For users who "Sign in with Google" to the Box Web App, it would also be helpful to have the option for Box Drive.

Freedom to move folders
Content sprawl is our #1 challenge. Please let us organize our folders. We don't want to interfere with the permissions, but I want to have an "Active Projects" folder and a "Project Archive" folder where I can drag and drop those relevant folders in.
109 votesMoving shared folders is not on the near-term roadmap. We understand the massive importance and we hope that a new product development to be released in 2020 will help address content sprawl.

Adobe integration editor permission
For the Adobe integration, when updating a document to a PDF format, the PDF should automatically save in the same location in which the document currently resides. This is only currently possible if the Owner/Co-Owner of the content/folder initiates the PDF creation. This should be extended to the Editor permission role.

Ability to disable the Acrobat Web option
As we must open many PDF files within Box throughout the day, the addition of Adobe Acrobat web and the requirement to "Open With..." and then select either the web or traditional option each time, significantly stunts workflow for our team. The ability to simply right click and open, defaulting to a preferred program (perhaps a "Don't ask me again" option?) would be very much preferred.

Relay: Folder picker, select folder in search
When choosing a folder when building a relay, there is a search box at the top. Often you will know the name of the folder you want to select, however, from the search results you can't put the dot in the folder name.
Instead you have to search for the folder that contains the folder you want, then find the destination folder by scrolling down the list so that you can put a dot in the select box.The ask is to make searching and then selecting the folder one smooth operation

In App PDF reader changes make the app frustrating to use
Recently the UI for the PDF reader changed. I use Box primarily to read review copies of comic books, which DC Comics only make available to view in the app. Until recently this worked fine on my iPad, displaying the full page as I flipped through. I even liked the page flip of the interface enough that I upload other review copies to read them in the app. About three weeks ago, something in the UI changed, and now it no longer displays the full page, and I have to scroll on each page to read the whole thing. In addition, on pages for which I have to rotate the device to read (double page spreads usually) an annoying "Activity" pop up sidebar shows up that I have to manually close to read the page. These changes make the app frustrating to use, and all the more so because I'm not given an option for the DC Review copies.

Bulk API support
It would be great if we have a bulk API option. I would like to pass in the list of entity ids(could be files, folders users etc) and get back the results. This will reduce the number of api calls we do to get all the information.
We try to manage client's storage accounts and the main problem is with rate limiting for a large clients.
Implementation can vary, either limit the response size or provide an ack id and developers can poll for the id and get the data back once the api is ready to spit out the data in form of CSV. This would greatly help us reduce the api calls

25 votesThank you for the suggestion. This is an interesting idea but not one we currently have on the roadmap. In the mean time, you can apply techniques such as caching (i.e. fetch what you need once for a session and keep it in local storage) to reduce round-trips, and the use the ?fields query string parameter to request only the minimal set of fields you need, which can reduce API response times.

File Upload Notification - Ability to set alerts to a specific managed user per folder
File Upload can be a game changer for our company - with 1 major exception. Notifications in box seem to be all or nothing. Its overwhelming. Most of our team have them all turned off.
We would like the ability to set a notification for file uploads - per folder - per user/s. Example: Folder named: Dr. Joe with 10 folders within it. One of the sub-folders is named "Uploads from Dr. Joe" A file request link is created and shared with the client for this sub-folder. Then, regardless of who owns the file, you can add certain managed user/s to receive alerts just for that folder, when files have been received.
Our issue is I created and own the folder, I share the link with the client. Myself, the sales person and accountant are waiting for uploads but there is not way to alert them on that specific folder. You could have a selection in each users notifications to turn on file request alerts. Then any file request alert activated by a file owner to that managed user would push to them with the sub-folder name: Uploads from Dr Joe - file received!
Right now I can't even find a report I can run for file requests uploads received. I can run a search and find the folders but then its a guessing game of which of our 300 clients uploaded files that day. Please team box - create an alert feature or at least a report to track all received files! Love file request, just need to be able to manage it otherwise our clients are having to do work to tell us they sent files or wonder why we didn't respond.

