Folder migration improvements
Folder migration improvements
The current process for changing folder ownership and transferring it to a new location is cumbersome and inefficient. It involves:
1) Logging into the Admin Console and impersonating the owner's account to change the folder ownership.
2) Waiting an unspecified amount of time for the change to take effect.
3) Logging in as the new owner to move the folder to its new location.
4) Waiting again for another unspecified amount of time for the move to finalize.We are undertaking a large-scale project to transfer folder ownership from individual accounts to a service-level account and reorganize them. This process is not scalable and unnecessarily complex, creating significant delays. Instead of getting bogged down in these technical steps, I would prefer to focus on the organizational aspects of the project.
Suggestions for improvements:
1) Add an estimated timer as to how long folder moves / ownership changes will take (so I can communicate with my staff on downtime). My team has engaged with Box Support as well as Box Professional Services teams multiple times and neither has been able to give us a clear answer as to what is the dictating metric for now long changes to folders takes -- is it the number of item count or size in data?
2) Consolidate folder moves / ownership changes into a single step.
3) Add option to automation capabilities to automate the above at scale with preset source/destination pathings and desired owners.Folder migration improvements

About BoxDrive upload error notification messages

Regarding the desktop notification method when a BoxDrive upload error occurs,
From version 2.41 onwards, a message similar to a Windows notification may be displayed.
I would like each user to be able to set whether or not to display the message.supplement:
Since it was not displayed until now, past errors are accumulated,
Since the accumulated amount is displayed as a message, some users may have more than 200 messages displayed, and the messages will be displayed periodically until they are resolved.
Since it will take time to resolve the error, I would like you to add a function setting to turn off the message display. Also, the reason why errors occur frequently is because the automatic locking and unlocking of files is done through registry settings, and these settings are not very reliable.

バージョン2.41以降よりWindows通知のようなメッセージが表示されるようになったかと思いますが、
メッセージを表示させるかどうかはユーザーごとに任意で設定できるようにして頂きたいです。補足:
今まで表示されなかったので過去のエラーが蓄積されており、
その蓄積分も含めてメッセージで表示されるためユーザーによっては表示が200件を超え、解消されるまで定期的に表示されます。
エラー解消に時間がとられてしまいますので、メッセージの表示をオフにする機能設定を追加して頂きたいです。またエラーが頻発する理由としては、ファイルの自動ロック・解除をレジストリ設定で行っており、その設定の確実性が高くない為です。

Ability to Define which folders/files are included in Box AI answer
Admins have the ability to define which files and folders are included in Box AI.
For example - at our oganization there are multiple SOPs and other operational documents that are useful but saved in different root folders.
This would enable admin/folder owner to determine if folder/file is to be included into Box AI Queries

Share the main folder but restrict some specific sub-folders
Box should allow to share a Folder and also restrict the access to some of its sub-folders. In addition, we sould be able to let the restricted sub-folder displayed or not to the user subject of the restriction.

Box Classification Settings: provide ability to restrict modifications to Admins and Co-Admins
Currently, Box Classification configuration allows you to restrict classification modifications to Owner, Co-Owner, Editor, and Viewer Uploader. We would like to add Admin and Co-Admin to this list. Thank you!

Add Box AI support for MP4 and other video file formats
Add Box AI support for MP4 and other video file formats.
Speech-to-text can be used to "read" the audio of the video. Box AI can then answer questions bsaed on that text.

box AI for meeting transcripts
Will Box AI have capability to capture speech and write into Box Notes? We use Box Notes for all our internal meetings so having Box AI in Box Notes is great but could it also capture the meeting discussion and create a full transcript of the meeting? Maybe via Box Mobile or using Zoom integration with Box? Thinking similar to GONG call recordings.

Box has recently changed the way file verssions count against storage quota.
With a Personal Pro account type there is no way to limit the number of file versions its set at 10. This makes 100gb of storage into 10gb of storage with each file saved 10 times. I'd like to see an option to limit or turn off file versions as I understand the Enterprise edition has. Also, there is no way to quickly delete all these unnecessary and unwanted file versions. I was told we need to click each file and delete each version one by one. I'd like to see a quick global way to delete old file versions.
Overnight my storage went from 90gb used to 170gb used do to the change made to the way versions are counted toward total quota. I didn't know about versions before this and certainty don't want them. I have 500,000 files all mostly less than 25mg but with each one being stored up to 10 times with with no way to stop it or remove them my box sync account is suddenly not functional. I'll never be able to re-move all the versions and have no desire to be forced to pay 5x more to be enterprise when there are other similar software such as dropbox that is already cheaper than box and giving much more storage and compatibility. I had box set up and working well enough for me for 7 or 8 years now but since they broke it with this change, I hope they will fix it with some additional changes I've suggested here, I'll have to set up a dropbox account. If this software issue isn't resolved before my renewal date then I just wont renew. I hope it is, I prefer not to change, just being forced too.

file name order
When I sort by file name. Why does it go by filename-1, filename-11, filename-12. Can we adjust it so it is sort filename sequence? filename-1, filename-2, filename-3

Auto update table information across multiple Box notes
As you update data in a table in one Box note, if it is the same table, have it AUTO UPDATE in another note where it is replicated.

