

We currently do not have this planned on our roadmap, though we want to recognize that content sprawl is an issue and we are working to address it! Please keep the feedback & use cases coming to help us prioritize this in the future!

Show from when the lock has been applied.
Users want to know from when a lock has been applied to a file in order to determine if it is okay to force unlock a file, some users may set a lock for a long time and forget to unlock. The current UI only shows until when the Lock will be applied.
9 votesThanks for the suggestion. Please continue to post use cases and feedback, to help us prioritize for a future release.

Automatically Lock & Unlock when editing from Web App using Box Edit
CURRENT UX: User must remember to manually lock and unlock each file once done editing, which is a subpar experience for the user.
DESIRED UX: When using 'open with' via the webapp (Box Edit), the file is auto-locked (via a prompt), and when the user closes out of the file, it is automatically unlocked.
204 votesWe understand the request, but unfortunately this is not on the near-term roadmap. We are currently prioritizing automatically locking/unlocking files on Box Drive for Office files on Windows. We will revisit this feature in the future.

Indicators / Progress Bar for Large Folder Operations (Moves, Ownership Transfers, Delete, Copy)
When doing a move of a large folder or changing the owner of a large folder, users often receive a 'this may take some time' banner notification in the webapp, but that quickly disappears and the user is left wondering... "so...has it finished fully yet?"
REQUEST: Have more indicators (progress bar, e-mail updates, etc.) of progress in the operation, especially for folder moves/ownership transfers.
Example: In our mobile apps, we provide a 'job manager' that shows the user progress when they're performing various actions.
74 votesThis is not planned in the near future due to other higher priority initiatives.

Ability to cancel upload and download errors and clean up list when there are errors
When there are errors uploading or downloading files, I would like the ability to cancel the upload or download and clean up the error list. The only option now is currently to retry the update.

This is a great idea! Unfortunately we aren’t able to prioritize this ask at this time due to other competing priorities.

Restrict downloads from IE Browser
Right now, any user can from IE browser right-click and download an image/video, even when the shared link or collaboration level through which they are previewing is restricting downloads

Embed - Add Ability to Remove Header from Embed Widget
In the legacy UI embed widget, there was a parameter in the code to not show the header, which was a great option as we want a streamlined embed widget.
In the new UI embed widget, this option has been removed, meaning the header is ALWAYS shown, which can be a major UI distraction for various embed use cases.
REQUEST: Re-add the ability to remove/hide the header within the embed parameters.
23 votesThanks for the suggestion! This is an awesome idea, but due to competing priorities, this is feature request not currently on our immediate roadmap.

Templates - Restrict Templates to Specific Users/Groups and/or Folder Structures
Metadata templates are currently global across an entire EID. This does not scale well for large organizations with 50,000, 100,000 or more than 200,000 users.
This request is to add 'scope' parameters to Metadata Templates such that a specific template can be restricted to...
1. A specific set of users
2. A specific set of Groups
3. A specific Folder structure114 votesThis is on 2026 roadmap, and is under development.

Ability to retroactively change expiration date on externally collab'd shared links and collaborators
In summary, the limitation appears with both External Shared Links and External Collaboration outside the organization.
Setting an expiration is helpful going forward, but still leaves us in a difficult situation on how to handle folders using this functionalities currently.
