Feature that allows sending emails only to specific collaborator
We are inviting multiple users from different departments to specific folders.
In our operations, we wish to notify specific users within the department about a regulation revision. However, the current system only allows sending notifications to all collaborators, making it impossible to target only specific users.
We request the implementation of this feature to enhance convenience.
2 votes -
workflow
Hi, I was wondering if we could revert the workflow for sharing folders with other users. There was a recent UI/UX update that changed my Box such that when I share a folder with someone, it doesn't auto-populate my cursor in the "Invite People" field, and after typing the name of the person I'd like to share it with, pressing enter or tab does not select the person. The old Box used to highlight the first person that matched what you typed. Once the person is added, I also have to click "Send" manually instead of being able to press enter right away.
It was very smooth when I was able to click "share," immediately type the name of my desired collaborator, press enter or tab to immediately populate the field with that person's email address, and press enter again to select "Send." Now, I have to either click the "add names or email addresses" field directly or press tab before I'm able to begin typing. This is a small but noticeable change that has slowed down my workflow when sharing folders with collaborators each day.

File Request ID: Enhance File Request API Visibility, Documentation, and Reporting Capabilities
Summary:
Current limitations around File Requests create gaps for administration, automation, and reporting. There is no reliable way to retrieve a File Request ID from the UI or API, documentation is incomplete, and reporting capabilities are insufficient for enterprise use cases.Problem Details:
Missing File Request ID Access
The File Request ID is not exposed in the UI.
The API does not provide a clear or consistent way to retrieve the File Request ID for existing requests.
This blocks automation, integration workflows, and troubleshooting.
Incomplete API Documentation
The File Request API endpoints lack clear, end-to-end guidance.
Missing examples for common workflows such as:
Creating, retrieving, and managing File Requests at scale
Mapping File Request objects to folders and users
No clear explanation of how to reliably obtain identifiers needed for API operations.
Limited Reporting and Visibility
No native dashboard or reporting tool for File Requests.
No ability to export File Request data for audit or governance purposes.Requested Enhancements:
Expose File Request ID
Display File Request ID in the Admin Console and UI.
Ensure File Request ID is consistently returned across all relevant API endpoints.
Improve API Documentation
Provide complete, structured documentation with:
Clear endpoint mapping
Required vs optional fields
End-to-end examples for real-world use cases
Include guidance for bulk operations and enterprise-scale management.
File Request Dashboard and Export
Introduce a File Request dashboard in the Admin Console.
Add CSV export capability with the following fields:
File Request ID
Folder ID
Creator ID
Date Created
Status
Visibility
Folder Name
Folder Path
URL IDBusiness Impact:
Enables automation and integration with external systems
Improves governance, audit readiness, and compliance tracking
Reduces support overhead caused by lack of visibility and unclear documentation
Aligns File Requests with enterprise reporting standards already available for other Box featuresUse Case:
Enterprise admins need to track and manage hundreds of File Requests across departments. Without IDs, reporting, and clear API guidance, it is not possible to build reliable workflows, enforce governance, or perform audits efficiently.

Add repeatable sections to forms
Would be great to see repeatable sections in the forms.
So for example you have a set of fields related to some entity, and the user can add multiple entries of this entity by hitting to add additional sections with the same fields in it.

Share Box Forms with co-owners
Can you enable the ability to share a Box Form with another user as a co-owner or editor?
For example, if I create a Form, and then leave the company, a co-owner could still use it or make edits.

Issues with Filename Corruption and Large File Download Failures on Box
I am reaching out regarding two issues I am experiencing when using Box.
1. Filename corruption when downloading files on Windows
Files uploaded to Box from macOS are showing corrupted or unreadable filenames when I download them on a Windows PC. The file contents themselves are fine, but the filenames become garbled, making it difficult to identify or manage them.
This appears to be related to differences in filename encoding between macOS and Windows during the upload/download process.
2. Large files cannot be downloaded
Additionally, I am unable to download large files stored in Box.
When attempting to download files of significant size, the download either fails to start, freezes midway, or results in an error. I have confirmed that my network connection is stable and that there are no local storage issues on my device.
Could you please help investigate these problems or provide guidance on how to resolve them? I would appreciate any information regarding potential limitations, encoding behaviors, or recommended methods for handling large file downloads.

