    We want our documents live in Box and work on the content from within Basecamp.

  2. Expose EXIF Metadata in the Box Webapp when Media (Photo, etc.) is Uploaded via Box Mobile App

    Currently we do not expose media EXIF metadata (location info, camera type, etc.) for files uploaded to Box using the standard Box mobile apps (we do for media uploaded through Capture though).

    This request is to provide a similar experience like we've already implemented with Capture.

  3. Remove 'Get our app to view this on mobile' Text/Link in Emails for EMM-Enabled EIDs OR Allow Link Customization

    For customers that use Box for EMM (and have disabled the standard Box apps), the 'get our app to view this on mobile' link/text in the standard Box email notifications (like for @mentions, uploads, etc.) is confusing because users in that EID won't actually be able to log into the standard Box app that it links to.

    REQUEST:
    1. Either provide the option to remove this text from emails
    OR
    2. Allow customization of this text to change the link that it points to (so a customer can link to their software/app catalog where users download the Box for EMM…

    Hey there! Thanks for submitting this feedback, but due to competing priorities, we cannot put this ask on our roadmap at this time.

  4. Users with View Uploader permissions should have the ability to edit folders they create

    In this case, the viewer uploader is the owner of the sub folder they have created, but they cannot do anything to it once it is created.

    Can it be filed to be reviewed or modified? If a person can create a folder, surely they can rename it, move files into it. If Box does not want the viewer uploader to be able to rename a folder or move items into it, do not allow viewer uploader the ability to create a sub folder.

    Agreed that it is somewhat strange a viewer uploader can create a subfolder. I believe this was put in place, because creating a folder is somewhat like taking the upload action.

    Sometimes, when many files are uploaded, it is cleaner to upload them all in one place, and so that is why the Viewer Uploader is granted this permission.

    One particular odd consequence, is this person can now create a folder but not rename it (let’s say they made a typo).

    This is not oft-requested and impacts a small minority of users. We can look at fixing this in the future with additional customer demand.

    Thanks for the suggestion! Based on the current information provided, we don’t currently have a feature like this planned.

    We’d love to hear additional use case context from interested users, however, in why the need exists to have Viewer Uploaders be able to ‘delete’ without simply raising them to ‘Editor’ level. Any additional information would be very helpful.

  7. Outlook: Option for Attaching Actual File (Not the Shared Link)

    Allow user to attach actual file (not the shared link) when using the 'Attach from Box' button within Outlook (via Box for Office).

    Currently when a user uses the 'Attach from Box' button in Outlook, they're only able to add the file's shared link to the email. There are various scenarios where users (still) need to attach the actual file instead.

    This does not align with our product philosophy. Users can attach a shared link with download permissions.

    I would be interested to hear the use case for attaching files directly to the email.

  8. Ability for Partial Searches

    If the filename is Security Committee, searching ?Commit will find the file but searching omit will not.

    Maybe the keywordless search option that is coming up will solve this? Not sure. Thanks!

    Thanks for your suggestion! We will not be adding this functionality in the foreseeable future.

  9. Enable Web App to display the SHA-1 checksum for an object

    We work with multiple large files and would like to be able to view the SHA-1 checksum that is stored in Box from the Web App in order to validate file transfer integrity as necessary.

    This is a very acute use case that isn’t in line with what we’re currently investing in for Web App. We will re-evaluate with additional customer demand.

  10. Create new folder from Move/Copy Dialogue box

    We regularly need to move and copy content to different locations in Box. It would be very helpful to have a "New Folder" option within the move/copy dialogue Box. This would help mirror desktop functionality (and sync, which currently supports this feature).

  12. Allow users to adjust line spacing between items shown in list view

    In the new Box UI, some users are asking for the ability to adjust the spacing between items shown in list view (some users want to widen this while others want to cram things closer together)

    We do plan to offer an Accessibility Mode where users can set font to be larger and contrast to be higher, but we don’t plan to allow complete customization of spacing

  16. LAN Sync

    Feature similar to DB: LAN sync is a Dropbox feature that speeds syncing dramatically when the file exists on your Local Area Network (LAN).

    What does that mean exactly? Well, when you add a file to your computer's Dropbox, the file is then synced with Dropbox servers. Dropbox will then initiate the syncing process as soon as it determines a change has been made to the file.

    All linked computers and shared folders will then download any new version of the file. With LAN syncing, Dropbox will look for the new file on your Local Area Network first, bypassing the…

  17. Allow External Collaborators to Apply Metadata Templates / Add Values

    Currently, external collaborators in folders cannot apply metadata templates that originate in the folder owner's EID.

    REQUEST: Allow external collaborators to take advantage of applying Metadata Templates to folders based on the owner of the folder.

  18. Admin Messaging to all Users

    Currently, there is no way to send a mass message to all users in an enterprise. It will be great to be able to send a message about an upcoming maintenance or upcoming feature users can look forward to or certain changes that may be coming directly from Box.

    I needed to send a message to our users a few weeks ago when we needed to disable SSO in order to perform some maintenance with Recommend and I had no options. I used a Box group we add all our users to, but there is no HTML formatting so the…

    This suggestion is not under consideration for the current or future roadmap. We are currently focusing on making foundational updates to the Users & Groups page to make managing users easier at scale.

  19. Upload via Email: Add Option to Not Send the Confirmation Email to the Uploader

    Currently, when someone sends an email (with an attachment) to an 'upload via email' email address, Box automatically sends that user an 'upload complete' confirmation email.

    There are various scenarios where an admin does not want end users to receive this confirmation email -- whether the user should not know that Box is the tool being used or for other reasons.

    REQUEST: Add a 'send confirmation email to uploaders' option that can be unchecked (but is enabled by default) within the Upload via Email setting on the Folder Settings page.
