1. On Mac, Box Drive has problems opening files after install of Box Tools

   I use Box Drive on my Mac. Ever since installing Box Tools, I am having problems opening files. In particular, after a file was recently opened, changed, and closed, the file seems to get "stuck" syncing back to Box. It freezes up and will no longer re-open or finish uploading unless I fully quit Box Drive and restart it. This happens even if I tell it to refresh the folder or wait for an extensive period of time.

   I'm not sure why there is no better way to report a bug, but my "idea" is for this bug to please be fixed :)

2. Box Drive can no longer "open on box.com" on Mac

   Previously on Box Drive you could right click on a file and choose to be taken to its location on box.com.

   Since the latest Mac, the functionality has disappeared, which affects the ease of using integrations with box.

4. Fix "missing" files bug in Box Drive

   Please fix the "missing" files bug with Box Drive which has been an issue for years. I'm honestly getting tired of having to tell my users to log out and log back in to clear app cache to fix the issue. It keeps happening after updates. I don't understand why this is so unreliable.

5. ability to upload direct from a clients google drive to Box

   We have found that most of our clients use google drive for storage of content for us to work with. We could really use a tool that assists us in transfers direct from google drive to our Box

6. It would be good have two people collaborate when both use box drive

   Right now, the only way to collaborate is using box drive and MS 365 online-- which has a clunky interface. Would be good to have people working in Box Drive be able to jointly edit documents. Sharepoint Sync allows that to happen, but Box Drive does not.

7. Allow DES files to be synced via Box Drive

   We would like for DES files to be synced to Box cloud via Box Drive. They are currently being ignored in the same way PST files are ignored. Ideally, having the ability to enable/allow exclusions would be ideal.

9. I want to share only the necessary folders and files on the BOX drive

   Since it is troublesome to access BOX.com, I usually access and edit the necessary folders and files from the BOX drive, but it would be convenient to be able to display only the necessary folders and files. Currently, when you open a folder with "Windows + E", all the folders and files in "All files" of BOX.com are displayed on the BOX drive, but you do not access all of these, and you can save files that are accessed infrequently. 10. A snapshot of contents within a Box drive folder

    Have you ever looked at a top-level Box folder and felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to dig through and drill down to every sub-folder just to know what the contents are?

    Do you get discouraged at the thought of looking for a single file that could possibly exist way down the rabbit hole of Box folders and sub-folders?

    Would you rather have the ability to glance at a snapshot of an entire Box folder and all the sub-folders and files that exist within it?

    A simple yet effective solution is a "tree directory" view. This is a feature that doesn't exist yet, but with your vote, you could contribute towards making this feature come alive.

11. Ability to view the contents of the login page on the login screen on Box Drive

    Currently, the login page settings that exist in the tenant settings are only visible in the web browser, not in Box Drive.
    Since many of our tenants use Box Drive, we would like to display the contents of the login page on the login screen on Box Drive as well.

12. Help me find all the folders on my Box Drive that I have set to Offline.

    I set some folders of images, PDFs and other assets I use a lot to 'Offline' in Box Drive, also for projects I'm working on. However, over time this means a lot of syncing to my drive or for security reasons I want to put everything to Online. I'd love a way to search for all folders that are set to Offline so I can set all or some back to Online. As an alternative, one button in Box Drive that puts all Offline folders back to Online so I know I'm 100% in the cloud again.

13. Request to improve the behavior of files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set on Box Drive

    In Shield > Access Policy, we are creating a classification label for the policy that has "Restrict downloading and printing" set as the security control.
    Depending on when you set this label classification, Box Drive may not have the limitations you expect.
    I would like to see an improvement so that files with "Download and Print Restrictions" set cannot be opened or copied in Box Drive from the moment the settings are set.

    The specific steps and events are as follows.
    1. Open the file before setting the classification label in Box Drive.
    2. Edit, save and close the file.
    3. Set a classification label for the file.
    4. Open the file in Box Drive.
    5. Although I have applied "download and print restrictions," I can open and save files on Box Drive. You can also copy to a local drive.

