  1. Request to improve the behavior of files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set on Box Drive

In Shield > Access Policy, we are creating a classification label for the policy that has "Restrict downloading and printing" set as the security control.
Depending on when you set this label classification, Box Drive may not have the limitations you expect.
I would like to see an improvement so that files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set cannot be opened or copied in Box Drive from the moment the settings are set.

The specific steps and events are as follows.
    1. Open the file before setting the classification label in Box Drive.
    2. Edit, save and close the file.…

  2. Allow the use of Linux devices as approved devices.

We had Linux based user using Box web console and as of the July update, they are no longer able to access Box. I would like to see Linx OS be added to the approved Operating Systems list in the Admin Console for enterprise settings.

  3. Add support for Integrated Windows Authentication for Box Drive login flow

Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) allows for the following login flow for the webapp:

    1. User logs into Windows
    2. User goes to Box and selects to use SSO to login
    3. When the user is redirected to their Identity Provider, the browser sends the user's OS credentials and the user does not need to enter credentials again
    4. User is logged into Box

This would provide a more seamless experience for users. In our computer labs, users would sign into Windows, click one button in the Box Drive login window, and have access to their Box content natively in the OS.

  4. Show same timestamp web vs. Box drive

To migrate from file share to use box, we initially uploaded the content from our file server via FTP. We managed to se the original timestamp of last file modification. So we get shown this timestamp at client side using box drive. But the web app shows the timestamp of uploading the file. Please make it show the same timestamp as BOX drive!

  5. Create log out protocols for Box Drive

Allow for an Admin to create protocols that will require users in Box Drive to have to login again after a predetermined amount of time.

Windows Server 2012 is not supported by Box as only two latest major versions (64-bit) are supported.

  7. Send box drive logs to any email address

Allow users to send box drive logs to a given email address rather than ONLY to Box Support. Remote debugging is difficult when we can't work directly with our end users' logs.

  9. Trigger a Box error when insufficient permissions to open a file in Box Drive

Right now, if you attempt to open a file from your Box Drive that you do not have download permissions to, it will throw a local application error and not a Box error indicating a permission issue.

From the end user perspective, this would indicate there was something wrong with this file or Box Drive failed to open.

  10. Ability to control folder actions on Box Drive

When using box drive, I would like to update the specifications so that control (move / delete) is possible so as to prevent accidentally moving the folder to an unexpected location.

    box drive 利用時、フォルダを誤って予期せぬ場所に移動させることを未然に防ぐような、制御(移動/削除)が可能となるような仕様にアップデートを希望いたします。

Box Drive beta is complete, and this capability is now available in the latest public release.

Please see this instructions to enable Folder Redirection https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/43741758140691-Enabling-Known-Folder-Redirection-on-Windows

To install the Windows version with ARM support, visit https://www.box.com/resources/downloads. For release details, see https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/43804162052627-Box-Drive-v2-47-for-Windows-Release-Notes.

  13. New Box Drive for Windows (Cloud Files): Improve Explorer UX during startup/connecting to avoid unstable/incorrect folder state

Problem (What problem could Box solve for you?)
When Windows starts, the new Box Drive (Cloud Files architecture) auto-connects. During this “connecting/initializing” period, the Box Drive folder becomes visible in File Explorer even though Box Drive is not fully running/ready. The folder view is unstable: some items show missing icons/status, and opening folders can result in errors. This happens consistently across multiple users in our pilot.
This behavior may be aligned with the feature “Box Drive folders remain accessible even when the Box Drive application is not running,” but exposing a partially-initialized state causes confusion and support tickets (users think…

  15. Show Date Uploaded, instead of Date Created for new files in Box Drive

Right now, when a file is uploaded to Box, the dated modified date shows the date the file was uploaded however, on Box Drive the date modified is the date the file was created.

We would like to see the date the file was uploaded on Box Drive, as it appears on the webapp.

  16. Allow admins to block external users from using MFO in Drive

Create an option to allow enterprise admin to block Box Drive for external users, on per user basis.
We have this feature in Box Sync (for managed users only) and need this feature to be extended to external users for Box Drive, due to security reason: Compared to downloading from Box Webapp , it is very easy for external users to get a lot of our contents with MFO. It is out of our control and we cannot guarantee as well if external user’s machines are secure enough (HDD encryption, antivirus software etc.).”

  17. Automatic Size All Columns to Fit for Box Drive

It would be great if all columns in the box drive could be automatically expanded so that file names are not cut off. This feature is available in another product that we used.

  19. Box Drive built with the new architecture to not move deleted files/folders to the local Recycle Bin

For the new-architecture Box Drive, we have observed that deleting the following types of items primarily moves them to the local and Box Web trash.
    ・Folders with online status
    ・Folders with downloaded status
    ・Files with downloaded status

One of the reasons customers choose Box is to improve security (prevent information leaks), and they expect to operate in a way that “data is stored locally as little as possible.”
However, once items are moved to the local Recycle Bin, the deletion policies configured for the trash in Box are no longer applied to those items.

We feel that the fact that…

  20. Allow users to manually prompt Box Drive upgrade from the Drive menu.

If a user's machine is running, they will receive the prompt to upgrade to a new version, even if they are not actively using their machine. This will cause users to miss the upgrade prompt for 24 hours.

We would ask that messaging is added to the Drive menu letting a user know that a "new version is available." If they click this, they will again receive the prompt to upgrade.