Single API call to delete user and transfer folders for that user
Before deleting a user from box system we can transfer the root folder from one user account to
another.
Once the root folder is transferred only then delete API must be triggered.
So in all, the delete operation will have to call two API one to transfer and another to delete. But as the transfer API call will return synchronously.
For users with a large number of files and folders, this means the call could take minutes or hours to return. So the delete operation will be in pending state until we receive the transfer API response.
Does box now have single API call to delete box user and also transfer the folder?
Lets consider the use-case below;
1. We are deleting box user - User1.
2. We have to trigger API call to transfer files for User1.
3. If the size of the files is too big we have to wait until the files are transferred or root folder gets empty for that user.
4. We have to wait till the time all files gets transferred or root folder gets empty.
5. Trigger API call to delete user once root folder is empty. Here we have to wait till the root folder gets empty which might hamper the performance if the file size is large.

Seamless Sign On - Box Drive
Like OneDrive, we want the ability for the box drive client to seamlessly sign into box without any user integration at login. This will benefit;
- VDI users
- Hot desk users
- Students (e.g. lab machines)
- First time logon for staff allocated devicesWe understand this won't work for everybody but we to SSO to box via Azure AD and all of our 7,500 managed devices are joined to both on-premises AD and Azure AD. In fact we're starting have a slow migration to pure Azure AD.
This has stopped any large scale rollout and we have seen an increased number of requests to enable OneDrive for users who need cloud storage. Our success is measured on user experience and the current box drive client is not helping!

When users delete folders, we want not only the folders but also the files within to be shown in Trash.
When users delete folders, we want not only the folders but also the files within to be shown in Trash. Here is the behavior we noticed: a. We enable "Restrict content creation" in Enterprise Settings. b. User who is not the owner of the folder deletes files. -> The files will be shown in Trash. c. The same user deletes the folder which the files above existed in. d. The files which were deleted in process "a" are no longer shown in trash, making users unable to restore them, unless they restore the folder itself. e. However, the files will be shown in Trash again if the folder is restored. I understand that this is a specification of Box which recovered files will be restored to the folder where they used to belong to, and that it is why files will not be shown when the folder itself is shown in Trash. However, we would like to have the files to be kept shown even when the folder is also shown in Trash.

API endpoint to return ALL objects (recursively) but simplified to create browser tree
I am using the jstree library in my application to create a full browser tree of a user's BOX resources. Please create an endpoint to return ALL objects (recursive) available to an authenticated user inside one root folder . These objects would only require the object ID, TYPE, NAME, VERSION and PARENT(parent-id as string instead of parent object). The jstree lib can take this data and create an entire file browsing tree and then users would call up more information when they click on an object. This would greatly reduce the number of API calls to your server and possibly reduce memory usage on your end. My application needs to create this full browser tree anyway to check the status of synced folders and this currently requires multiple consecutive API calls.

Add file/folder sort by some property (i.e. "creation", etc ) as these are contained in the file info
I know this has been raised before. the ability to sort by other criteria should be possible, as the File Properties, File Information already contains the metadata.
eg.
File Properties
Name
Description
Owner
Enterprise Owner

Please stop removing features and services for paying Personal Pro accounts; or give us the chance to upgrade without 3 users min
I have been paying for Personal Pro since 2014. Since then I have been paying the same amount every month, and have had features and services removed.
First was tracking file downloads/views. Then this week I lost the ability to make Custom URLs.
When I asked about my options, I was told that I could upgrade to a Business account; but for that I'd need a minimum of 3 users. I am a freelancer and work by myself. I have no need to pay for 3 users when it's just me.
I think it's completely unprofessional and unethical to not only take features away from my account (when I'm still paying the same amount) but also to not give me a reasonable option to upgrade my account to keep my features.
Please give us the option to upgrade without having to pay more; OR stop taking away the features we are paying for!!

I want to be able to have the thumbnail urls returned in the metadata search results.
When doing a metadata search, returning the thumbnail url (or the representation template url) with each entry in the results will make it so that multiple API calls to get the thumbnail url for each entry after the search is not required.
