Make folder/file description visible again under the File/Folder name vs new details pane
Description of file/folder has been moved to the details pane on the right side. My customer is seeing this as a regression and not as user friendly as before and would like to see description to come back under folder/file name (like in old UI) as opposed to the Details pane in New UI
17 votesThanks for the suggestion, however, at this time, we do not plan to revert the changes to the description pane.

Ability to register any email alias which by API
Currently, we have to register subdomains to their Box instance before they register email alias by API, but it's troublesome. It's OK to register email alias by GUI.
0 votesThis is not a priority at the moment given our roadmap commitments. We will reconsider with additional demand.

Would you provide additional detail? The request looks like a mix of a few different concepts. Seems unlikely we will have an API that returns everything as asked.
Can you potentially break these down? Seems the get subfolders request could be considered.

Expose Favorites in Box Drive
Favorites are becoming more and more popular now that they're better exposed (in the left rail) in the new Web App.
As such, users expect to access their Favorites list regardless of which endpoint they're using - webapp (supported), mobile (supported), or desktop (not supported via Sync or Box for Desktop).
REQUEST: Add a 'Favorites' view to Box for Desktop content (somehow) that allows the user to view only their Favorites (files + folders) just like they do in the webapp.

Add "additional_details" to events endpoint for MOVE, COPY, RENAME events
Presently, security & events reports run from the admin console include "change details" for these events - essentially, what the prior state was before the event occurred. The events endpoint does not include these details.
Request to add this to the additional_details of an event as it's reported through the admin events stream for the MOVE, COPY, and RENAME events.
If RENAME, show previous name of the folder
If MOVE/COPY, show previous parent of the folder10 votes -
Disable ability to use a secondary password
We'd like the ability to disable the use of a secondary password at both the account level and user level.
Main risk for us is that users can map a shared drive and use FTP with a secondary password - which would allow WU data outside of WU managed PCs all while bypassing SSO.

True versioning with Office Integrations
Our users are in Office online documents for several hours as they are working on legal documents. What this does is creates hundreds of versions of one document due to the auto-save feature and eliminates the benefits of versioning because the versions saved are not true versions.
It makes it difficult to see what the previous changes were that the other user made. We need true versioning for forensic value for our legal documents.
7 votesWe understand the request, but unfortunately this is not on the near-term roadmap.

Would like the ability to restrict certain folders from Sync'ing
For PCI content that is not suitable to be on multiple PCs, we'd like to restrict the ability for Owners and Editors to choose to Sync these folders.

We will revisit this if there is additional demand. For now, it is not planned.

Usage Logs - Allow Viewing in UI Beyond 1 Year Timeframe
Currently, Usage Logs are only available in the Admin Console UI for 1 year, but 7 years via Admin Console export.
REQUEST: Allow viewing Usage Logs in the UI for as long as they're able to be exported (i.e., 7 years).
0 votesThis is not planned for our current roadmap. We will let you know if anything changes.

Usage Logs - Indefinite Timeframe for Retrieval (Extend Current 7 Year Limit)
Currently Box Usage Logs are retained by Box for 7 years. Box customers can export up to 7 years worth of Usage Logs from the Box Admin Console.
As a customer, I want that 7 year limit to be raised to 'indefinitely,' meaning we can pull Usage Logs for actions taken at any point in time, not just the past 7 years.
REQUEST: Remove 7 year limit for Admin Console Usage Logs exports.
1 voteThank you for this suggestion! This is not currently planned for now. We will let you know if anything changes.

Allow Customization for 'Email to Upload' Email Address
Perhaps if the email address was tied to the actual instance like:
TEST_As.gbtuzmz6o0d088go@company.box.com
Then the Box server would have the ability to segregate all the addresses and we would not have issue of competition for addresses between companies that use Box. Thus be able to allow custom email addresses PER company. (i.e. allow us to modify address).

Trash deletion is explicitly reported in the Events stream
Today, when item(s) are deleted from the trash it shows up in the Events stream as a general DELETE event. You are not able to tell if the item was in trash or a regular folder. Would be great to have a distinction of event type such as DELETE vs DELETEFROMTRASH.
This is important because there are scenarios to identify when a file is emptied from Trash and thus unrecoverable (outside the 14 day window).

Box-Notification header - Suppress notifications when promoting an email alias to Primary
Extend the Box-Notifications header to suppress notifications when promoting an email alias to Primary via API. This header only appears to work when adding or deleting users email aliases, and the documentation on docs.box.com is not specific as to when this is supported.
This functionality is required to silently mass update users email addresses.

User management settings in mobile app
We would like user management access within the mobile iOS app. We would like to be able to reset a password on the fly as well as deactivate someone quickly if we are not near our computer.
1 voteThank you for the suggest! This is not an area in which we will invest.
App usage would be sporadic and would not drive engagement as much as dedicating our resources towards our existing apps.

Add One-Way Sync
There are so many good use cases for a one-way sync. Sometimes you want to provide access to a library of folders and files to users, but you don't want them to be able to modify them on the server...you just want them to have copies available on their PC.
Why not just give them access on Box with Viewer permissions?
I get that argument, but sometimes you don't want your users to have to go on the internet to access the files...You want them to have the files at their fingertips even when offline...but if they inadvertently delete or…
