  1. Assign Relay attribute to service account or Box

As Admin, I created a Relay for a specific team with less exposure and familiarity with Box. When folders are created in this Relay, and files are renamed and moved into those folders, I am listed as the user who "last updated" these folders/files. But questions arise as these are sensitive documents and the real owners are surprised to see my name associated to them.

It would be great if I could attribute Relay actions to Box, or to a service account, so that it's clear that I personally haven't altered the documents, for audit purposes.

  2. Online Collaboration Breaks Functionality

If you accidentally open any file in online Microsoft office, you can no longer delete the file or open it locally because it will be forever stuck in "online collaboration mode". This is MADDENING behavior because the only apparent way to undo this is to copy the original file to another folder and delete the original folder with the original document that is now locked in document purgatory. Box should NEVER lose ownership of the file, even if its opened in online MS office.

  3. Retention policies should lift automatically even if disposition action is set to "none"

Retention policies should be lifted automatically at the end of the retention period. Currently, if the disposition action is set to "none" the folder will not be released from the policy even though the folder will be able to be deleted. This is very confusing and requires manual work on the admin's part to determine if the retention period is up on a folder and if it is able to be deleted.

    https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500007168782-Governance-Settings#:~:text=Select%20from%3A-,None,-to%20have%20nothing

Alternately, build retention as a trigger into Relay/Workflows as mentioned in a different idea so that the Relay can automatically take the folder out of retention when…

  5. Ability to Toggle AI Autofill on Folders via API

AI Autofill can only be enabled on folders through the Box UI. Having an API endpoint to enable AI Autofill at the folder level so it can be automated during folder provisioning would save a lot of time.

In our use case, a Salesforce Flow creates a Box folder structure, applies metadata templates, and configures cascade policies. Being able to toggle AI Autofill via API would allow the entire process to run end-to-end without manual steps and avoid maintaining custom AI Extract + metadata upload automation as a workaround.

  6. About the Behavior of the iOS Version of Box for Microsoft Teams

When attaching a file from Box to a chat in the iOS version of Microsoft Teams using “Upload file” and sending the message, I would like the sent message to display the attached file properly.

    Current behavior:

When performing the above operation, the sent message does not show the attached file. The sender receives an email notification indicating that the chat recipient has accepted collaboration on the file, but the recipient receives no notification. The file simply appears under “All files” for the recipient.
Meanwhile, on Box, the file is uploaded to the Microsoft Teams Chat Files folder and is…

  7. Box AI for Hubs - available to basic Enterprise users, not just Enterprise Pro

All Enterprise levels should receive Box AI for Hubs...it makes no sense to have to pay $20 more per user per month just to get AI in Hubs.

  8. Sort files by real number in filename

In the file view of the web app, files and folders should be sorted by real number, not alphabetically by first digit. In Windows and Mac a files will be listed like

    1.
    2.
    10.

On Box web files are listed incorrectly like

    1.
    10.
    2.

  9. Allow Forms driven dynamic destination folder in Relay Folder Action

In Box Relay, the Folder Create outcome requires selecting a fixed destination folder. While Forms data can be used for folder naming, it cannot be used to dynamically set the parent folder (for example, from a submitted Folder ID field).

Allow Relay to set “Where should the folder be created?” using a variable/token from trigger data (e.g., Box Forms field), including support for folder ID and optionally folder path.

This limitation forces teams to build custom middleware/services just to translate form input into folder creation logic. Native support would remove extra engineering overhead and enable fully no-code workflows for common…

  10. Notify Owners and Co-Owner on colaborators expiry

It seems that today only the colaborators are infomed prior to colaborator expiry. From my poinbt of view it would be important, that both Owners and Co-Owners receive the expiry information too. I our setup Box system users own all level 0 shared folders, so Co-Owners would be required to receive the notifications as well.

  11. Taxonomy Lists in Box Forms

We create many Box Forms with the same dropdown lists. In our case one is the list of the properties we own/manage.

Having the ability to duplicate forms would be very helpful, but for us it would be even more helpful to create a Taxonomy list for forms so that it would be easy to add the dropdown to a form. It would also allow the dropdowns to be consistent, accurate and easy to change on all forms at once.

    Thank you.

  12. Change the Box Tools implementation to Native Messaging Hosts

Due to changes in Chromium’s security policy, communication with localhost is no longer trusted.
At present, the only secure way to enable communication between the web and a local environment is through Native Messaging Hosts.

Using Native Messaging Hosts also eliminates the need for a constantly running background process, which helps reduce potential issues and improves stability.
For example, Dropbox adopted this approach several years ago.

We strongly recommend that Box also migrate Box Tools to Native Messaging Hosts.

  13. status

When deleting a file on the server, I would like to be able to see the status until the deletion is complete.
Also, when restoring a file from the Recycle Bin, I would like to be able to see the status until the restoration is complete. (ex. progress bar,,,)

  14. When viewed in Safari on an iPhone, the menu overlaps with the file name.

When viewed in Safari on an iPhone in portrait mode, the menu overlaps with the file name. In landscape mode, it is displayed correctly.
I’m sorry if this has already been mentioned. I can’t read English well, and this text is translated, so the wording may not be accurate.

  16. Box falsely claims a file is being edited

I need to rename a file. Box doesn't allow me to. Instead, it falsely claims the file is being edited. I have no open tabs anywhere where I am editing that file. Also, I know with certainty no one else is editing it right now.

The "idea" I have is: Box should behave and let me rename files. Gosh, some other vendors allow you to rename files while you're editing them. Unheard-of, I know. But a feature. Elsewhere.

  17. Shield alerting admins when users "download" from Box Drive

A customer is reporting difficulty using Box Shield’s Anomalous Download detection due to how downloads are currently defined when Box Drive is in use. Box Shield flags a “download” whenever a user expands or opens a folder in Box Drive. As a result, routine navigation actions are recorded as downloads, creating noise in the anomaly signals. The customer is asking whether anomalous download detection can be refined to trigger only on intentional file downloads (e.g., explicit download actions), rather than folder expansion or passive access via Box Drive.

  18. Box Sign Completed Document Retention/Archive

Requesting a feature for the Box administrator to natively retain a copy of all completed Box Sign documents in an environment. The Sign event Relay function partially meets this requirement, but this Relay workflow would need to be applied to the root Box folder.

Otherwise, a Governance or Retention policy that can accomplish this would be required. A third alternative may be to add a filter for Box Sign documents, similar to spreadsheets and PDFs, within the Content search feature. This would allow an administrator viewing all user content to filter out any documents not associated with a Box Sign…

  19. Box Web

Currently, when previewing a file in Box, navigating to another file often requires leaving the preview or opening a new view, which disrupts the user’s workflow. Introducing an in-browser preview experience similar to Outlook’s email preview would represent a significant usability improvement.

Specifically, this enhancement would allow users to:

Open a file in a preview pane within the same browser window.

Seamlessly navigate between files (e.g., next / previous) without closing the preview.

Preserve folder context and file list visibility while reviewing content.

Avoid losing navigation state or opening additional windows or tabs.

Beyond general document review, this functionality would…

  20. Prefer that it's not automatically set to "comment with time stamp" for video files

When commenting on a video file, the timestamp automatically comes on. It gets in the way. Our team don't use this feature. Can it be set to off? And when we decide to use the time stamp feature, we can toggle it on.

Sometimes we just need to comment back and forth without actually using the time stamp. Thanks!
