  1. Ability to rename the parent directory in Box Drive

I would like to know if it is possible to rename the parent directory in Box Drive. Right now ti seems that nothing I do, even in the registry, will stop the folder being named “Box”.

Please let me know if there is any way I can rename this folder to anything other than “Box”.

  2. Optional functionality when creating “shared links” directly from “box drive

When creating a “shared link” directly from a “box drive”, there is no ability to set an expiration date or password. It would be desirable to be able to set them for the purpose of preventing the creation of open links from reducing the level of security.

  3. Seamless login for Box Drive in non-persistent VDI environments

Users have to log in to the Box apps (Box Drive, Box Notes, etc.) each time, as the user profile info is blown away from the non-persistent VDU environment after logoff. This results in a very poor user experience. They'd like to leverage embedded windows authentication if possible but are open to other ideas.

  4. Request to improve the behavior of files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set on Box Drive

In Shield > Access Policy, we are creating a classification label for the policy that has "Restrict downloading and printing" set as the security control.
Depending on when you set this label classification, Box Drive may not have the limitations you expect.
I would like to see an improvement so that files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set cannot be opened or copied in Box Drive from the moment the settings are set.

The specific steps and events are as follows.
    1. Open the file before setting the classification label in Box Drive.
    2. Edit, save and close the…

  5. Gap in deleting a file being locked between WebApp and Box Drive

In WebApp, collaborators don't have trash menu against the locked file, meaning collaboration cannot delete it during being locked. However, they are able to remove the locked file from their drive and leave an error in problem items. This deletion can only be done within Box Drive and the file isn't actually deleted. After removing the file lock, Box Drive will make it effective on Box. This can lead the users to create a same item before removing the file lock, and edit.

  6. Upgrade Box Drive-G Drive 100 MB Limit Size Limitation

I have a ticket number - #2250687 that has been closed because we need a feature request. When a file is created in Google Docs via Box, most of our users at Apeel keep having issues making changes, saving, sharing or downloading files.
What happens is Google makes edits to the file, the file grows larger than 100 MB, Google then fails to send those changes to Box. While this scenario is not desired it is technically expected; because of the Google error, Box is unable to receive new information and update the file size or content.

    Please…

  7. Box Drive Moving a Folder Off of Drive Fully Deletes it From Box for Mac FPE Users, Folder Lock API Enhancements

For PC Users on Drive (and historically for Mac users), when you move a folder from Box Drive onto your Desktop, it simply makes a copy of that folder and leaves the original in Box.
However, for Mac Users on the new FPE version of Box Drive, if they move a folder from Drive onto the Desktop, it fully deletes the folder from Box.
For example, I am an Editor on a Marketing Folder that's owned by the IT Service Account and shared with hundreds of colleagues. I accidentally move this folder from Box Drive onto my…

  8. Restrict Box Drive files from being viewable/accessible from Windows command prompt

Box Drive files can actually be viewed and manipulated (to some extent) from Windows command prompt. We are concerned about the potential for malicious command line scripts that could be .run to steal information from our Box tenant

  9. Display pop-up notification to let users know that Box Drive is able to be started

Please display a pop-up notification to let users know that Box Drive is able to be started (or in other words, users are able to open contents).

We own a lot of content - this makes Box Drive take a long time checking the updated contents and starting up.
This is causing delays of Box Drive being launched.
If a notification pops up when Box Drive is ready to start accessing contents, users would not have to check the status of Box Drive so frequently.
Instead, they could work on other things while waiting for Box Drive to start.

  10. Add verification question when moving files in Box Drive using File Explorer

In the web box.com environment moving folders or files is verified with a question. This is not the case using Box Drive and moiving files or folders using File Explorer.

A similar question as in box.com and if you delete files in Files Explorer should have been added for moving files in Box Drive. By accident root folder containing hundreds of GB may be moved and hidden into subfolders causing severe problems.

Windows Server 2012 is not supported by Box as only two latest major versions (64-bit) are supported.

  12. Ability to Make Specific Folders Persistent in Box Drive

In order for some of our CADD standards to work properly we have our users marking a specific folder for offline use. It would be nice if there was an admin setting to mark specific folders to be precached or persistent in Box Drive for specific users or groups.

  13. Option to prevent Drive from launching on startup by user

We are preparing to deploy Box Drive to our users using the Windows .msi. However we've found that after installation, the Box Drive window opens automatically for every user, every time they log into the computer. For users on a shared system who are not using Box, this means dismissing the window every login.
We'd like an option for Box Drive installation to not have the client launch automatically for all users. Or post-installation, allow the user to tell Box Drive not to open automatically for them. If the Box Drive client needs to run at login for every…

  14. Box Drive client should fall back to attempt direct connection if proxy fails

In short, if Box Drive sees a proxy and attempts to connect via the proxy but that fails, it should fall back and attempt a direct connection before failing completely.

I experienced this on Windows. Not sure if it would apply to other OSes or not.

    The specific details...

I'm in a Corporate environment with a laptop. When our laptops are on the corporate network, we do go through a proxy. But when off of the corporate network, like working at home, it doesn't use the proxy. We use an auto-config proxy .pac file to control the proxy on and…

When using Box Drive, we often move/delete file(s) by mistake!

We want easily check the history of actions taken to moved/deleted contents, in order to easily restore it to its original location in case of a mistake.

  16. Box Drive Install - Convert Synced Files/Folder to Marked for Offline

After installing Box Drive, the items that were previously synchronized with Box Sync should marked for offline. It is a disincentive for my team to have to resync all these folders. Additionally, the synced link on the web interface does not seem to serve a purpose since it does not reflect the items now marked for offline.

  17. Be able to move files on Box online and have it update in Box Drive without having to log out.

When moving large folders via Box online, the folder dissapears within Box Drive. According to Box, this is intended behavior, and requires the user to log out of the software and log back in, which resets what is synced. Box Drive should be able to update folder changes without having to sign out of the account.

  18. Box Drive should ignore files would be in a hidden folder/directory

Box Drive should ignore files would be in a hidden folder/directory. For example, this file has a parent folder that is named ".Rproj.user" which starts with a dot.

  20. Admin-level alert notification on certain Box Drive permission errors

Users can create folders in Box Drive at the root level. In a closed folder taxonomy, the folder does not sync and fails with permission and/or problem item errors. If a user does not address the notification (or notifications are disabled), users can continue to create content in the unsynced folders. Icon overlays are also not reliable, so this will not be discovered until the content is lost due to hardware failure or software/OS reload. Consider alerting admins of these issues via the event stream or Shield-type alerts to prevent data loss, or disabling the creation of folders this way.
