support the preview of other types of compressed files such as .7z, .TAR, and .XIP
It's very helpful that Box now supports previewing Zip Files as noted at https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044196713-Previewing-Zip-Files, and we would like to know if there are plans to support the preview of other types of compressed files such as .7z, .TAR, and .XIP?

Extend auto collaboration per folders only
Hi team,
Submitting this feature request in behalf of user, requesting to add their visibility to extend auto collaboration per specific folders only.
There's a similar post on this subject, but not exactly the same. We can set an expiration date for external collaborators at the enterprise level, which is essential to security, and should be set as the "default" setting at the enterprise level. However, there are certain circumstances where a folder would need to be shared long term with many people, and the Box owner account should have the ability to do one of two things, or both:
We know that each collaborator's time can be extended; manually, and individually. In our case, we have 130 external collaborators on one folder, and because they are our customer, we cannot disrupt the workflow, inconvenience them, and let their access expire. The folder owner will need to manually edit access 130 times, on 130 different collaborators, every 60 days to extend their access. That is an unnecessary amount of work, and we cannot compromise our security standards to never let access expire over the entire organization just to accommodate this one folder.
1.) The Box Owner account, and only the Box owner account, should be able to bypass the Enterprise level setting to customize specific folders. I see the answer on another post is that this need is rare, and adds unwarranted complexity to the system. But, this is not rare; it's a document sharing system, and that's its sole purpose. Even if this functionality were only able to be implemented at the root folder level, that would at least provide a workaround for these instances.
2.) If the expiration date can't be managed at the folder level, then we should be able to bulk-manage external collaborators on the folder level. I should be able to select all external collaborators on a folder, and extend their access in one action, instead of 130 individual actions. It's difficult enough to need to do this every 60 days, but also having to repeat this 130 times warrants moving to another system to accommodate our needs.”

Add granularity to shared link controls
Based on organizational requirements and the variance, there should be additional controls such as limiting the capability to create shared links (open Links) to Admins or designated personnel as an option. This would allow for greater granularity as some divisions within an organization may have a need to share publicly, while also securing sensitive information
23 votesFor now, we are focussed on solving bulk management issues with Shared Links.
Box Shield is an additional option for enforcing granular controls on content.

Support Macro creation in Google Sheets
Google Sheets outside of Box recently brought in the ability to create macros, would love to see this feature added to the version of Sheets in Box.

Archive folders
Ability to manually or automatically archive folders that have not been modified for a while. The Archived files are searchable, but don't appear in normal file system (similar to how Gmail's archived emails don't show up in Inbox, but can be searched)

File-level Collaboration Webhook
I'd like to create a file-level webhook so that I can take action when a file's collaboration(s) have changed, but unfortunately there is currently no webhook trigger for collaborations on a file. Please add support for COLLABORATION.* webhook triggers on file objects.
12 votesThanks for the suggestion! We don’t currently plan to add a Webhook event for file-level collaboration events, but if anything changes we will update this suggestion. If you have specific use cases to share, please add them as comments to this suggestion.

Dependent metadata fields
Allow for dependent metadata within a taxonomy so that selection of a value on one field can drive different options on the others e.g. set value, show/hide

Allow to freeze file and folders
Allow to freeze file and folders, which will not allow any collaborators including the owner to perform any changes to files and folders. Example: prevent creating new versions of the files, prevent moving content to trash, prevent change of metadata etc. Basically complete lock, which can only be unlocked at the end of a retention period. The purpose is to manage enterprise records. May be some sort of retention policy that lets us do the above. The current lock feature does not provide the level of freeze we are looking for.

