Filename searches are incredibly slow
Searches in the web interface are painfully slow, even when limited to file names and filtering on specific types of files. There is clearly a need to index the metadata.

I would like to be able to see which user account is currently logged in on the PC using Box Drive.
I would like to be able to check the currently logged-in user account on the PC where I am using Box Drive.
Please make it possible for users to check this information themselves.I want the administrator to be able to check which user account is using which PC.
This is necessary for proper user account management, so please consider this.

Box for Salesforce - Add Field Api Name Support to all UI Elements
Currently, the only UI Element that supports passing in the Field API Name is Content Preview. It would be very helpful to be able to add support for Content Explorer, Content Picker, Content Uploader

Integration with PageUp
We need an integration of Box (Specifically Box Sign) with HR software called "PageUp"

We would like to search by the entered email address from the selected user in the drop-down list.
Recently, a new feature has been added to the Admin Console, allowing users to filter by selecting 'External Users' and 'Unmanaged Users' from the drop-down list in the 'Users & Groups' tab. This is a fantastic improvement.
We would like to request the following three additional enhancements:
1) When 'External Users' is selected from the drop-down list, it should be possible to search by email address in the top search field, and the results should display only 'External Users'.
2) When 'Unmanaged Users' is selected from the drop-down list, it should be possible to search by email address in the top search field, and the results should display only 'Unmanaged Users'.
3) The search results should indicate whether they are for 'External Users' or 'Unmanaged Users'.

In-platform simple shared calendar feature has been requested for years. Kindly let us know if it is, in fact, off the table.
Users have been asking for this simple feature for years. Box has been ignoring this request for years.
I would like to see some accountability to users.
What is the protocol for communicating user requests up the chain?
Has this common, years-long user request been reviewed by box's leadership yet?
If not, please provide a date when it will be reviewed.
If so, please advise as to what the outcome of that discussion was. i.e., has the request been dismissed permanently? Will Box leadership please communicate this clearly to the user community?
What is the reason for failing to add this commonly requested feature? Please communicate the reason to us, the users.
Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Will BOX ever add a simple in-platform shared calendar feature or can we assume this is off the table?

I want to be able to distinguish between saved and non-saved reports on the "Report Status" screen.
Currently, it is not possible to determine whether a saved report is being output on the "Report Status" screen, so you will need to check the "Repeat Interval" on the "Edit Schedule" screen each time.
For example, if a saved report is being output, we would like to see the name of the saved report displayed in the "Memo" field on the "Report Status" screen.
2 votes -

Upgraded my laptop, lost hundreds of files, Box support claiming files never properly synced
Hi Box, I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed with your product. Your customer support team said I need to post the feedback here. I have been using Box Drive for the past four years and was using it to keep track of sensitive and important records and information related to my employer's financial statement audits. This included hundreds of workpapers and workbooks used to gather and compile information to send to our auditors for the company to pass our annual audit. I could view the files in Box Drive and in the online web browser, indicating that they had properly synced. I would copy and reuse these files each year. I got a new laptop and found that I couldn't access any of those files. I tried to look at my old laptop and the files are not there since my work turned off the access. I'm now having to try and recover the files from the old laptop, which Box support said never properly synced. This makes no sense to me. There was zero indication that files were not being properly synced. I feel that this is a huge misunderstanding on your part of what your customers need and I have lost all trust in your product and will be working on finding a replacement, such as Google Drive. Losing and missing files is absolutely unacceptable. I will never recommend your product and will discourage any other professionals from using your product.

Feature Request: Flexible Expiration Settings for Shared Links
I would like to submit a feature request for Box Plus.
Currently, we have set expiration dates for shared links in the management console for links that anyone with the link can access. Users are not allowed to extend or make these shared links permanent.
However, there is a demand from multiple departments to embed teaching links as QR codes so that on-site materials can be referenced locally, and also to permanently publish documents on Box publicly. Therefore, I would like to request some features that allow partial access.
For example:
Set exceptions for expiration dates only for specific folders.
Grant certain users the discretion to override expiration dates.

hubs thumbnails
When viewing an anonymous Hub, and the user is not authenticated, thumbnails of the files are not displayed, you only see an icon. It would be much more visually appealing if the thumbnails were shown for anonymous users.

set a password for a folder
Because Box's access rights are waterfall, access rights set at a higher level cannot be removed from lower levels.
Instead of removing access rights, I want to set a password for the folder to limit who can access it.1 vote -
Provide Box plugin for Microsoft 365 Copilot
Copilot plug-ins have the advantage that data can be handled in real time, and there are no limit to the number of items, etc.
In addition to the Graph Connector, the Box plug-in for Copilot integration is also required.

IP Whitelisting
Please find our use case below for your better understanding and let us know how Box can support our requirements.
We are working with multiple clients, and our primary focus is data handling, especially PII data. Currently, we have a centralized storage system (File Server) to store client data files and folders, which are accessible by both internal users and clients, based on the access permissions we provide.
We are now planning to create Box accounts for each client, store the data there, and grant access to files/folders for our internal users as external collaborators. In this setup, the Box console should only be accessible through whitelisted IP addresses for our internal users (external collaborators). Internal users should only be able to access client files/folders from their Box account when connected to our domain network.
After conducting a POC, we found that we cannot implement IP address whitelisting for external collaborators, nor can we control external collaborators' Box interfaces from the client Admin console. Many of the security policies are unavailable for external users.
Essentially, clients will share files with us, and our internal users will simply view, edit, and share the files without being able to download them. There is no need to integrate with any third-party applications.
Please review the above and let us know if this requirement is feasible with Box. Alternatively, if there are other options within Box that could support our needs, we would appreciate your guidance.

the ability to see only files and folders names which managed users were invited
Currently, co-administrators who have been granted permission to [view the user's content] can see which managed users have been invited to which folders and what content is within those folders. Additionally, they can preview the files.
Since the helpdesk operations are outsourced, we would like the external staff to be able to confirm only the folder names and file names from the Content Manager, without being able to view or edit the contents of the files.
Please enable the ability to grant co-administrators the permission to reference only the folder and file names, while restricting access to the contents inside.