Searching for Folders and Moving files
Ever since the platform updated, it has become very difficult to move a file to a new folder by searching the folder name. I can search for the exact name of the folder and get a whole bunch of other files that aren't even close matches to the folder name. Before the changes we had no problem finding the correct folder.
I am primarily talking about our 30 INVOICES PAID folder. This folder probably contains several hundred folders for each of the vendors that we use, with additional folders for each year. If I want to move an invoice into one of the folders, it does not pop up in my search. If I go to the main folder, 30 INVOICES PAID, I can ony see the first 20 or so folders. I wait for the other folders to load and they never do. So essentially I cannot move the file to where it needs to go.

Shared Links Report Enhancement - Report from a specified folder and below
I would like a filter to be added to the Shared Links Report where you can specify a specific folder and the report will run with that folder as the top level and report on shared links for everything below that. This would run much faster than running the report for our entire tenant.
We have much of our data owned by a "Project Account" so it is not controlled by a specific employee. Because of this, running the report with this user as the owner using the existing filter option is much the same as running a tenant-wide report. It will take forever and contain way more information than we care to report on. When I want to report on a folder structure of a few hundred folders with a few thousand files, it doesn't make sense to run the report for this user who owns millions of files and folders.

Need more explanation for "Unknown IP" on User Activity Report
It would be helpful for the User Activity Report to show something like "Box internal IP" or "Legit IP" in the IP Address column when the IP falls into "Use Box’s internal IP address".
Customers sometimes want to know the reason of "Unknown IP" description for their User Activity Report events.
The article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4415012490387-User-Activity-Report says "Unknown IP" is shown when the IP address falls into "Spoof an IP address", "Use a VPN proxy", or "Use Box’s internal IP address" situations. If it falls into "Use Box’s internal IP address" situation, customers do not have to worry about it because it is a legit IP address.
If it falls into "Spoof an IP address" or "Use a VPN proxy", they might want to investigate how it happened on their end if needed.
However, they can not find which pattern it falls into from just the "Unkown IP" description. For example, if the User Activity Report shows something like "Box internal IP" for "Use Box’s internal IP address" pattern, customers can tell that they don't have to worry as long as it shows "Box internal IP" since it was kicked by a legit IP address.
This is an improvement request.

Ability to edit shared link settings on Desktop
Currently, the only way to generate a shared link on Desktop is to generate the default style link (i.e. shared only within your company).
In order to get to the share settings window dialogue, you currently need to open the file on web.
It would be great to incorporate the share window dialogue natively in PC/Mac. This is a common feature currently available on OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive.

Notifications + Override ability for Folder Owners when a folder is Deleted by a Collaborator
When in Box Drive, collaborators can inadvertently delete a large folder, even if they don't own that folder. Before the folder is able to be deleted, the owner of the folder should receive a notification with a warning (e.g. Jane Doe is about to delete your files) and the owner should have the ability to override the action. In the case where the Owner is no longer at the company, there should be an Admin warning and ability to override the action.

Set default on how to display a link
I'm not sure when this was added, I didn't see it in the release notes. But when pasting a link into a Box Note, there are now options on how the link is to be displayed. It defaults to "Display Link Title". Can you please add a setting to change that default to another option?
"Display as URL" is far more useful when you are pasting links (for example) from Jira or ServiceNow, where "Display Link Title" only says "Jira" every time, forcing you to go into each link and changing it to URL to see every link.

Access Policy to Restrict Access to Specified Groups
With Hubs, users' ability to add content to a Hub increases the chance of accidentally giving access to unintended internal users. For sensitive content, it would be nice to be able to have an access policy applied to specific classification that restricts document access to users in specific groups to prevent internal data leakage.

Create a New Folder Bugs - cursor not in text box, no return to create
Sometime in the last month, there was a UI update with Box that changed how creating a New Folder functions. Now, when creating a new folder, the cursor does not start in the name box, so you have to manually click into the box to start typing. Secondly, you can no longer press enter/return to create the folder; you have to drag your cursor and click the "create" button. This combination has been a frustrating change for seemingly no reason. Renaming a folder still automatically lets you type in names and press return to create, so it's definitely an accidental bug. Please fix asap!