install selective sync on mobile app
In the mobile app. for Box Sync, only sync the files I have marked to sync in Box.com. I have NO need to see all files in our entire organization and it is a waste of space on my phone,
the request is to have selective syncing like on a laptop.1 vote -
Allow http://127.0.0.1 as redirect_url in published box apps
It is currently disallowed to use redirect_urls of the form http://127.0.0.1 in published apps.
These give the error "insecureredirecturi".
These are allowed in unpublished apps.
Having a redirect to 127.0.0.1 is very useful for native apps which run on the users computer (eg rclone https://rclone.org ).
It is pretty much impossible to do https to 127.0.0.1 - you can't get a valid certificate for it. See this link for details: https://letsencrypt.org/docs/certificates-for-localhost/ - and also for reasons why using http://127.0.0.1 is treated as secure by browsers.
I'll describe how rclone, a native CLI app works. Rclone runs on the users computer - it runs a local webserver to get the auth details so the communications done over http are from the users browser to the users computer and never reach the LAN or Internet. Modern browsers treat http://127.0.0.1 as secure as the traffic never runs over the Internet or even the local network.
This is more secure than having to use an external https server which then redirects to http://127.0.0.1 as the credentials go straight to the CLI application and don't have to go over the Internet at all or travel through another server.
Note that almost all the other oauth providers that rclone supports allow http://127.0.0.1 redirect_urls, this includes Google Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Cloud Storage, Google Photos, Hubic, MailRu, pcloud, sharefile, Yandex (and more!)
So box is looking like the odd one out here!
Please implement this feature - thank you :-)

box drive metadata
With some of the new updates coming to Metadata, I'd like to request that Box Drive be able to support updates to Metadata on a folder/file.
As a start, a context menu option that would take a user directly to the metadata page.13 votesThanks for the feedback! This isn’t currently planned, but please keep the use cases coming to help us prioritize it.

Target users for EMM mobile clients
Currently if an organisation wishes to enable the Enterprise Mobility Management version of the mobile clients they have to enable it at a global level.
We would like to be granular with this. We're a University and I want to enforce all staff users to use the EMM client but not students (their uni data is not considered "sensitive").
Please can Box allow granular assigned of EMM users?
In our use case we have just under 3,600 user who require EMM but 17,000 users do not.
13 votesCurrently not planned, but in the meantime we recommend using separate EIDs as a workaround.

We would like to change the icons for Box Drive to appear different for a shortcut vs network drive.
We would like to change the icons for Box Drive to appear different for a shortcut vs network drive. We encountered an issue and confusion with Box Drive. One day, Box Drive didn't start up. We assumed that the shortcut icon on the desktop wasn't working properly. Therefore, we went to [C:\Users*UserAccount*] and found a shortcut icon which was exactly the same as the one on the desktop. We thought this icon was the shortcut to Box Drive, so we moved this shortcut icon to the desktop, and all of a sudden, the contents in Box were all moved to the desktop. We then realized, this was not a shortcut to Box Drive, but was the Network Drive. Due to this confusion, many items were deleted. We would like to request that Box change the icons of the shortcut and the Network Drive to be more different among each other, so that users won't get confused.

Support Drag & Drop from Box Web App to Outlook
Please enable the ability to drag and drop files FROM Box Web App TO Outlook email client (including the option to insert them as links OR to add them as normal attachments). Currently there is no native Drag and Drop functionality available between the Box Web App and Outlook. Therefore, the process to add file attachments/links to emails via the Web App or Outlook Plug-In is actually currently LESS efficient with BOX than without it. Since BOX Drive is not available for virtual clients (such as Terminal Server or Citrix), their only option is to use the Web App or Outlook Plug-In, but neither of those options is as seamless or efficient as Drag & Drop. In addition, the ability to choose whether or not to drag them in as links OR attachments is also important, since there are many workflows and outside companies who's automated email processing systems and workflows do not support embedded links, so the ability to send normal attachments to those companies using box is also important.

automated report options in box
It would be great in Box to be able to set up reports we need on a recurring basis to run ron a recurring basis as needed rather than having to manually run the same report each time we need. If this feature could be implemented, that would be wonderful.
