Limit file naming to match Windows and iOS Requirements
Box allows special characters in file names that Windows and iOS do not. This causes an issue when we sync files between Box and our network server: Box will accept special characters when naming or renaming a file on the Box side - but when that syncs back to our servers - the file name contains bad characters that windows doesn't recognize - so the file doesn't sync.
Please limit your file naming to disallow the same special characters as Windows and iOS.

Manual start trigger in a box app
I want to be able to select a set of records or files in a view and manually start a workflow on them from within a Box app. Right now, manual start is not available in Box apps.

Provide watch list for anomalous downloads
I would like shield to have a watch list of people they know are going to leave the company within the next 30 days. I want to be able to tell if someone on that list starts downloading a large number of files during that 30-day window so they can immediately cut off their access.

I want a feature that hides the toolbar displayed at the bottom of the PDF or image preview screen
When you move the mouse pointer off-screen, the toolbar disappears, but it can sometimes get in the way when explaining materials with the pointer, which is inconvenient. I would like a feature to hide the toolbar or move it.

Signer Verification in Box Automate
Request to have a configurable option in an automate workflow to require a pre-defined signer verification method when sending a signature request from automate. Ex: Form is submitted, document is generated, document is sent for signature and user is required to sign with CAC/PIV card, use 2FA, etc.

Loop through folders in a folder, and other lists of IDs/strings in a Box Automate workflow
hi team. any thoughts on when we'll be able to loop through folders?
(the ability to loop over files in a folder is good, and would be even better if we could have that within a loop that loops over folders)
some use cases:
customers wanting to process files (i.e. move, rename, MDE) in folder trees, involving multiple levels of folders in the tree, and some but not all folders should be included excluded
customers wanting to bulk process folders - e.g. loop through folders in folders in folders, and then move/delete empty folders

Generate Shareable Links for Box Agent with Specific Content Specified
We would like to request a feature for Box Agent that allows users to generate a shareable link with specific content specified.
By creating a shareable link with the content that serves as the premise for the prompt specified in advance, the link creator would be able to create a chatbot based on the intended knowledge.

Delete button too close to Download button when multiple files are selected for download.
The Delete button too close to Download button when multiple files are selected for download. Moving the Delete button to between the Tags & Move / Copy buttons would prevent arrent clicks on the wrong button.

Allow Azure SSO with Passkey on mobile app without losing device trust.
We are moving to Passkey Authentication using Azure AD and it is shame that I can't use passkey to login to box mobile app. The workaround provided by Box support is to turn of device trust which is not workable for us because that will increase our internal threat exposure.
We only allow access from managed devices. can you please enable support for Passkey authentication without disabling device trust for mobile app. Given that Passkey is the future I am assuming it's not just us that will have this problem.

Delete developer app authorization in the Admin Console
It would be helpful to add the ability to delete (server) App Authorization without being required to contact support. Currently when in the Admin Console > Integrations > Platform Apps Manager > View > Delete App, it will pull up a message requiring Box Support to be contacted to remove the App Authorization. It would be nice to be able to do this without all the extra steps.

Create More Filters for User Details Reporting
I am looking to have a User Details report automatically filter out platform users from managed users. Additionally, I'd like to see some other configurations of user outputs:
All Users (managed, unmanaged, external, and platform users)
Managed Users (managed users ONLY [without platform users])
Platform Users (only platform users)
Unmanaged Users (unmanaged users)
External Users (external users)
Managed and Unmanaged (managed [not platform] and unmanaged users)

Hover over file name
I see that a hover option to view whole file names was offered in 2022. This used to work fine for me but recently stopped. I can no longer hover to see whole file names and have to go back to opening the doc to view full names. Am I the only one having this problem or did it stop for everyone?

Please add feature to show size of a folder not just number of files.

on copy/move, include filepath display
When moving/copying a file, it would be very helpful to show the filepath of a potential destination folder, IN the search window.
Our folder structure includes folders with similar names, or parts of a name or phrase. Without being able to see the filepath, we're more likely to choose the wrong one. Then the only way to go back is either navigate through the folder tree (too many clicks) or start the entire process over (repeats the search).
Additionally, move/copy search brings back results for individual files which are understandably unselectable. The problem is, there are often additional folder options…

reassign tasks
The ability to reassign an approval task on a document that is assigned to me as well as be able to reassign the task as the person creating the task. Our approval flows are very dynamic and when people are OOO or busy they often need to reassign to someone else to not hold up our processes.

Split-View Markdown Editor (Edit + Preview Side-by-Side)
I would like to request a split-view editing experience for Markdown files (.md) in Box Web. Currently, users must toggle between the editor and the HTML preview separately, which makes it difficult to verify formatting while writing. The requested feature would display the Markdown editor and the rendered preview side-by-side simultaneously — similar to the experience being introduced in OneDrive/SharePoint (rolling out April 2026).
Why this is important:
Markdown is increasingly used for technical documentation, internal wikis, and README files stored in Box. The current toggle-based experience creates friction, especially for users who frequently write or review Markdown content directly…2 votes -

Support for shared links in MCP
Add a shared link resolution tool to the Box MCP server that accepts a Box shared link URL and returns the corresponding file or folder ID and metadata. Shared links are the primary way our users share content in Box, and without this capability, an agent cannot act on a shared link that a user provides directly. Users share links with colleagues as a natural part of their workflow; they should be able to share them with an AI agent the same way.
