1. Create Pages and collapsable sections within Box Notes

   Add a feature that allows multiple Pages and Sections within a single Box Note, similar to OneNote.

   Also add a feature that allows for a collapsible section within a single Box Note - for example to use for different topics at an event, or different days at a conference - instead of making a new Note for each topic/day.

3. Tags and comments in Box Drive

   Is there a way to see the tags in Box Drive? Right now I have to view box on the browser to see the tags for each file. Is there some option to view the tags in Box Drive without having to go to box.com each time?

4. Make sync actually work correctly and reliably

   Box seems to have abandoned any effort to improve sync. It has the same problems that it had 5? 6? 7? years ago. It takes forever to sync. It consumes huge amounts of CPU. It gets hung up all the time. A former associate who was friends with an employee of Box once (about 5 years ago) complained to the friend about the problems with sync. The employee's response: "use sync less." That appears to be Box's strategy: they don't fix the problems with the program; rather, their advice is use the program less. That's pathetic. Fix your software.

6. Box Drive Accidental Deletion

   Since the introduction of Box Drive end users that haven't read the documentation and skip through the walkthrough aren't used to seeing all of the files and folders.

   The user without realizing, then believes that all of these files and folders either aren't needed or are taking up physical space on their hard drive.  The user then either randomly deletes select files and folder or just deletes everything within Box Drive.  A solution is needed to either further alert or prevent this.  One other possible solution is to create a process to fully restore all of the deletions and collaborations.

   When this happens, it literally deletes all of the files and folders from Box.  For the user that made the deletion, it will also remove them as a collaborator from those files and folders the user didn't own.

   This causes a number of issues and use cases:

   1. The user realizes the mistake, stops the deletion and restores all of the data from the Trash via the Box UI. -Since the user was removed as a Collaborator, it is physically impossible to restore the shared folders and files because those physically sit in the Owner's Trash.  The Owner or an Admin has to manually restore the data.  -Depending on the timing if the restore is done versus the deletion, the user may or may not still be a collaborator on the Parent/Child folders, thus causing Orphaned Folders and Files during the restore.  In this case, all of the Orphaned Files and Folders will be restored to the user that is restoring the data without any of the previous Collaborators

   2.  The user creates a ticket with the Admin and the Admin manually restores the data; however, this can still have all of the same issues as #1 unless the data is all restored without breaking the Parent/Child relationships

   Current Admin recommended steps for resolution:
   1.  Run the Collaboration Report EVERY day
   2.  As soon as the issue is reported, run the User Activity Report for the user for the last 30 days (this will help when checking the unique ID's of deleted versus restored in Step #10), specifically selecting the "Moved to trash" (under File Management) and "Removed collaborator" (under collaboration)
   3.  Filter through the report to see what folders the user has been removed from as well as how many items were deleted and from where (specifically looking for the parent folders to not cause orphaning when restoring)
   4.  Based on that list, take the Collaboration report from #1 and filter it based off of the user that made the deletions email in column I named Collaborator Login.  This provides the list of folders and folder Owners that once the data is restored could still possibly have data in their trash
   5.  Login to the user's account or have the user that deleted the data, change the Files and Folders Per Page to 100 in Account Settings
   6.  Go to the Trash and select the "Items I Deleted Drop" down and either select the items to restore or select "Restore All" (this could restore files that truly should be deleted)
   7.  If there were no errors restoring, then run the Activity report again with the same settings from step #2 and also include "Restored from trash" (Under File Management), if there were errors skip to Step #11 otherwise go to step #8
   8.  Filter the report for "Trash" and take all of the Unique ID's for the "Affected ID" Column G and de-dupe that in a new sheet
   9.  Filter the report for "Undelete" and take all of the Unique ID's for the "Affected ID" Column G and de-dupe that in another new sheet
   10.  Compare those ID's, if they data sets are the same then all data has been restored.  Please note that if a "Restore all" was done on the trash this could include data deleted before that date and may have restore id  since the reports include 30 days
   11.  If the data sets don't match, then take the Collaboration report from #4 and as an Admin, log into each individual account and restore the deleted file from the Trash just like in #6 or reach out to the user's and have them do this (if files were orphaned, please check the root level for the user that restored the data)
   12.  To be 100%, the same activity report from #7 will need to be ran for every user that data was restored from but in this case only for the respective day and then compare the same way as step #10 with the existing ID's gathered in step #10
   13.  Finally, if still this doesn't line up log back into the account that deleted the data and check the root level for the possibly Orphaned files/folders

   This is the only way to be certain 100% everything has been restored

7. Relay/task push notification on Mobile app

   We are currently evaluating Relay so notifications on Mobile will be important for making Relay a viable solution (and will certainly make regular comments/tasks easier to access).

