Create new folder from Move/Copy Dialogue box
We regularly need to move and copy content to different locations in Box. It would be very helpful to have a "New Folder" option within the move/copy dialogue Box. This would help mirror desktop functionality (and sync, which currently supports this feature).
8 votesThis is a very narrow use case, so it’s not a priority for our roadmap right now.

Ability to run custom in-app messaging banners from the Admin Console
Admins would like to create custom in-app messaging banners to display to their users when they are logged into Box.
In-App Messaging banners could be used to promote training, drive awareness and adoption, inform users of new features or internal policies, etc.

Report on Folder Security settings changes
Would like changes to Folder Security settings to show in the Event stream and in Usage Logs. Since all Owners and Co-Owners of folders have access to these configurations, this is crucial to tracking changes to the security of sensitive content.

Using groups will allow adding more collaborators to a folder and is our recommended approach for these types of situations.

Request to Add Overwrite/Version Functionality to File Copy Operations via API
Currently the only way to add a version to a file is to download it and upload the new version with the If-Match header.
We are archiving files when a new file version is uploaded to a "main" folder, and to do that we have to download the existing version to our server and then generate a separate request to upload the file.
Ideally, we would be able to combine the requests into one - a COPY (https://box-content.readme.io/reference#copy-a-file) that can overwrite an existing file in the destination folder if the appropriate etag is supplied during the copy request.
5 votesThis is not something we will build due to other roadmap commitments.
Alternatively, you could always upload latest version to “backup folder,” delete file from “current version” folder, then copy “backup folder” version to “current version” folder.
This will get you 100% version history in backup folder and avoid the need to download & upload the file a second time.

Unable to see file/folder/metadata details when viewing deleted files
Scenario: A user deletes a folder and the admin, from content manager, is looking to quickly see which files were in that folder. Conversely, if a file is deleted, it's not easy to see which folder it was in.

Audit behavior of how enterprise settings are applied.
Most of our settings are applied day forward. We should add an option to apply immediately to all existing users and folders.
Day forward settings for example are Expiration settings, Domain Whitelist settings.
0 votesRetroactive application of settings is not scalable. We are unlikely to implement this change and the current behavior is by design.

Error message shown for failed uploads could be more descriptive or specific.
"There was a problem downloading the items. Please try again" is the provided error message for a downloading error.
We would like this message to be more descriptive and potentially include information around which specific files have and haven't been successful so that users able to continue the download as required.
3 votesThanks for the feedback. We understand the use case and potential value in this type of update. While its not on the roadmap at this time, we’ll keep it in mind for the future.

Custom Terms of Service - Rich Text Formatting
We will be sending many external collaboration invitations to users and would like to format their custom terms of service (Bold, Underline, bullets, spacing).
0 votesWe don’t have immediate plans to address TOS. We’ll want to see other feedback related TOS before determining if it makes sense to revisit.

Major/minor flagging or differentiation in their version history.
It is important to be able to manage milestone updates to a single document that can be referred back to, both major and minor.
Some of this has been compounded by the additional versions created by autosave when using MS Office concurrent editing.
29 votesThanks for the suggestion. Please continue to post use cases and feedback, to help us prioritize for a future release.

Search - Add Microsoft Visio Files (.vsd, .vsdx, etc.) to the 'Full Text Search' Index
Box already has in-file search ('full text search') on other Office file types (Word Docs, PowerPoint files, and Excel spreadsheets), so users expect that Visio files (which are part of the Office suite) would also be indexed by Box.
REQUEST: Include contents of Visio files (.vsd, .vsdx, etc.) in Box's search index.
Context - here's the externally-documented list of file types supported by Box's in-file ('full text search') feature: https://community.box.com/t5/Managing-Your-Content/Search-Overview-and-FAQs/ta-p/354#search_hdsiw
18 votesThanks for the feedback! We have and added this to our backlog. Due to low customer demand for these types, they are currently not prioritized on the roadmap.

Ability to see additional info from a shared link (file/folder owner, parent folder/location, etc.)
Oftentimes, users get access to a link that is shared with them via email, chat, etc.
If the owner or the file is deleted, moved, or transferred, there isn't an easy way to identify where the file lives and who owns it either from an end user or admin perspective.
Currently, we have to reach out to Box Support to look up the file ID or shared link to get this information.
1 voteThis is an interesting feature! However, it does not have enough demand in order to be prioritized. We will reconsider with additional feedback.

More granular setting options for users set to "Inactive" in the Admin Console
We would like two sub options for accounts set to "Inactive" status in the Edit User Profile details (in addition to the existing Inactive setting behavior):
Inactive sub-option 1: Enable a warning for all existing shares and collaborations that the Inactive user owns. If another user is accessing a folder owned by the Inactive user, they should be informed that the content could be deleted with the deletion of the account, and that a copy should be taken quickly.
Inactive sub-option 2: Enable a warning AND make content read-only for all existing shares and collaborations that the Inactive user owns.…
2 votesThis is a good use case, but other user statuses might partially solve some of these needs. Let us know in the comments if it does not.

Stylus Input - Support Stylus Input in Box Notes
Ability to record handwritten notes directly into a Box Note, from a tablet or phone using a stylus.
14 votesWe will do our best to support any operating system-level support for a stylus. But the demand for this is more rare, so it is Not Planned for our roadmap.

Allow Folder Description to be created in same step as creating new folder name
When user clicks 'New Folder' they should be able to edit both the Folder name and the folder description in one step from the pop-up window.
0 votesWe removed this functionality because it had low usage and caused confusion for many users. Thank you for your feedback.

Create Setting to be able to 'Hide' user from Shared Contacts
This pertains to companies who would like to be FERPA compliant.
0 votesWe have not heard much about this use case. For now, it is not prioritized. We will reconsider with additional updates.
