  1. Restrict Box Drive files from being viewable/accessible from Windows command prompt

Box Drive files can actually be viewed and manipulated (to some extent) from Windows command prompt. We are concerned about the potential for malicious command line scripts that could be .run to steal information from our Box tenant

  2. Would like ability for posting/hosting HTML pages via Box

Our creative teams often need to show campaign materials & mock-ups via HTML rendering online. Would like for this to be supported by Box via Edit or an Render button.

Globally - we have approx. 40-50 users working ~7 campaigns per week - so this would be a high use, high value use case.

Teams use Adobe Creative Cloud to create html banners / sites. To render them, a series of documents (with links requiring subfolders) need to be viewed on a browser. When sharing with internal users without Adobe licenses or with external parties/customers, the files are zipped with…

  4. 2 Factor authentication customizable at the user level

Allow admins to exempt individual users from 2 factor authentication similar to what we do for Device Pinning

  5. Add ability to trigger email confirmation when adding an email alias from blacklisted domain

Example: gmail.com is a blacklisted domain. If an admin tries to add a gmail.com alias for a managed user via the API, the call will fail with a 400 response.

This request is not on our short-term roadmap. We will update you if anything changes.

  6. Usage Logs - Include WebDAV Login Actions

We currently don't see WebDAV login activities in the Usage Report. We want to see the log for WebDAV failure logins for security reasons.

This is a resource-intensive request which is not on our short-term roadmap. We will update you if anything changes.

  7. Ability to highlight single column in box notes.

You can't currently highlight a single column in box notes, but you can highlight a single row. This would be helpful for formatting and organization.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate this request on a one-off basis. Thank you for your suggestion!

  8. Additional information on folder activity report for root folders

We have 150 plus sub-folders. Information we would like it to contain:

    Date / Time
    Date
    User's Name
    User's Email
    Action
    Item / Name
    Size
    Contained in Folder
    Change Details

It is technically challenging to run activity reports on all subfolders within a folder. We will not be prioritizing this work at this time.

  9. If a managed user triggers IP CAPTCHA, send an email notification to the enterprise's admin.

If a user triggers CAPTCHA on an IP address, it could potentially impact many users if our account is NATing our IPs to one external IP.

Typically this is caused by an end user saving a bad set of credentials into some kind of client (FTP or WebDAV) that is constantly trying to reconnect.

This request makes sense, but this is not something that is planned for the foreseeable future.

I will keep monitoring similar cases and prioritize once this becomes a high value request.

This is currently not on the roadmap as we have not heard this request from many other customers. We will consider it in the future if there is increased customer demand.

  13. Option to delete the folder alongside Permanently delete content policy

We auto-delete completed projects after 30 days and would like to automate this process with retention policies.

Currently, a Permanently delete content policy only deletes the content within a folder, however, we need the folder itself deleted because it contains the confidential name of the project.

    Thanks for your note!

This runs against our design philosophy of the Web App experience where everything can be achieved in the browser.

Thanks for the feedback! We have added this to our backlog. Due to low customer demand for these file types, they are currently not prioritized on the roadmap.

  16. Provide a Box Note Realtime API so we can create new Box Notes from our custom apps

Our users would like to be able to create a new Box Note from their own custom app menu bar.

This note would be saved in the folder from which they clicked the icon.

  18. Mobile Preview log

Currently, mobile app's Preview action of some type of documents is logged as "download." It doesn't show actual actions, so it should be logged as "Preview."

On Mobile, we use the download API call within the content SDK to grab the file for Preview purposes, which is why it is recorded as a download.

  19. LAN Sync

Feature similar to DB: LAN sync is a Dropbox feature that speeds syncing dramatically when the file exists on your Local Area Network (LAN).

What does that mean exactly? Well, when you add a file to your computer's Dropbox, the file is then synced with Dropbox servers. Dropbox will then initiate the syncing process as soon as it determines a change has been made to the file.

All linked computers and shared folders will then download any new version of the file. With LAN syncing, Dropbox will look for the new file on your Local Area Network first, bypassing the…

  20. Email Notifications to Be Sent to Users to Alert Them of Pending Shared Link Expiration

When an owner invites a collaborator to a shared folder that has a file set to expire, there could be a little box that gives the option to send a courtesy reminder email to the collaborator x amount of hours in advance (48 for example) so they know to check the folder if they haven't already.

Thank you for your submission. However, this does not have enough demand in order to be prioritized.

We will reconsider with additional use cases.
