I am a fan of central management of users. One feature is the admin's ability to create password for the accounts.
As long as I have known box, there should be a feature that allows the admin of the company account. to create users and assign their passwords. This is a key factor in central management and control. It is almost a red flag for me, on implenetation.

"Bob has accepted the invitation to..." (x1000)
Getting these automatic emails each time a folder is shared bogs down my notifications. Is there anyway I can turn these specific notifications off? Alternatively, could I please disable the "Automatically accept initiations" setting for the company as admin?

Box Preview - Support native preview of .XLSB format
For regulatory requirements, users are required to have the 'Previewer' access level on certain content to avoid Download permissions.
However, this means the user is unable to use Excel Online Previewer (due to this requiring 'Download' permission), nor open the file in another editor.
Unlike the .XLSX or .XLSM formats, .XLSB files do not generate a PDF conversion, which makes these files fully inaccessible to Previewers.
The request is for .XLSB files to be supported in Box's native Content Preview.

Visualizing Template Usage and Deletion within the Tenant
In Box Relay, users can publish the workflows they create as templates, allowing other users within the tenant to use them.
However, when we want to delete templates that haven’t been used within the organization for a long time, we have to ask the original creator to unpublish or delete them, which is cumbersome.
If unnecessary workflows remain, the interface becomes cluttered and administration becomes difficult. These issues can be resolved by surfacing templates that haven’t been used for an extended period within the tenant and allowing administrators to unpublish or delete them.
We request a feature in the Admin Console’s Relay Templates list view to display the “Last Used” date and enable selecting older templates for bulk deletion.〈テナント内テンプレートの利用状況可視化と削除機能の実装〉
Box Relay
In Box Relay, users can publish the workflows they create as templates, allowing other users within the tenant to use them.

ability to format number field in metadata display to show fixed number of decimal places and commas
Number fields uploaded as float with 2 decimal places do not display decimals if the digit is 0. Is there a way to format numbers to display as currency format #,###.##? Please add this feature especially useful for using in Box Apps.

Add metadata to files uploaded via a box form.
We are using box forms, doc gen and relay to create construction site walks summaries. We then use Box Extract to add metadata to the summary. Part of the site walk is uploading photos of issues found during the walk. I would like to be able to apply metadata from the summary to any photos uploaded from the same form. It would be things like the Property Name, Date of Site Walk and Who took the photos. Since all of these vary from one site walk to the next, I don't know of a way to, other than manually or with API's, of applying this data to a photo.

New Folder Box Keyboard Usage
With the most recent update, when starting a new folder in the new folder dialogue box that pops up, you now can't start typing immediately in the name field without clicking into it. Also, pressing Enter does not trigger the "create" button like it once did. This makes working in Box much slower since you have to click around to do anything instead of just using the keyboard.

Ability to hide date and other metadata for external shares
When sharing to external users, it would be nice to have the ability to remove the date from view, as it can sometimes be privileged information to see that kind of metadata.

Make Move+Copy pop-up default back to the folder you're in
Up until a couple days ago, when you clicked Move + Copy on a file/folder, the pop-up would load with the current folder you're in, making it very simple to move files up one level (out of their current subfolder). Now, the pop-up defaults to the home screen. So if I want to move files out of one subfolder, I have to navigate through twenty different folders to get back to where I was.
Please change it back!

New Login Custom Logo Display
A recent Login update has caused Custom Branding Logos to display verry small in all browsers to the point its not readable. I opened a Box support case and after multiple attempts to resize I was told it was working as expected.
Please upvote this if your custom branding is not correctly sized on the login page so Box can fix this.
Here is the link to the change that caused this.:

Box for Outlook - Default no attachments selected
When using the Box Outlook app, by default all attachments are selected. I would default to no attachments and require people to select they want to save.
The main reason is that for EVERY email there is normally MANY image files that make up part of the signature, it is necessary to unselected many more image files than the attachment(s) we want to save.

Box for Outlook - Seamless login with SSO
The Box app in Outlook is currently not a great user experience requiring users to login daily. It should pass existing SSO credentials across and login at least after the first set-up. Look at Asana as an example of how this should work

Scheduled Metadata-Based Automation for Document Lifecycle Management
Today, Relay workflows are primarily event-driven and lack the ability to run on a recurring schedule to evaluate metadata conditions.
For knowledge management use cases, it would be highly valuable to support:
Dynamic metadata setting on approval
When a knowledge article is approved, automatically set a “Next Review Date” based on configurable offsets (e.g., +30, +60, +90 days)Scheduled Relay execution
Ability to run a workflow on a recurring basis (e.g., daily)
Evaluate metadata fields such as “Review Date” or “Expiration Date”Conditional actions based on date evaluation
If Review Date = Today, trigger actions such as:
Notify knowledge manager for review
Move document to a review queue
Archive or delete outdated contentThis capability would enable proactive knowledge hygiene, reduce manual overhead, and ensure content remains accurate and up to date for AI-driven knowledge platforms

Toggle for automatically opening documents in a new tab
Either allowing Right Click on suggested search bar results or creating a toggle where clicking a document/picture/file/etc opens it in a new tab instead of on the current tab. I am SO tired of hitting the back arrow/duplicating pages when I need to open more than one document at a time

Support IAL2/AAL2 Identity Providers as a Box Login
Box should partner with identity providers like ID.me and Login.gov, allowing for enterprises to ensure a smooth and secure login process for managed users and external collaborators alike . Users should be able to use these credentials to access Box.
This is especially important to reduce the risk of unverified external collaborators accessing sensitive enterprise content. Ideally, admins can enforce these IdP logins for external collaborators (similarly to how the current 2FA setting for external collaborators works). These two identity providers can require IAL2/AAL2 identity verification and authentication in accordance with NIST 800-63-3 standards.

Option to default new Office files to web editor without disabling Box Edit
Currently, when Box Edit is installed/enabled, newly created Word/Excel files in Box open automatically in the desktop app, interrupting workflows for users who prefer the web editor (like me at SMRU Consulting). Disabling Box Edit fixes this but removes desktop editing entirely, which isn't ideal.
Requested Feature:
Add a setting to default newly created Office files to open in Microsoft 365 for Web, while keeping Box Edit active for existing files or manual "Open in desktop" choices.
Bonus: A prompt on creation ("Open in web / desktop?") for flexibility.
Why It Matters:
Streamlines workflows for web-first users without sacrificing Box Edit.
Prevents unwanted desktop launches, especially with Box Drive installed.
Improves productivity in enterprise setups like ours (multi-TB marine consulting folders).
Workaround Issues:
Disabling Box Edit works but blocks desktop access for Office/non-Office files – not viable for all users. Please add this to the roadmap! Happy to provide more details or test betas.

Move/Copy dialog search no longer shows parent folder path
In the Move/Copy dialog, search results no longer display the parent folder or path context for folders with identical names.
Previously, search results clearly showed both the folder name and its parent location. Now, only the folder name is shown, resulting in duplicate entries that are indistinguishable unless each one is opened.