Box AI Prompt Closes on Outside Clicks
Box AI prompt screen automatically closes when clicking outside of it. This issue becomes particularly problematic when using digital adoption tools to provide a guided tutorial for Box AI. When users click on the tutorial, it is interpreted as clicking outside the Box AI prompt, causing the prompt to close. As a result, the educational guide cannot be executed effectively.

UX - Not clear when a note name is taken
When a user insert a note name and the name is already taken, there is a small notification at the end of the line.
It is not visible enough, and when focusing out the name reverts to the previous option.It took me 2-3 times to understand what the issue is because the notice wasn't clear enough.
Possible solutions :
1. add a suffix to the name

Our investigation of the synchronization speed is based on the following items.Pattern (3) Upload to Box Drive and check the screen update on WebUI: Result: No automatic update even after waiting for more than 5 minutes.
Pattern (5) Delete the file on WebUI and check the update on Box Drive: Result: 20 seconds
Pattern 6: Delete the file on the Box Drive and check for updates on the WebUI: result: 3 minutes
Pattern ⑦ Delete the file on Box Drive and confirm the update on Box Drive on the other terminal: result 16 sec.
Pattern ⑧ Edit the file on WebUI and confirm the update on Box Drive: result: 10 seconds
Pattern (9) Edit the file on Box Drive and confirm the update on WebUI: result: 52 sec.
Pattern ⑩ Edit on Box Drive and confirm updates on Box Drive on another terminal: Result 2 min 10 secWe are aware that the synchronization method differs from that of other companies' products, but all of the other companies' products complete the process within 5 seconds.
We would like to request that you improve the synchronization speed, as a slow synchronization speed is not convenient for users and can lead to shadow IT.

Share this link. Box.com's aggressive marketing misleads our customers.
Hello Box!
Unfortunately, we cannot fully use your product due to your company's aggressive marketing, which misleads external users.
The problem lies in the implementation of sharing public links to files or folders with external users:
- When an external user opens the link, they see a pop-up message from Box in a green field (as shown in screenshot 1): "Log in to Box to save all files you view in your Recents and return to them at any".
If our client does not click the small white cross on the right to close this message, they are redirected to the Box login page, even though they received this link to view a presentation or download it.
This service message also hides the important "Download" button, which our client does not immediately see.
This service message is clearly part of aggressive marketing to attract new users to the Box service at the expense of convenience and efficiency for its current clients.
Solution we propose:
Disable this message, as it misleads our clients and forces us to use Google Disk for file sharing, since it doesn't have such issues. For an ordinary person who is not familiar with Box, it's not obvious how to download a file.- When a client who received the link still finds the "Download" button and clicks it, they are again misled if they are an inexperienced user: they are prompted to join or log in to Box (screenshot 2).
Solution:
Please remove these buttons and messages, leaving only the status that the file is downloading, as is done in Google Disk and Dropbox. Why this aggressive marketing that harms real clients?- Please place the "Download" button in a visible spot next to each file when hovering over it. Currently, you need to click the "three dots — more options" icon for this (screenshot 3).
We would be very grateful if you take our suggestions into account, as we are sure this will make your service more convenient and even more popular among a larger number of users. This way, we won't have to use Google Disk for these tasks, fearing to mislead our clients and constantly explaining how to download a file via the link.

Google and Microsoft FORMS integration is missing!
I see that this is not planned based on lack of demand. I'm writing this comment to increase the demand.
I will continue to use SharePoint or Google drive because this is missing from box.
Word, PPT, Excel, Google docs, slides and sheets are all here... why not forms?

Rename 'include subfolders' switch in User Activity report to 'include activity within subfolders'
There has been some confusion, as not enabling this switch still includes activity directly impacting the subfolders that sit in the parent level.

Allow Box Canvas to draw relational data diagram
Allow for more arrow options so we can actually use Canvas to build data table relational diagram, so data table relationship can be illustrated for one-many, many-one, one-one and many-many types.

Seamless zoom in box web app for pictures
In light of Box's stance for Windows Universal apps. I'm requesting improved zooming support inside the preview/webapp experience.
Currently to zoom you must manually click the +/- button which is a loss of function compared to a native desktop app where you might be able to zoom with the mouse wheel or ctrl+mouse wheel.
Requesting that Box add a similar functionality to the preview / webapp.
Below is Box' current official workaround for the issue:
Windows Store Applications (Photos, Office, etc.): Users are unable to open files from the Box Drive folder when navigating to it from within these applications. Users may also experience errors or silent failures when saving from these applications into Box Drive.
We recommend you install the .exe or .msi version of these applications (for example, Photos or Office) instead of the Windows Store app. Otherwise, on the windows store app you'll need to save the item outside of the Box folder and then drag the item back into Box.In light of Box's stance for Windows Universal apps.
