LAN Sync
Feature similar to DB: LAN sync is a Dropbox feature that speeds syncing dramatically when the file exists on your Local Area Network (LAN).
What does that mean exactly? Well, when you add a file to your computer's Dropbox, the file is then synced with Dropbox servers. Dropbox will then initiate the syncing process as soon as it determines a change has been made to the file.
All linked computers and shared folders will then download any new version of the file. With LAN syncing, Dropbox will look for the new file on your Local Area Network first, bypassing the…

Allow External Collaborators to Apply Metadata Templates / Add Values
Currently, external collaborators in folders cannot apply metadata templates that originate in the folder owner's EID.
REQUEST: Allow external collaborators to take advantage of applying Metadata Templates to folders based on the owner of the folder.

Upload via Email: Add Option to Not Send the Confirmation Email to the Uploader
Currently, when someone sends an email (with an attachment) to an 'upload via email' email address, Box automatically sends that user an 'upload complete' confirmation email.
There are various scenarios where an admin does not want end users to receive this confirmation email -- whether the user should not know that Box is the tool being used or for other reasons.
REQUEST: Add a 'send confirmation email to uploaders' option that can be unchecked (but is enabled by default) within the Upload via Email setting on the Folder Settings page.

Add Templates to the 'New' Button
We often work with very templatized documents on Box.
REQUEST: Add the ability for admins or users to define or 'save' templates to their 'New' menu in Box.
1 voteUnfortunately, due to competing priorities, this is not currently on our roadmap.

Login flow: Confirmation window unnecessary
IBM believes that there are too many dialogs in the integration login flow. They've specifically identified that the "You were logged in successfully - Close" window after the "Part of IBM? --> Continue" window seems unnecessary.
1 voteThis is a limitation of login needing to happen in a separate window for the embed widget

Provide Shared Links Details report on a user / groups level
Instead of running it for the entire enterprise, we want it segmented by user or group
2 votesHappy to review. Can you provide more clarity on the use case/reason here? Are you hitting a scale issue, or is there some data you’d like added to the report?

Ability to Upload an Email in PDF format to Box
Box for Office: Add capability to upload PDF of a selected email to Box as a PDF (with options to also PDFs attachments appended to the email PDF).
Rationale: It is against policy to store MSG files, however, archiving of email content is a high volume activity for many teams. Our company uses an Outlook enabled NuancePDF add-in, but the process of exporting a PDF, then uploading to Box is tedious
5 votesCurrently we’re not looking to store email backups in Box. However, we are investigating the idea of attaching emails to specific documents that would give more context to the document/file.

Upload/Change User Avatars (Profile Pictures) from Managed Users Page in Admin Console
Currently user avatars (profile pictures) can only be added, removed, or changed from an individual user's account settings and these avatars are not editable whatsoever via the admin console. Meaning for an admin to add one on behalf of a user or to remove one, they must use instant log in (which not many co-admins have).
When clicking to edit a user from the Admin Console -> Managed Users page, options to manage the user's avatar should be presented (just like we have for editing their name, email, etc.).

This proposed enhancement to email notifications and to custom branding is a reasonable idea, but an area that we are unlikely to invest in this year.

This is available to set up in a custom environment. However, we do not plan to create an in-product solution to address this need.

Allow owners to permanently delete content even if it is in a folder that is under retention policy.
Allow owners to permanently delete content even if it is in a folder that is under retention policy.
Legal would like owners to have the ability to still purge content when necessary (without moving the content to a different folder).
0 votesWhile we have considered retention policies that do not block early deletion, this is not something we plan on pursuing right now.
The original purpose behind retention was to support highly regulated use cases. With more customers requested this “non-regulatory mode”, this may become prioritized later.

When the Allow Content to be Deleted by Users option is selected, allow admin to customize follow-up reminders
For a retention policy, the retention notification is sent to the owner 14 days prior to the expiration date. It looks like this is the only reminder the owner receives.
REQUEST: When the Allow Content to be Deleted by Users option is selected, all admin to customize follow-up reminders to the Owner/Co-Owners once the retention period has passed. This option does not auto-delete the content so reminders would help ensure that they review the file and delete if necessary.
1 voteThis is an interesting use case. We will re-consider this work if we find it has a large impact on a substantial amount of our users.

Expose A360 Viewer Integration Better (Preview & Context Menu)
There are 2 main issues with this UX:
1. It's buried in the More Options menu instead of being exposed at the top of the More Options menu, similar to the 'Open with' location for other files.
2. In Preview (or when using a Shared Link to a non-collaborator), the user is not shown any option to use the A360 Viewer (since the full context menu isn't in Preview), so they see a 'we cannot preview this file type' error message.REQUESTS:
1. Expose the A360 Viewer integration better in the More Options (context) menu
2. Expose the A360 Viewer…1 vote -

Policies: Add Ability to Apply Them Only to Selected Users/Groups
For some use cases, we would like to enable a Policy (Upload, Download, or Sharing) in Box, but have that Policy scoped to only apply to certain users/groups.
1 voteThank you for this note!
This is a feature we’ve considered in the past but do not plan to build in the short term. This may become a higher priority with more customer demand.

Add Content Classification as a 'Then take this action' Option for Sharing / Upload / Download Policies
Right now, the Upload, Sharing, and Download policies have various options in the 'Then take this action(s)' section of the Policy.
REQUEST: Add ability to use Content Classification as part of the 'Then take this action(s)' section.
1 voteWill need to understand the use case more, as now classification / metadata can be set at the folder level to cascade down.

Error Messaging - Update 'File Type Not Supported' Error Message to Be More Specific When the Error is Not Related to File Types
This is a request to update error messages for Box Edit to be more specific.
Currently, the red bar that says 'Box Edit does not support this file type' appears for a variety of reasons not limited to just errors due to file type incompatibility. Users could see that error message when trying to use Box Edit with a PowerPoint, Word, or any other supported file type.
This error also occurs when the Web App is having issues connecting to Box Edit on the actual computer and in other scenarios that are entirely unrelated to file types.
For this reason,…
