Box API for creating a File Request
For customers that require several Box File Requests to be created frequently and uniquely in business workflows, there needs to be a method to create them programmatically to properly scale the solution.

Improvement to display a pop-up message when a locked file is opened as read-only
When a locked file is opened in BoxDrive, there are some cases where the user does not realize that the file is read-only and updates the file.
We are aware that the pop-up message can be displayed by enabling the auto-lock option or the lock at prompt option, but this option is limited to Office files only.
We would like to improve the functionality so that all users and all files will have a pop-up message confirming that the file is locked and opened as read-only, even if this option is not enabled.(In Japanese)
1 vote -
Box Drive should copy by default on macOS
As described at https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407737091219-Using-Box-Drive-on-macOS-File-Provider-Extension-FPE-mode
a change when moving to newer Box Drive, or upgrading to Monterey, results in the serious change of drag and drop is now a move instead of a copy.
If a user ever accidentally drags a file to their local drive, it takes it out of Box, and trashes the original, it eliminates the previous object ID for the file, it trashes all prior versions of the file.
This simple mistake can break every link that a company may have for a particular object in documents, bookmarks, etc. Or, if the user doesn't realize they'd moved instead of copied, it can result in data loss along with the inaccessibility of the object for other Box users in the org. With the version history loss, a great amount of data loss can occur, along with lost auditing ability for tracking an undesirable/unapproved change to a file.

Add 'undo' function when updating Box Notes
It is good the file is automatically saved frequently. But the problem is once I delete something accidentally, I have to retype all of them again because I cannot undo what I have just done. It will be more convenient if there is such an "Undo" function like what they have in the office system. Thanks!

A snapshot of contents within a Box drive folder
Have you ever looked at a top-level Box folder and felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to dig through and drill down to every sub-folder just to know what the contents are?
Do you get discouraged at the thought of looking for a single file that could possibly exist way down the rabbit hole of Box folders and sub-folders?
Would you rather have the ability to glance at a snapshot of an entire Box folder and all the sub-folders and files that exist within it?
A simple yet effective solution is a "tree directory" view. This is a feature that doesn't exist yet, but with your vote, you could contribute towards making this feature come alive.
Here is a mockup of what a folder snapshot in tree directory format could look like:

Integrate BoxDrive with Windows Indexing
BoxDrive purposefully not integrated with Windows Indexing.

Copy file url
From a folder, it is easy to create a copy a shared link, as when I hover over the file name, a button appears to the right of the file name. It would be great to be able to copy the file's direct url that easy (as opposed to the 'shared' link)

Persistent cookies
Similar to Okta and Google Drive, we need the ability in Box to set use persistent cookie so the cookie doesn't expire when the browser is closed.
Google Drive allows this by default, and Okta lets us specify the policy for specific users:
( see usePersistentCookie according in https://developer.okta.com/docs/reference/api/policy/#signon-session-object)Workflow:
* launch browser, go to Okta, and log in (our IDP)
* open up the box link - everything works
* close the browser
* open the browser
* I'm still logged into Okta (since I have usePersistentCookie turned on)
* when I go to a Box link, I'm required to renter my credentialsReason why this is important: allows use Box in certain settings with custom apps.

View embedded widgets on mobile.
The embedded widget is currently not viewable from mobile.
When embedded widgets are supported on mobile devices, security will be ensured by using the videos in the tenant's Box instead of storing them on an external server or streaming service.

File Request Button instead of a Link
when we send emails, we have enclosed a box link so people can directly send their documents by uploading the link.. Is there a way we can show it as a button instead of a long link?

Allowing policy creation for longer than 50 years.
We've realized that retention policies have an upper limit of 50 years. If we want to apply a 90 year retention policy to documents based on their creation date we can not do that at the moment.
Though workarounds can be implemented such as applying indefinite policies or creating a policy tight to a date field set up into the future, those require extra effort at implementation level or changes at a future moment.
Could the upper limit be removed or increased please?

Box Relay - ability to share a folder to a group
In Box Relay it would be nice to be able to share a folder to a group and not only to users.
Entering all the members of the group one by one can be time consuming and over time the members of a group evolve, which means that the Box Relay settings have to be changed.11 votes -
Enable ability to auto-organize folders (e.g. by Name, Size, Date Updated), rather than manually doing so, similar to my desktop experience
Enable ability to auto-organize folders (e.g. by Name, Size, Date Updated), rather than manually doing so, similar to my desktop experience.
Today, if I create a new folder, it does not automatically fall into the organization structure that I've applied to my folders (e.g. alphabetically). I'd like this to be done automatically.

Option to replace new Recents Carousel with older slider view
I would like an option to replace new Recents Carousel with the former horizontal slider view when using a browser on a PC. On a wide screen the older view is a more efficient use of space.

Make metadata attributes required on templates
We need a way to make selected attributes required custom templates, so that when the templates are applied to Folders/Files the user can not save the metadata form bypassing the required metadata.

Ability to get list of annotations through an API
I would like to use API to get a list of annotations for a file.
I can use the API to get comments on a file, but not the annotations.
Could you please implement such an API?
For example, something like this.
(e.g.) [GET] https://api.box.com/2.0/files/:file_id/annotations/

Additional requirement to know in advance how long it will take to cascade metadata
I would like to improve the time to add the Box metadata instance to the folder. This section explains the background of the improvement request.
The following article from Box states that the time to complete adding a metadata instance to a folder varies depending on the size of the structure.
References:
https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044195873-Cascading-metadata-in-folders・Excerpt from the above article
What is the expected time from file upload to metadata cascade?Applying metadata via the cascade policy is not an immediate action, and may take some time depending on the size of the folder structure.
[Improvement Request Details]
When I actually use this feature, it can take an hour and a half, or five or six hours, to add a metadata instance to a folder. It is difficult to use it for business, so I would like you to improve it. For example, we would like Box to shorten the time to complete the setup or improve it so that the user can understand the time to complete the setup.Thank you for your consideration.
