  1. Renaming and moving files/folders: include old and new names and locations in Enterprise Events call

If renaming or moving a file or folder, Usage Log reports include both the new and old names, and new and old locations. The old location and old name are missing from Enterprise Events via the Content API.

Thank you for this request! We do not plan on prioritizing this at the moment. We’ll continue to monitor demand.

Thank you for this feedback! This is not currently planned. We will reconsider this with additional demand.

  4. Change the default message in text Box when inviting new collaborator to a folder

Would like to be able to change the default text in this section to another default text. Currently, you can manually edit this section every time you add a new user to a folder. We want to be able to change what populates this section by default.

We are unlikely to build a setting to enable changes to this default. However, if there is a better default message that may work for all of our customers, we are happy to reconsider.

  5. Automatically Update Terms of Service

User would like the Terms of Service to automatically pop up for users any time the admin makes a change to the Terms of Services.

  6. Support with Basecamp Integration

We want our documents live in Box and work on the content from within Basecamp.

  7. Ability to report on what types of files users have

The ability to drill down at the user level to show what kinds of files a user has. E.g. 50% .docx, 10% jpg etc. without looking at the content itself.

Thank you for the suggestion! We are not reviewing this at the moment, but will consider with additional customer demand.

This is not something we plan to expose to Admins. We will continue to optimize search for end-users without the intervention from the admin team.

Thank you for your submission. However, this does not have enough demand in order to be prioritized.

We will reconsider with additional use cases.

  10. Users with View Uploader permissions should have the ability to edit folders they create

In this case, the viewer uploader is the owner of the sub folder they have created, but they cannot do anything to it once it is created.

Can it be filed to be reviewed or modified? If a person can create a folder, surely they can rename it, move files into it. If Box does not want the viewer uploader to be able to rename a folder or move items into it, do not allow viewer uploader the ability to create a sub folder.

Agreed that it is somewhat strange a viewer uploader can create a subfolder. I believe this was put in place, because creating a folder is somewhat like taking the upload action.

Sometimes, when many files are uploaded, it is cleaner to upload them all in one place, and so that is why the Viewer Uploader is granted this permission.

One particular odd consequence, is this person can now create a folder but not rename it (let’s say they made a typo).

This is not oft-requested and impacts a small minority of users. We can look at fixing this in the future with additional customer demand.

  11. Global setting to control "Items per page on All Files" for managed users

Want ability to update default items on All Files page to 100 for all managed users, and not make users do this individually.

This is not a setting we are likely to build. We hope the relatively new Files app enables users to more easily find this setting in their end user experience to change it themselves.

  12. Report on Sync Errors

Our admin would like to report on sync errors, e.g. user receiving error, date of error, type of machine - Windows vs. Mac, OS X 10.11.4 vs 10.11.6, etc.).

This will allow us to troubleshoot and hone in on issues that may be specific to certain environments, monitor trends in issues, recommend best practices

  13. Support for Differential or Bit-level Sync

We would like support for Sync to recognize differential changes made to a document and only sync the changes, instead of the entire document, especially for large documents.

  15. Make plugin available to SF Communities Licenses (not just standard licenses)

The current version requires a standard SF license, which means that, for the Grants Management System that we are developing, we will not be able to have grantees place documents in Box folders. We will have to either manually move them from SF or write some kind of custom automation.

  16. Add a way to find out whether a collaboration is external or internal for the GET collaboration endpoint.

When running a collaboration report as an admin you are able to find out Collaborator Type. The GET collaboration endpoint should be able to do the same.

  17. Usage stats per region of the world (Global stats)

We have global offices / teams dispersed globally. Admin teams currently have no way to monitor Box usage broken down by these teams (workaround suggestion is to create groups by office, but lots of admin overhead).

Suggestion is to use localization settings, IP address, or Box regional setting and categorize by country or region (Europe, APAC, LATAM, NATAM, etc.) to allow admins to report on usage stats by global region. (heat map of the world, etc.) Current reports with an additional column/filter.

  18. Ability to report on amount of content stored over time (more than week view) & ideally ability to break down by region (global).

We would like to see the evolution of their Box account, how much content we continue to add over time from when we initially deployed, and to break this down by our global teams.

  19. Upload policies catching too many false positives

137 files flagged so far today for Social Security Violation. Here is the warning information: File attached.

I am getting so many false positives that I would need a team to look at every single file that gets flagged. The scanning engine is terrible. Please escalate to your internal dev group so it can get fixed.

  20. Better rendering of Excel files in EMM

Word and PowerPoint are basically rendered as PDFs or PostScript files (rather than using iOS built-in quick rendering engine, which does not display formatting and charts well).

Excel files are still rendered using the iOS engine, which often leaves out crucial charts and doesn't reproduce frozen panes, which are needed to show large Excel files in a more manageable format.
