Allow an upload of data for Options fields in Metadata templates.
For the metadata templates, our team has large lists of projects, clients, names, etc that would be best uploaded for potential Option fields in various metadata templates. This would help upon setup and updating of templates.

Service Accounts should be rate limited differently than user accounts
Currently, when you use a service account to access Box API's, in order to get access to content you need to use the As-User header "impersonate" users in order to access the files that are owned by then.
So if you are doing something like using a service account to crawl through all the files in a folder in box, you would need to use the As-User header in order to impersonate a user who owns/has access to each file while doing it.
But there is a huge problem here is that the rate limiting is done using the As-User header. The service account is not treated specially in any way and the rate limiting is done per user as if the service account actually is the user that is doing the requests.
This causes massive amounts of rate limiting when trying to access the files in the folder.
Service accounts should be treated as "app auth" and should not be restricted by the same rate limits as users.
Other cloud content providers such as Google Drive and SharePoint Online treat app-auth differently than user auth for this same reason. We are requesting that Box.com changes to do this as well.

Update "Not Part of Company" Text to Look Like a Button
When you share a folder or document with a client who is not a part of your organization they receive an email, they then create a login, they are then sent to a page that says "Company uses your network username and password to login to Box. Continue to login to Box through your network." There is then a Continue button and then text that read "Not part of Company" All 66 of my clients have clicked on the button and not on the text because the text does not look click-able. It would be fantastic if that text could look like a button. Thank you.

Intermediate collaborator permission level between "Editor" and "Viewer/Uploader"
"Viewer/Uploader" is the second state in the series of current box collaborator permission levels for general users. However its operable range is very limited comparing to "Editor".
It would be more convenient for users to have another subdivided level or two, such as "Semi-Editor" which is possible to operate files but unable to change levels.3 votes -
Get Notification on upload
Currently owner of the folder alone will get notifications when a file is uploaded. We have a requirement for the uploader of the file to get notification as well so that it will serve as an acknowledgement for the upload

Add an optional custom message when locking the file
When you lock a file in Box, it would good to add your own message when locking the file as to why you have locked the file. By providing this, you can inform others who go to unlock the file why you have the file locked in the first place and either
a) discourage them from racing through the confirmation dialog and unlocking the file
b) provide additional context to them as to how much longer you will be with the fileThe message is optional so if you don't want to add additional comments, you can still lock the file.
Hopefully, this feature would lead to less unintentional unlocking of files and, therefore, less file conflicts to resolve.

collections available in modal windows
Everywhere that uses a modal window should surface collections. For example in Teams adding a file to a chat to share, modal window appears. Show collections.
Another example - When creating a workflow and then using the file picker modal window appears. Show collections.
Collections should be everywhere, it is a killer feature that would get more use if you could rely on every interaction with box showing collections. (otherwise it makes using box more difficult remembering where content is)

A Custom Collection Portal Page
Business goal: The ability to share a visual customized page (like a web page) with various Box artifacts and other modules (described below) with peers, customers, team members, etc. Use cases:
- A project collaboration page
- Policies and procedures page
- Manuals and instruction page
- Product information site
- Business Development collaboration site
- Various
Major Feature
The ability to create a blank page and drop multiple "favorites" on the page. In essence, it is similar to sharing a "collection" of Box favorites, but a more visually appealing view. Other features of this custom portal page:- Ability to filter the contents of the favorites added to the page
- Ability to add modules with varying use cases (box note, free html, header titles, navigation if sub pages exist, search bar, rich text, Slack channel, hyperlinks to other favorites, RSS feeds, etc.)
- Ability to share the page with customers, partners, team members
- Ability to drag and drop modules to different parts of page
- Tracking of hits to the page
Benefits
1. Could be a true personal landing application for employees

Hide thumbnails in previewing a doc
I would like the opportunity to hide the thumbnails that appear on the left side of the screen when I preview the document. I would love to be able to have more real estate to look at the doc itself. There may be a time when it might be important to have those thumbnails come back, so a way to hide and unhide it would be great.

*.jar files should not be opened like *.zip files
I sometimes share software patches with customers via Box. The files are often .jar... This is the file extension for Java Archives, which are a type of .zip format. However, unlike .zip, they are not intended to be opened by users. The Box interface (desktop at least) previews the files/folders inside a selected .jar file. It is confusing to the user. Instead, these files should be handled as downloads only.

Spell checking in actions comment box
You need to enable spell checking in the actions for a document. This is very frustrating when you are trying to quickly respond to or post a comment.

The ability to exclude Box Drive and Box Sync synchronization processes and file opened downloads in the download policy of Box Governance o
The ability to exclude Box Drive and Box Sync synchronization processes and file opened downloads in the download policy of Box Governance options
The download policy of the Box Governace option also detects the synchronization process in Box Sync and Box Drive, as well as the downloading of files when they are opened.
Therefore, it is not possible to detect only those downloads that are intended by the user.
By adding the Box Sync and Box Drive synchronization process and a setting to exclude downloads when a file is opened, you can detect and monitor large numbers of user-initiated downloads.3 votes -

new box layout is worse than old
When you upload long list of images, you can't track any more which one was just opened. It is used to be a bar on left hand side to track where I was last, now not even highlight??? It is going to take me 3x time to find out what was the last image I viewed. So disappointed. Can I please return old layout style, or add the bar to track individual files in each folder.

Ability to remove metadata template that has cascaded down from all children
Similar to removal of Classification from all children items, provide the ability to remove metadata template that cascaded down from all the children. Basically undo metadata cascade.

Set a configuration option to toggle thumbnails off by default
When a multipage, or multisheet, document is opened in Box, the thumbnails are toggled open by default and take up much of the left side of the screen. A configuration option should be offered to allow a user to set the thumbnail toggle off by default.

Custom Support information (including displayed text)
Currently, when you edit support information in the Admin Console (phone number, email, support URL), this is displayed in the "Get Help" section but it is, in my opinion, too rigid. For example, the Support Site URL is displayed as "Help center" in the callout and this cannot be changed to match the language we use internally.
It would be great to customize this "Get Help" callout to customize existing items as well as add additional items to help point users to the correct resources e.g.
- Add an item called "Raise a ticket" so users can click a link to raise a ticket internally on Box
- Rename "Help center" to "Box Guides and Resources"
- Change the link for "Get training" to point to our internal training platform (which includes Box)
- Add an item called "Got a question?" which will point people to an internal Teams channel to ask a general question. etc etc.
This way, users can be better informed about how to use Box within our organisation and where to turn if they have an issue or are unsure about something.

Only allow users to set shared link expiration up to the Enterprise setting limit
When setting up a shared link in Box, we want the user to be able to set the expiration up to the Enterprise setting, but not beyond the Enterprise setting.
A shared link with a shorter expiration time is more secure but less convenient. The security level varies depending on the content, so it would be desirable for users to be able to set an expiration date below the Enterprise setting.
Managed users set expiration dates beyond their Enterprise settings, allowing content to be accessed for unintended periods of time.
