Default new collaborators to Viewer (or any level) rather than Editor.
If they want the Collaborator to be an Editor, the inviter needs to physically make that change from a dropdown when inviting.

Convert Email Attachment to Box Link when forwarding email
When a file (not in Box) is received by email, the user would like to forward it along as a Box link, rather than a file itself.
It is cumbersome to download the attachment, then upload it to Box, generate a link, and forward the email with the newly generated link.
Ideally, I would like a button in the email app (Outlook or Gmail) that allows me to forward email and convert attachment(s) to shared links.
3 votesThank you for the suggestion! We will monitor this request for additional demand. For now, it is not planned.

SSO Required to have exemptions for Admin(s)
This actually makes a lot of sense as we have it for Device Trust, but we would like SSO Required WHILST exempting an admin or two. If the IdP is down, no one can get in and this would create a catastrophic business impact.
17 votesThis is not currently prioritized. We will reconsider with additional use cases and demand.

SharePoint Online - Direct/Native Integration
Currently, the only way to 'integrate' Box with SharePoint in a standard way is to manually use an HTML web part in SharePoint to add a Box Embed widget to a SharePoint page.
This request is for an enhanced (and truly 'native') integration between SharePoint and Box such that:
- NATIVE WEB PART/UI: A user can easily 'add Box' to a SharePoint site/page
- AUTO-FOLDER CREATION: A Box folder tree can automatically be associated with a SharePoint site/page (instead of a Document Library in SharePoint), similar to the Salesforce integration
- PERMISSIONS: Automatic permission mapping such that the auto-created Box folder hierarchy 'inherits' the permissions that are already assigned to the SharePoint site: meaning if I have 'edit' access to the SharePoint page/site, I'll automatically get 'editor' access to the associated Box folder(s) - again, similar to the Salesforce integration
- SEARCH: Include the associated Box content from 2/3 above into the native SharePoint search index (similar to the Slack integration with Search)

Ability to lock sections of a Box Note
Currently, if a user has edit permissions on a Box Note, they can edit any part of it. We would like the ability to "lock" certain blocks of text and table headers in a note so that other users do not modify or delete these accidentally.
8 votesWe’ll keep this in mind! However, this is not currently planned.

This is an edge case request. We will reconsider if there is additional demand.

Because Watermarking is built as an enterprise-wide feature, we don’t currently plan to limit access to it to only certain users as this would be antithetical to how we do enterprise features as a whole in the product.
If we decide to add the ability to limit folder settings to certain levels of users, then I could see us changing watermarking to fit that pattern.

Notes Desktop App - Allow Multiple Windows
Users may want to have multiple Notes open at the same time. Request is to allow a user to 'double click' a note in the list on the left sidebar to open it in its own window (exactly the same UX that the native Mac Notes app already has).
1 voteThis is not a priority for the team at this time. We will reconsider with additional customer demand.

Ability to send multiple shared links and change the default access setting.
My company has default settings for shared links set to "people in your company". When users want to send multiple shared links to clients they aren't able to do this in bulk because the default is "people in your company" and they aren't able to change this.
Of course they can get the individual shared links and change the setting to share it, but it would be easier if they could select everything they need and send that one email.

Have Device Trust perform occasional background checks on Sync client
Have Device Trust perform occasional background checks on Sync client to ensure the device still passes, otherwise remotely logout the device.

Provide a Box Note Realtime API so we can create new Box Notes from our custom apps
Our users would like to be able to create a new Box Note from their own custom app menu bar.
This note would be saved in the folder from which they clicked the icon.
2 votesThank you for your note! This is not planned for the foreseeable future. We will re-evaluate this request with additional customer demand.

Require collaborators invited into the folder to enter a password in order to access the content
Extra verification step in collaboration with external users.

Add functionality to Box Sync to have it ignore hidden files without needing read permission on the file
Hidden files, such as files that start with a period "."

This is technical not feasible. Microsoft has not enabled the APIs that we need to leverage on mac.

Separate Move / Copy buttons
Please consider improving this within Amsterdam
There are a number of use cases that can be supported by separating the Move / Copy button into unique buttons:
1) Folder or file templates: Users with Viewer access (can download) should be able to COPY a file or folder elsewhere. Currently this is not supported -- the user must download, which loses BoxNotes and Bookmarks.
2) Separating "records" from reference material -- If Retention is set on a file, the user may want to copy a version elsewhere that is not subject to Retention
19 votesInteresting suggestion, but we won’t be focusing on this ask for the time being due to competing priorities.

Account Settings - Home Page: Allow Co-Admins to Make Admin Console Their Home Page
Within the new UI, a new user-level setting was added to Account Settings that allows users to choose their default Home Page in Box - All Files, Favorites, or Recents.
Additionally, Primary Admins can choose to have the Admin Console as their homepage. However, Co-Admins do not see this option.
REQUEST: Allow Co-Admins to also choose the Admin Console as their Home Page
