  1. Longer log retention period for Legal Holds

Box retains log data for a year, but we need longer log retention period for Legal Holds.

  2. Version number in Legal Holds Report

Legal Holds Report includes "File Version ID", but this value is like "109680448118".

We have to call APIs to get the actual version number. It's more useful to include "sequence_id" in Legal Holds Report.

Thank you for the submission! This is not work we have scoped in the near term, but will reconsider with additional customers supporting this suggestion.

  3. User-Level 'History/Activity Manager' - View Prior Actions with Option to Undo

Users often perform a variety of actions in their account - renaming files, moving files, copying files, etc.

There's always a success/failure banner (with an 'undo' button) for these larger actions (like move/copy), but that banner is dismissed pretty quickly

There are scenarios, however, where a user performs an action (especially a somewhat destructive action - like accidentally moving a bunch of files) and they need to undo it AFTER the 'undo?' banner disappears.

REQUEST: Add an 'Activity Manager' or 'History Manager' at the account level that allows a user to view their actions and undo applicable ones. For example,…

Thank you for this request! I can appreciate this use case. This is not currently planned. We will reconsider this with additional demand.

  4. Ability to import/export group information to edit

To edit group settings efficiently, it's helpful that Box Admin can import/export group information for bulk edit.

There is a clear ask for bulk operations (edit/delete/add) for user management in the Admin Console, but we are currently focusing on making our user management pages and APIs scale and perform more quickly. While this is on our radar, we are not currently prioritizing this on our near term roadmap.

  5. Permanent Folder Tree View in Webapp (Similar to Windows Explorer/Finder)

Currently we have a 'jump to folder' option that provides a modal for navigating by using a folder tree view. Many customers would like this same tree view of their content as a permanent sidebar in the webapp for faster/easier 1) navigation and 2) context for where they're at in any given folder tree.

  6. Expire all shared links at parent-level folder

Request the ability to expire all shared links generated within a parent folder on a selected date. Shared links should still be able to be generated independently on files, subfolders, etc. but have the ability to control & manage the expiration holistically at the parent level.

We do not plan to implement this for the time being. We will reconsider with additional demand or use cases.

Thank you for your submission. However, this does not have enough demand in order to be prioritized.

We will reconsider with additional use cases.

  8. Error message for failure of password change is not clear.

For instance, typing current password or last time's password in new password field will showing same message "please make sure all field is valid."

  9. Major/minor flagging or differentiation in their version history.

It is important to be able to manage milestone updates to a single document that can be referred back to, both major and minor.

Some of this has been compounded by the additional versions created by autosave when using MS Office concurrent editing.

  11. Ability to 'Hide' Folders I've Been Added To

As a user, I've likely been added to numerous folders that I do not need to access daily or even often, but still need to remain a collaborator in. A 'hide folder' option may help with this, where a user would be able to hide a folder form their All Files view, but the user would not actually be removed as a collaborator from the folder. They would then be able to access all 'hidden' folders via a menu option on the left rail (or elsewhere).

Folder sprawl is an interesting challenge many of us face! To combat this, we’re recommending that users use the upcoming ‘Collections’ feature to group together content that’s frequently used vs. hiding content that’s infrequently used.

  12. Bulk Delete (Delete 2 or more users at once)

Add a native Bulk Delete tool on the Users tab of the Admin Console to complement the existing Bulk Add and Bulk Edit tools that we already have.

    Key Asks:
    1. Use a similar Excel sheet as the Bulk Add/Bulk Edit tool
    2. Ability to have a column with the user email to be deleted
    3. A column to choose who to automatically transfer the user's content to (the spreadsheet version of the existing Delete & Transfer UI that we have)
    4. Columns to choose whether to notify each user (the user being deleted and the user receiving the deleted…

We are not planning releasing bulk delete functionality at this time since we are focusing our efforts on building faster and more usable users pages. We will revisit this feature request next year.

  13. Periodic replication of Sandbox environment with Production settings/folder structure

As we become more complex with usage of Box, we maintain Sandbox environments and are using it to test Governance Policies, integrations, and more.

Other SaaS providers (e.g., Workday) will push a replication of Configuration Settings (with an option for the customer to not replicate) from the Production to Sandbox environment. This helps keep the two in sync.

It would also be enormously beneficial if the folder structure and dummy users (not content) could be replicated into the sandbox environment for a better sense of how changes will affect Production.

  14. Report on Folder Security settings changes

Would like changes to Folder Security settings to show in the Event stream and in Usage Logs. Since all Owners and Co-Owners of folders have access to these configurations, this is crucial to tracking changes to the security of sensitive content.

  16. Admin report or interface showing exactly where in a given file the Upload Policy was violated.

We are leveraging the Policies engine to create Upload Policies to detect and prevent PII from being uploaded into Box. When the upload policy exception is triggered, we would like to see a report or somewhere on the screen exactly where in the document the file violated the policy.

Ideally, by knowing what exactly triggered the policy, we would then use the 'Mark as False Positive' feature in the Content Manager Quarantine location to improve the Policy Engine's accuracy accordingly.

  17. Remove external collaborator after certain period of inactivity

We invite many external collaborators onto projects and it is tedious to remove them after projects end. Setting a global "remove external collaborator" time period does not always work because some projects last much longer than others.

Request:Ability to set a "remove collaborator if inactive within Domain for x time"

Thank you for the use case! Because there are a few ways to remove collaborators, it is unlikely we will prioritize this in our roadmap.

  19. Manage Quarantine Programmatically (via API)

There is no way to manage the quarantine process programmatically. As a result, we must individually release / delete quarantined files via the UI.

Given that the policies have a tendency to generate false positives, this process becomes very time consuming and difficult to manage and requires valuable IT time to click buttons (often for hours).

At our scale, and since we opt to use DLP policies, it's impossible to manage.

  20. Prevent users from creating accounts with "/" or "\" in the username

When users delete and transfer content in Box, a new folder will be created in the new users folder with a users username if that username include a / or \ if will throw and error. To prevent this from happening, please add restrictions in the username to prevent new accounts from being created with "/" or "\"
