Allow Web-Sorting by Author’s Last Date Modified
Ours are legal documents and their Last Date Modified (by us, or by an author. NOT the date uploaded to Box) is a critical date. Some dates are many years old, created long before being uploaded to Box.
It's used in locating a single file among thousands. Do you seriously propose that our collaborators open the Properties of each file (among many hundreds) to see the Properties of each so as to locate the one file they need? What a terrible waste of Users’ time.
The date we moved a paper file from one office desk or filing drawer (or MOVED a digital file in cloud storage) to another office desk or filing drawer (or cloud storage) is an utterly irrelevant date.
It's the Last Date Modified ("updated") by the author that matters. That date ("updated”) needs to be available to our Collaborators in web-access.
A simple web-configuration capability would be helpful. Allow any metadata to be the selected Sort column, please.
Absent such a capability, I’m not sure we can use Box at all

Box Tools: Change Cache location
Ability to customise the location of Box Tools folder
We would like to have the feature to customise the location of Box Tools folders such as logs and cache folder. We want to have those under drive of other volume letter instead of the default location under C drive. This is because the storage size of C drive can be limited.

Ability to send Shield alerts to a Pager Duty email address for email integration.
It looks like I'm only able to notify users who are Shield co-admins whenever an alert is created. I would like to send alerts to a Pager Duty email address for email integration.
I would like to avoid creating a separate user for the purposes forwarding emails to pager duty. I would also like to avoid creating a forwarding rule on my own inbox.
Is it possible to send Shield alert notifications directly to non-user email addresses? If not, is this something the Box team is working on or can consider implementing?

Move "Trash" UI button away from "Upload New Version"/"Download"
When a file is selected (but not being previewed), the updated placement and design of UI buttons make it easy to accidentally select "Trash" when I mean to select "Upload New Version" or "Download." Please move the "Trash" button to a location that would require more determined thought to select it. Alternately, "Trash" could be spelled out or an otherwise more unique UI button.
5 votesThanks for the feedback. Currently, we have a tooltip that shows “Trash” when hovering over the icon. We will keep monitoring to see if other users share the same confusion.

Box passwords user experience
Two issues I'd like to highlight that is significantly making the Box user experience for my users (and me) extremely frustrating.
1) Box Drive sign in experience
When my users try to sign into Box Drive and input incorrect passwords multiple times and keep trying, they get a captcha response requirement to continue trying. It's simply broken. It requires images to be selected but this process always gets stuck in an endless loop. I can confirm this from dealing with this on multiple systems running Box Drive and 100% of the time it got stuck in a loop. This captcha experience works reliably via the web gui.2) End-user password reset option is broken
When a user tries to reset their password (either via the web gui sign in screen, or via box.com/reset), they never get an email with the pasword reset link. When I send them the link via the admin console, it works. Please fix this as it's wasting my time. Two issues I'd like to highlight that is significantly making the Box user experience for my users (and me) extremely frustrating.

Instagram Feed Planning
Hello!
Im trying to plan my instagram feed and considering some apps to do this. My problem is that I cannot access my photos in Box from these apps.
For ex-. I can't upload pics stored in my Box using PreviewApp or Planoly. In Planoly the option to upload from Box doesn't even show up. On PreviewApp the option shows up, but when I click, I only see a 'sand clock' with no option to proceed.Every app is linked to Dropbox. I think Box should make sure that apps link to Box the same way as with Dropbox.

We need Box enablement to all the App user to "see" the refreshes of documents periodically
We want app user functionality to crawl a given Box folder and refresh every 24 hrs so we always have the latest document ingested into Watson Discovery.

Moving shared folders should be simple and not involve changing ownership
Many people in my organization share folders with me. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ends up in my top-level directory. But some should be in one folder and some in another. I should be able to move any shared folder, even ones I am not a collaborator on, to ANY place in my directory structure without changing the physical storage space and without worrying about ownership. Why should the sharer have a right to clutter up my top-level directory with so many folders? It's pages and pages of stuff on the web interface. Since the real data is physically stored in a redundant, distributed file system, there is already a system that locates all the parts and copies of parts that exist to make this "folder" and all its "files." There is already a system that tracks and tags which accounts the folder has to "appear" in. It should be child's play to let that appearance be manipulated by the receiver without needing ownership. The sharer's experience and control of the data would not change if you let me put that folder in a subfolder called "Shared Items." They would literally not even know. I can't believe this is not a feature as of the moment you deployed.

enlargement of previewer movie over 100%
Though Box previewer has the full screen mode, further enlargement beyond the screen size cannot be realized.
Share screens of Zoom can be enlarged up to 300% by participant's manipulation. This function is convenient to selectively read a document written in small texts.
I wish the legibility when a recorded movie of Zoom is redistributed via the Box viewer.

Exclude users from Single Sign On
The Single Sign On feature is currently an "all or none" setting and it would be nice to have the option to exclude certain users from the SSO requirement when enabled.

automatically disable link expiry
I never want my shared links to expire. I wish there was a way for me to set a link expiry preference on my account since I have to follow this process for every boxnote.
- create a boxnote.
- navigate to the folder it is in.
- create shared link.
- go to link settings.
- disable link expiry.
I wish I could instead just create a box note, click share and be done with it knowing my link won't expire.

Box web UI does not clarify whether download capability is available for a shared folder
When logged into the web app on both Firefox and Safari for macOS, I see options to open a particular shared folder file (PDF format) by opening it in Adobe Acrobat.
However, I later receive the error message "There was a problem completing your request. Please try again".
I'd strongly suggest against such generic error messages. It is possible that the opening of the file in this way does not succeed due to folder permissions. Perhaps I am not granted access to this folder or file to do anything other than view the document inline. The thing is, I do not see any active and clarifying messaging to confirm this.
If there are cases in which I have preview and inline view only but where I am not intended to be provided the ability to download, I'd prefer to see a greyed out action item like "Download / Save As (not available with your current permissions - contact owner)". This is just one example of messaging that would clarify the details.
Also, I would suggest that a potential action of opening with Adobe Acrobat is confusing, because I don't know if the option comes with the prerequisite of having Acrobat and/or a browser extension installed, or whether that's just simply a synonym for the built-in ability of an operating system to handle PDF files, which is significantly more common.
However I'd say that biggest friction is that Box is exposing a flow for a user to choose an option and then it leads to failure and an uninformative error message. I uncovered this one small example but I wanted to suggest Box consider this as an experience of friction that may apply elsewhere in the product as well. And as such, this may stand to gain from am improvement.

Box Zendesk email links to ticket IDs redirect to generic page post authentication
Box Zendesk email links to ticket IDs redirect to generic page post authentication.
I receive an email from support at box ... (also referencing Zendesk in the email domain)
And within this email there is a link with label "this link".
Following the link in a session that begins free of any cookies and state (that is, a private browsing session), I am brought to a page to authenticate me - which is just fine.
However, post-authentication (or in the process), I'm brought to ageneric support page instead of the specific ticket ID. I'm brought to: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us
Also, on this very page, after I logged in, the message "Please sign in with a provider to continue" still appears.
Further, after I did log in, even after providing credentials and reaching the generic support page, I followed the link from the email and I am still not redirected to the ticket page.
