  1. Direct from link directly to desktop application

To open a file from a link that is currently a shared link or a link in the URL of a Box storage location, the following steps must be taken
    1.Click on the link
    2.Login to Box
    3.Display the preview
    4.Click "Open
    5.Launch the desktop application

Office files are often edited in the desktop application,
and launching Box ⇒ showing preview ⇒ launching the desktop application is a laborious process with many steps to open the file.

Please add a new feature so that after clicking on the share link and logging in, the screen allows the user to select…

  2. Unify Time Zone Handling for Expiration Dates of File Requests and Shared Links

Currently, Box handles expiration dates differently depending on the feature: Shared Links use PST/PDT as the standard, while File Requests rely on the local time zone of the device used to create the link. As a result, even when the same expiration date is set, the actual expiration timing can differ between the two types of links.

Having different time zone behaviors across Box features lacks consistency in implementation and is not intuitive for users. We kindly request that the time zone handling be unified across features.

    ファイルリクエストと共有リンクの有効期限におけるタイムゾーン仕様の統一を希望

    <本文>
    現在、Boxでは「共有リンク」はPST/PDT基準で有効期限が処理される一方、「ファイルリクエスト」はリンク作成時の端末のタイムゾーンに依存して処理されるため、同じ日付を設定してもリンクが無効になるタイミングが異なります。

    Box の機能間でタイムゾーンの動作が異なると、実装に一貫性がなくなり、ユーザーに混乱を原因となりますので、機能間でタイムゾーンの扱いを統一していただくようお願いいたします。

  3. I would like to request the implementation of a folder lock feature in the UI to prevent folder movement via drag-and-drop.

In BOX, when performing file and folder operations with an administrator account, unintended moves may occur due to drag-and-drop actions.

As a solution to this issue, I would like to request the implementation of a feature in the UI that allows folders to be locked at will, either through the folder's options or from the admin console.

For example, the folder's options could include the ability to lock/unlock individual folders, while the admin console could allow for bulk locking/unlocking of all folders or specific hierarchies.

It has been confirmed that folder locking functionality can be achieved with vendor-provided tools, so…

  4. Ability to create standard templates and images for Hubs use

Admins should have the ability to create a standard set of templates or images for Hubs use. This would help enforce a more standardized environment for an organization.

  5. Allow groups to change classification levels

We would like to see the option of a Box group to be able to change the classifications, along with the options we already have available.

This would allow us to create a group(s) that align with our written policies.

  6. Rejections on an approval task

I want everyone who was assigned an approval task to still be able to record their decision after someone rejects the document. Right now as soon as one person rejects, the approval box is grayed out for everyone remaining and the task notification for those people is removed. Even though box sends out an email as well, most of my team only relies on the box notification center out of convenience.

  8. Block users from placing content into File Explorer locations that they don't have rights to within Box

The current user experience can be confusing to the user, because they are able to place files into File Explorer even though they don’t have rights within Box to write to that location. Box Drive does issue notices that the files are not syncing to the server; however, this can still create an issue for novice users, since the files still exist within File Explorer and allow the user to make changes to the files locally. It would be preferred if Box Drive blocked the user from placing anything into that location within File Explorer.

  9. Select multiple trigger events in the BoxRelay workflow

I want to select multiple events as triggers in Box Relay workflows.
There is a request to build a workflow triggered by events when files are stored in a specific folder.
Events for when new files are stored in a folder include types such as "New Upload," "Move," and "Copy."
With the current specifications, only one event can be selected per workflow. To create such workflows, we need to be able to select multiple trigger events.

  10. Set admin thresholds for mass deletes or mass moves

We would like the ability for admins to set some limits on mass deletes or moves, possibly 2 levels, one that needs a two stage confirmation by the user when it is between X and Y and then sends an alert to the admins informing them of the action.

Then a second limit between Y and Z that informs the user that admin needs to approve and sends an approval request to the admins.

The alerts was something Dropbox did, but the approvals adds a new dimension to improve our ability to avoid unnecessary recovery.

  11. Box AI for Hubs - Address # of files in Hub

The Hub functionality works regardless of the number of files available to be viewed from the link(s) listed on the hub page. However, Box AI for Hubs has a restriction of 10,000 files that can be indexed, which includes files that may be nested under the link shown in the hub. Given this, it would be helpful if we could manually disable Box AI for Hubs on specific hubs that we know are indexed for over 10K files so that users do not get an error message on those hubs when they try to use Box AI. (Possibly hiding the…

  13. Upload data with binary

Allow to attach additional data points (metadata) while uploading the binary file to Box.

Currently we have to make separate API call to Box's metadata endpoint.
This would be very useful as could simplify our flows and reduce API calls.

  14. event stream api

Within the Event stream API, have the ability to filter events by folder ID in the “Get Enterprise Events” API call.

In addition, add missing data in Response certain event types such as:

    • Folder delete doesn't give file path
    • Copy gives item id of source but not name or link
    • Rename doesn't give source file path

  15. Using variables in Box Relay messages

When sending messages using the Box Relay feature, it would be more convenient if variables could be used within the message.
For example, if you use the name of the file that triggered the flow as a variable and send a message saying "Approval of the submitted file named <variable> has been completed," it will be clear which workflow has completed.

  16. Expand 1000 character prompt limit

The prompt limit of 1000 characters is way too small for anything but simple requests. Users are unable to feed in much additional data for comparison to the source document, greatly limiting the capability of the tool. Much better results are derived from loading the source document and any other required information into ChatGPT, with a larger and multimodal prompt.

  17. Use relay to move files to an archived folder based on a metadata date condition

We have a relay workflow that accepts a file via "File Request" (Trigger) and has a metadata values attached, we want the file to be moved to another folder (Archive) based on the expiration date on the incoming metadata template.
In a subsequent trigger we are unable to make the expiration date condition of the metadata "if older than a year" only a set date picked from the calendar. It would be great to have a custom condition based on the values accepted on the metadata templates.

  18. Cannot specify official apps in Shield's list

The Shield List allows third-party integration tools to be configured as integrations, but official apps such as Box Mobile App and Box Edit cannot be configured.
    This causes the following problems.
    - Mobile apps cannot be excluded from “suspicious session” detection. Since mobile apps are accessed via carrier lines, their IP addresses are different from those of PCs, and if they are accessed at the same time, they are detected as suspicious sessions.
    - Office co-editing cannot be added to the linked apps whitelist in the access policy. It is impossible to control “prohibit DL on BoxDrive, but allow Office…

  19. Addition of palm rejection function

[Reason for requesting implementation of the function]
When using Box Sign, fingers or hands can touch the screen and cause unintended lines to be drawn.
This can be prevented by being careful not to touch the screen, but since we sometimes ask customers to sign documents,
it would be very much appreciated if a palm rejection function was added.
