scan .bak files
For heaven's sake allow box to scan .bak files - it's practically the only reason I'm using box! What's the point of a cloud back up system that won't back up backup files!!

Group creation next or finished button
When creating groups, I need to click back on groups to create a new group. When just starting with Box I had to create over 50 new groups and it would have made the job easier having a pop-up or a button asking if I want to create an additional group, or am I finished.

Automate quarantining of infected files
While speaking with Box Premiere Support Team, it was stated that there is no current option/means to automatically place an infected file into quarantine. The file stays available and is up to the Content Owner/Site Admin to manually address the issue.
It would be nice to have a feature that automatically placed suspicious/infected files in a designated quarantine folder while it is being reviewed. This will eliminate the potential for someone to accidentally download the file and cause potential harm.

Report on who has Relay enabled
Ability to report on who has Relay enabled in an enterprise account. Via "Export users" would be nice, but not even Box's own reporting team can produce this data right now which is unfathomable.

Requesting the ability to upload a file for sharing but set a date/time for when the sharing will start.
In the entertainment business films and music can't be released until a specific date and time. The assets are ready in advance. I would like to create a folder for sharing with a start date and time for the sharing. This way I can invite people to a folder i want to share, but they can't access the content until the approved date and time. A time counter would be great so the person i am sharing with will know when the files will be released.

Visual rep of all folder paths
Reports: Provide a visual map of entire enterprise folder trees. An "org chart" of folders.
When I run a report to provide managers of their data and where it's stored, it's a 10000+ line Excel file that share a path for lines and lines. Can this data be translated into a visual chart? Would be much cleaner. Thanks.

Box Drive Should Show Files With Illegal Filenames or Characters
We need Box Drive to be able to point to the offending error in Windows Explorer or Finder. Click on the offending file, folder is opened and file is selected in Windows Explorer or Finder in order to fix.

Improve annotations for Box Previewer UI element
One of the main feature of our proof-of-concept utilizes Box’s concept of collaborations. We want to demonstrate beyond the capability of the basic file/folder sharing by utilizing the Box Previewer UI element and enabling the annotation feature. The annotation is such a great feature to enhance business and client relationship in the digital space. We implemented this feature however we found there are some challenges and we are hoping Box can help us find a solution to create a better experience.
We were able to activate the annotation but only within app users. Both our employee entities and customer entities are able to share and view these annotation. When it requires a non-app user to see these annotation (e.g. customer sharing an annotation with a managed-user created from Box.com) those annotation are not viewable by managed users and they cannot make further annotation to the same document. We are really hoping that the annotation feature in the previewer will come out of beta and be implemented in the public Box.com domain for all to use. This would complete the full user experience that we are hoping for.
The highlighter, pen and comment bubble is a great start in annotation tools, however, we think that these tools can evolve a bit more with some more choices. Having control on color, pen style and perhaps dropping larger “sticky” notes to help readers to see these annotation more vividly and the ability to have finer control on how users annotate would enhance the experience to digitally markup a document with ease. You can also see with only one choice in color, it conflicts with the stardard black colored text of the document.

Make Shared Folder Sorting Consistent Across Devices
Viewing a shared link on a mobile device ignores the sort preference that is established internally and only shows folders/files alphabetically.
I cannot think of a single example of how it would be beneficial to specifically alter the established folder/file sorting method to default to "Alphabetical" merely because the folder is being viewed on mobile.
Sort method should not be "device" dependent. Instead, it should be consistent across all platforms—especially given the fact that the shared-link folder/file list sort method cannot be chosen at the shared-user end.

Ability to set default permission on folder level
The customer would like to implement the feature “Default Collaborator Permissions” per folder.
We’re providing it only per tenant at the moment, so it affects to all folders/files in tenant if changed.
As a result, it probably not convenient such as the user changes collaborator permission from Viewer to Editor every time.
So, the customer wants an ability to set default permission per folder.7 votes -
Prioritize specific files for upload
Hi, as someone who has to uploads and shares a lot of large image files through box, each over 1gb, it would be nice to have a way to prioritize which files get uploaded first.

Requesting functionality to recognize an existing file name (upon upload of a new file) and option to override or save with a new name.
Issue: End users may have documents coming in via email / etc. about a deal or a client that have the same name. When saving to Box from email, if the file has the same name as an existing file it is currently saved as a new version of that file. In reality, the document may be completely different. On Windows file server, they are used to having a prompt warning them that a file already exists with that name, with an option to either save & override the file or change the file name. They'd like to have an alert with this option in Box as well.

Geographic activity report needs some serious geolocation / ISP attention
For organizations that actually care about their security, they probably find value in the reports Box can generate related to user activity, which includes the useful geographic activity report among others. I had high hopes the geographic activity report would make for a very easy way to screen out a ton of valid activity, leaving just things to investigate. Unfortunately there's several issues I've run into that make it difficult to impossible to easily screen out what is actually valid activity:
1) geolocation doesn't seem to be accurate when it comes to certain internet providers, including mobile, satellite, and airplane. For example, if flying on Southwest, activity is going to be reported as coming from Westlake Village, CA, because that's where the whois info for Row44 points. It is obviously impossible to determine a real location for Row44-based internet access, so it would be preferable for Box to identify this as actual "Airplane ISP" or something along those lines, a special category that does not have a geographic location, because then it would be easy to screen users who were known to be traveling on specific dates.
2) Unfortunately integration activity reports as coming from the service provider's IP space instead of the user who initiated the activity. This becomes a huge problem if you're using the Box to Microsoft Office 365 integration, because every single file your staff edit with an Office Online tool is going to create activity logged to a Microsoft IP, and in many cases, Azure-space, which can include both Microsoft corporate services as well as end user services. This means you really have little to no chance of determining if a given access was malicious from a compromised end user server in Microsoft land, or one of your real staff simply using Excel Online.
I assume there's some session tracking / data exchange allowing Box to determine the access is being authorized / performed by a legit user, from a specific IP; I'd prefer the activity be attributed to that user's IP, or at least have it as an option.
3) Some of the geolocation data seems to simply be wrong, while also not based on whois / IRR data, so I have no idea where it came from. This seems to be mostly associated with large internet providers, wireless, CenturyLink, Comcast, etc. That would suggest the source of the data is not particularly good. MaxMind seems to do a much better job at this; perhaps Box can consider using them to supply the data instead of whomever is supplying it currently.

Box Shield
Can we have more granular on the detection rules, e,g, down to user groups, or individual account level - allowing customers to set priorities as high for some user groups, but low for others. For some users, a customer may expect high levels of downloads/activity in Box and this may be in peaks and troughs - therefore potentially a lower priority, whereas with execs this activity should be treated as a higher priority and greater risk.