8. Add metadata to search results in web app

   Currently in the "search results" view in the web app, it is difficult to identify if an item is returned in the search result due to matching metadata. By adding matching metadata which triggered a "positive" search result to the list of search results, it will help guide the user to the correct search result. Without the matching metadata in the search results view, the metadata search query matching and filter functionality is not very useful, as users cannot tell the exact context that resulted in the search result matching. This results in users having to open all search results in new tabs, checking the item's metadata for a "good match", and then navigating back to the search results view to continue paginating through the search results.

9. Eliminate confirmation email for manually created or provisioned accounts

   We feel that the confirmation email step should not be utilized with accounts that are manually created in the portal or that are auto provisioned from AD. When we create a new account, there is a "delay" with the new email address being propagated and established in our third-party cloud-based email security system. This causes the new email to be added to the hard bounce list at Box due to the email address not being valid (yet). We understand the need for a confirmation email when it comes to an individual user signing up, but if an account is created by an administrator or auto provisioned though Azure, a confirmation email doesn't seem necessary. Removal of that step, or the ability to turn that off in the Enterprise Settings (for all domain accounts) would be helpful.

10. Make it easier to create a free account for external collaboration

    free users account creation is difficult so this lead to lower the usage of external collaboration. Hence, the users are using more shadow IT

    Thank you for your feedback! At this time, we cannot prioritize this feature request, however, we will keep this in mind for future iterations of our account creation experience.

11. 1. Search for specific file extensions. 2. Replace file extensions within box web

    1. We should be able to type in a specific file extension in the File Type.
       Ex. I'm trying to search for all .4tx files that we have, which are old 4sight Fax documents. These files are actually TIFF images, but we need to replace the extension on all of them so we can view them in our current environment, since we don't use that really old application. Box doesn't have a way to search specifically for those extensions so I have to search all file types and end up getting way more non relevant results.

    2. If we have a file that has an incorrect file extension, we should have a way to replace that. Right now you have to download the file, rename it on the computer and then choose upload new file version. Or use box drive, which doesn't allow use to do an easier search to find all the files affected by the problem.

12. Enhance and support the Box Embed Widget for mobile browsers.

    We outsource hosting and presenting documents to Box. We allow our users to upload documents in our app and we upload them to Box via API. Later on, when users want to view the file, we ask the Box API for an iframe URL and embed it in our app. So, in the end, no one is logged in to any box applications, because we use the API under the hood.

    Thank you for the submission. We are currently collecting use cases and feature requests for the Box Embed widget, and are considering it for update in a future planning cycle. We do not have a timeline for this at present, but ask you to continue to submit feedback here in the meantime.

13. Allow for creation of custom permission levels (roles).

    We want to share files to an external collaborator, but want to restrict the download and allow editing.

    Request: Add new custom roles and assign them preview, link, edit, and they would have to use our Office 365 to modify within Box?

14. Have Box Notes Accessed via Drive Open in Box Notes Desktop Application

    Right now, when a user opens a Box Note from Drive on their desktop, the note is opened in the webapp, rather than the Box Notes desktop app they have installed.

    A better flow would be to have those notes open in the Notes desktop app instead

    Add some kind of "open in Box Drive" option for a folder. Clicking this would cause Box Drive to open the appropriate folder locally.

18. Add Ability to 'Open with Office Online' via Box Drive

    Users are not currently able to edit/open files to Office Online (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Online) from Box Sync / Box Drive

    The key use case of this is to allow users to enter into co-authoring mode when starting in Box for Desktop.

    REQUEST: Add an 'open in Office Online' option in the right-click menu for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files when in the Box for Desktop file system.

20. Automated Email Notifications Based on Metadata Values

    Provide the ability to set automated email notifications based on values entered into folder/file metadata.

    For example, 'send a reminder email to X people X days prior to the date entered in the 'lease expiration' metadata field on a file.