14. Increase the start-up speed of Box Drive. It is SOOO slow to start!

    Every time I have to restart my computer it takes Box Drive a good 5-10 minutes to start. This is unacceptable for such a large enterprise like this. Even accessing my offline files cannot be done until Box Drive completely starts.

15. Add a BOX datastore to allow native search on Windows

    Box can only be searched with the box search window, ctrl+shift+alt+b which is a workflow downgrade because it is not possible to search in a file browser and also it is much slower.

    The solution is to provide Windows with a BOX data store and send notification to the indexer when files are synced or changed, then search service will take care of everything for you and we win!
    The benefit of this method is that you have full control over what you feed the indexer so there is no security risk. For example you can let only filenames for viewer permissions, filename + content for edit permissions.

    The extra benefit of such solution is that you can deprecate the search code, less code to maintain = happier coder = more time for things that make the customer happy.

16. Improve online Permissions integrations with Box Drive to local Applications (Excel)

    If a user is a "View only" collaborator in a folder on Box and they attempt to open a file with a program like Excel through Box Drive, they will receive an error message from Box Drive about not having permissions to save changes. This happens even if no changes are made, and the user is left with 'unsynced' files they must reconcile.

    In a similar experience on a "real NTFS" volume, Excel would display "Read-Only" beside the title of the file. No errors would be displayed unless the user attempted to actually save to the directory.

    Excel is not being made aware of the permissions in place ON Box and only sees the R/W permissions for the Users' local drive.
    This might affect other applications, but Excel is where we ran into it.

17. Add verification question when moving files in Box Drive using File Explorer

    In the web box.com environment moving folders or files is verified with a question. This is not the case using Box Drive and moiving files or folders using File Explorer.

    A similar question as in box.com and if you delete files in Files Explorer should have been added for moving files in Box Drive. By accident root folder containing hundreds of GB may be moved and hidden into subfolders causing severe problems.

19. Sharing File paths with others in my organization on box drive

    Before my company switched to box we had a mac server. When directing people to files on this server we used a utility called PathSnagger where it copied the file path which you could then email to someone and it would become a clickable hyperlink. When you click it, it took you directly to that location on the server. It was great to be able to do this.

    With box, we cannot do that any longer with this utility because it copies the fully qualified path to your local computer. file:///Users/[username]/Library/CloudStorage/Box/[folder name]/[file or folder name] and since the recipient is on their own computer, the path breaks.

    We also all are using box drive to work locally rather than in a browser.

    I know we can copy or email a shared link to people, but that takes you to view it in a browser.

    What would be AMAZING if at all possible, would be for box to either be able to detect if a user has box drive installed and when they click the shared link, it instinctively knew you had it installed and throw a popup that says, "Would you like to open this link in box drive on your computer?" (or something similar) or if the browser view could identify that the viewer has box drive installed and include a button in the browser view that says something along the lines of "reveal in box drive"

    I know that Zoom can do something like this. when you click a zoom link to join a meeting, it takes you to your browser and shows a popup "Do you want to allow this page to open “zoom.us.app”?" and you can click Allow and it launches zoom.

20. install and syncronize box in a chosen folder

    1. I am windows user. I wanted to install box and syncronize my box files in my local D: drive, because my C: drive is full. Surprisingly, the installation process of Box app does not provide such an option (of selecting which drive to install Box to). It by default is installed on C: drive . This is very insane. Windows Users can choose to install which drive to install any app.

    2. My C: drive is full, and I want to syncronise everything both in cloud and in local computer, but i cannot do so because C: drive is full, and Box does not have an option (at least I cannot find it) to choose D: drive to syncronize. Because of this, I cannot use Box on my local computer, I have to unstall Box. Because of this, I have told my frields NOT to use Box. It is so inconvenient to use Box.

    3. in both Dropbox and Google drive, users have option to select which folder to syncronize from a LOCAL computer. but on Box, one has to do such selection only on cloud. This is also very inconvenient.
